I never complained about the proto-drake skeleton, but I do think it doesn't fit the firehawks - the skeleton used by various eagles and flying druids would be a better fit.

Wait, why are we talking about this in a Quilen thread? You're not suggesting Quilen gonna get the bat-walk animations proto-drakes have?

Sorry for further derailing the topic, but... people don't like the proto-drake skeleton?! They're my favorite mounts!

The only thing I don't like about protodrakes is their land run - but hey, they're not supposed to be running, their airbound as clouds and such. Their walking (or should I say crawling?) is the most awesome and badass thing I've ever seen. I wish their running would be like their drwaling, just with matched speed.

Proto-drake skeleton is very good on proto-drake, not so much on some other things.

And the protodrake skeleton was a joke. I made it because so many people complained about it last time it was re-used (for the fire hawks)

It's still a little weird! But then again, it is about the only skeleton that works for showing big-winged birds walking; the raptor skeleton for the other birds is....well, a little distracting sometimes - and it wouldn't work for a flying mount at all. Beyond that, birds fly everywhere in WoW or they sit in one place - you don't see them hopping to the side or anything. I don't mean tallstriders and cranes or the raptor-based mounts, of course, but the owls, eagles, etc.

I know, that stuff doesn't exist because there's no real need for it to exist. But I bet that the programmers could find lots of fun uses for such capabilities if it ever got to that point.

Yeah in theory the idea of having separate animations for grounded birds / flyers sounds cool, but in practice that pose (with the basic head-up, wings tucked back waddle) just seem kind of underwhelming imo - I mean at least when they're in that pose but up high on something they still retain a certain amount of majesty, but when they're down at knee level you just want to toss them a morsel or give them a pat on the head lol

And yeah firehawks would stand much higher than knee level, but still - meh. I think the proto was the right choice for them; much meaner and more imposing.

Well techicly they are elementals and not birds so thats why I think the proto-drake skeleton works well for them. People allways bring up when you talk about it that they are birds and should use a bird skeleton but they are not. They are bird-like elementals just like Phoenix's. I mean yes they are called Firehawks but they where named that as they resemble bird not cos they are birds. :S Of course this is just my personal opnion :3

The only problem I have with the proto-drake skeleton on the Firehawks are the feet, they are turned up in and look broken to me, if they fixed that then I would be fine with it

Oh no, that's fine! This thread needs to stay active, since it's likely where we'll end up discussing the new skeleton whenever it goes in.
