Well, it IS an overwhelming change in the contract, in addition to the fact that our personal info is getting put out on the web, voluntarily or not.

I doubt the Better Business whatchamacallit will be too happy about stuff like that.

The double standards here are amazing.

Yet another page with excellent proof as to why this is a bad idea:

yeah...there is a reason I'm against this whole Real ID thing...and it's because this (stuff in the above post) is what I do for work...every day...I know what information is out there, and I know how easy it is to obtain. Do I think some axe murderer is gonna come after me in the night? Not really....but do I want the world to have access to this type of information? Nope, not at all.

I probably did not much more today than think about what these changes will bring.

I am not willing to have my name out there.
I am not willing to stop using the forums.

It just occurred to me that everything is optional, even playing WOW.

I'll wait and see for a couple of days. If Blizzard is not taking back these changes, I'll quit WoW.
It can't be that I have to compromise myself and throw myself at the mercy of those google-stalkers just to be part of the community.

Forums are optional, you can play without posting there.
Getting my money is optional too, you can pay your guys without my money.

Hard decision, I already have a bad feeling about my characters but somehow I think it's the right thing to do.

With our views of making the World of Warcraft a more social gaming experience for all, we have merged partners with Facebook! All your characters will be linked to your Facebook page and your realID name displayed under your guild name so people can connect to you on Facebook easy. Now you can always check on what your friend's friends are doing so you can always to up to date in and out of the game!

To help with this merger and to get more casual facebook gamers to WoW, we have started by renaming Westfall to Farmville!
I'm joking with that quote but by this point I wouldn't be surprised to see something like that posted by a blue. The day that happens I'm out of WoW.

I'm so glad that I have a common name.

Oh look, I even have a death record.

I didn't even bother giving it my state...Just went with first and last name. Well...It's pretty common, so they'd have a hard time finding me...Cursory glance and I couldn't find me.

When I checked my twitter to see what ppl thought of this and not surprisingly enough the Infamous Gigi does not have a problem with it. She reminds me more and more of Lindsay Lohan really.

One Google search using just my first and last name and what state I live in, up pops my home address and phone number. Look, there's even a picture of my house! Not surprising, since I have a landline and am in the phone book.
Using just my name, there are several "me's" but not an overwhelming number.

I'm not surprised everyones beloved Gigi likes this. She likes the spotlight, it seems.

Guy's actually do have to worry about being stalked as well, it just doesn't sound like as big of an issue. I've had a stalker or two in my time, and it is NOT fun in any way form or fashion.

For the last time, I APOLOGIZED! Yeesh, give it a break!

I don't think you see the point here. Guys are the majority. People in the majority have a much lower risk. Minority groups, however, have a much harder time. Of course anyone can be stalked, but women in particular have that happen more often.

Oh no I definitely see the point Sat. I understand completely. I am just stating that the reverse does happen, just not as often. I would honestly worry for any of my female WoW friends including you if ((And probably when)) this goes live.

Ok then, I thought you meant that this was going to be an equally big problem. No need to worry about me, I didn't post on the forums before, and I won't afterwards either. Any sane person will stay away from those forums, both before and after.
