So I've been thinking about my Quilen that I tamed late last night. I think the key to a potential bond will be not trying to view him as a flesh and blood beast, so to speak, but rather like an animated statue. Something you'd see in a cartoon or something. I'm still not sure if any of the new pets will make it to live, except Nangara...she's a guaranteed stable slot, but I'm having tons of fun with them for now.

I named him Guzou. Guuzou means statue in Japanese and I just tweaked the spelling a little bit.

You know I had to have the purple basilisk! I never really gave these guys much thought but just tamed one for he heck of it. As soon as I tamed him his grumpy little face reminded me of the statues of local Hawaiian warriors I grew up seeing. King Kamehameha popped into my head and that simply had to be his name. I love it!!

This little porcupine has completely won me over. I never thought I'd end up with one but I'm smitten. I love the blue model, it's such a pretty color but this one just stole the show. I named her Boarboela. I wanted to give a nod to her status as a Boar and all the wonderful hoopla that finally made porcupines tameable for good. Her name is a femized version of Boarboal, a huge mastiff type guard dog. What she lacks in size she makes up for in spunk.

And finally there's Stella. This was just going to be a quick tame, take some screenshots, and then release her. But once tamed I kinda sorta like her. She's so graceful and ethereal. Quite captivating. Of course that "ella ella" song is running through my head, lol, but then I was thinking of stilts because she's so tall. So combine the two and Stella it is. Her buff, spell power and water walking, is identical to the new MoP water striders, I believe.

Anazul, Kayajinn, and myself decided to go tame the green/black striders and decided to have some fun :)

They decided they didn't like the blue strider.

Kayajinn happened to get in the way.

That draenei's face will give me nightmares i swear, it looks like her skin was peeled off, eyes gouged out, and somehow the flesh turned into petrified wood

Wain wrote:I'm not sure if this one has been reported but the Coilfang Strider in SSC is tameable and is the black / green model.

This beast is only summoned during the Lady Vashj fight. It sounds like it can be a frustrating tame as it does frequent fears. Anyone who's ever done that fight will remember it and hate it :)
Ooh, I like this color! Are there any other NPCs with the same look that might be flagged tameable later?

Not something I'd attempt until level 90, and by then will probably have already bonded with a Pandarian water strider.

It's amusing to see that graphical glitches like having a block for a head or missing a face will never go away. :P

Though, that stone dog looks so awesome!

It sure was fun with the taming and the screenshots, Bonita!

Also, The Black Stalker has the same color scheme but he's currently marked untamable.

Also, the fears are, as I have found instant and don't stop and the way to get feared is when the strider reaches you, so you have to go as far away from it as you can, then do a concussive shot and tame, using the glyph of taming.

It was good fun, really! xD

After much trial and tribulation, the four of us managed to perfect the art of taming these frustrating things. YAY TEAM WORK AND BLACK STRIDERS!

This was definitely the colour I wanted to tame, seeing as it's black/purple/green. :D

Kalli brought up a good point about The Black Stalker. Since he's the *final* boss of the instance, that could mess up LFD groups if someone tamed him and then the group wasn't able to complete the dungeon, so maybe he won't be made tameable due to that. I sure hope so though, it would be much easier than the SSC ones. Still, I feel prepared now after we got the routine down. x)

Valid concern! Though, Underbog is.. 64-65? It's exotic and isn't exotic taming still 69 even in MoP? :)

Yea, if Water Striders are exotic, people shouldnt have too much trouble, and the group probably wont let the hunter tame the boss anyways from the loss of loot and the fact it would abruptly screw their LFD run up. Its sorta like Chromaggus in a way, if you arent high enough to solo (taking the first raid boss in BWL out of the question here since hes a group boss preferrably) then you get others to clear the way for you :3
