If you really like your pet, then you can just go tame another one. If you like it just because it's a rarespawn, then why bother to fight about it?

Besides, with all the attention this has been getting we can bet we won't get to see the new Soriid now. -.-

The reason I keep her is not because she's a rare spawn.. But because I love her. But.. I'm almost certain that I won't feel the same connection with her if I retame her as a different Silithid.... *Sighs* I don't even know why I'm arguing with you about this.. You obviously don't know anything about getting attached to your pets. *Grabs Gypsy and the current Soriid and skedaddles out of here*

This whole Soriid bit is starting to sound just like the Araga disagreement in another thread.

This is a matter of to each his own. Which is perfectly fine.

No one is saying you're not attached to her. We get that by your expression. But it's almost a selfish act to say you don't want something to morph because you like your baby the way she is. This decision is also not the groups' decision, it's Blizzards. You don't like it ................ take it up with them. **no flaming me for that**

I can understand that this morph may ruin it for you but there's a bright side IF this change happens. You have plenty of time to create within yourself a new story for her. This isn't happening tomorrow. Give yourself a chance and be open minded to creating this new story with her. That may be you and your Gypsy's saving grace and it may even possibly strengthen your bond.

We don't always like the changes Blizzard makes but have to live with them if you want to play the game.

I had actually came up with a pretty cool (well I thought it was anyway) RP basis for why you could get a new silithid if Gypsy changes at Cata, but the forum server appears to have either eaten or quarantined it (I didn't say anything naughty! I swear!) and I'm not gonna retype it. So there.

Here's the thing, I'm not trying to be selfish.. In fact, I want Blizzard to change a different Silithid into a beetle.. Then everyone's happy, right? People who don't want Soriid to change (Like me XD) can keep their Soriids, while people who want the beetle can have it!

To be honest, I was kinda just blowing off steam over the whole thing... Seeing EVERYONE in this thread being excited about it kinda got me raging, so I needed to kinda state my own opinion on the matter, which I guess didn't really come out the way I had planned... Hehe.. ^^;

I didn't think any pet could ever be the real Orpheus after I exchanged my scorpid up the chain....but then I realized that being a pink scorpid didn't really suit him to begin with. He's one of the VERY few pets I have who can do that, and the only one who's done it fairly consistently.

I do understand, though; Hippomenes the spirit bear really only clicked with my blood elf. Not totally settled on what I'm doing with him in Cata; we'll see how it plays out. He will still be with me in some sort of form, though.

There's always the alternative....Gypsy made a cocoon and reemerged a totally new bug. :D

I wrote this before the thread exploded, but still find it relevant. There are things that happen in life that are beyond our control. We have to adapt, whether it's what we'd prefer or not.

Not to mention it appears the Silithid Ravager has just disappeared altogether. How uncool is that? I'd take a re-skin over extinction any day (well, except for those ones still in AQ).

Same thing is happening with Ghost Howl (Death Howl?) in Duskwood. He's going from that whitish silvery to a brown coyote. People aren't happy about it. But sadly, if it wasn't your beloved baby that was being changed, it'd be someone else's. Regardless of what gets changed, someone is going to be affected personally. It's just a matter of luck of the draw, and you get the short stick this time. Next expansion, it'll be someone else. So don't take it personally. :(

In other news, I'm seriously hoping we get to keep this bugger in Cataclysm. It'd be McEpic with a side of fries! As long as it gets scaled down a tad, of course.

Hehe, I know a lot of us are excited at the prospect of a potential unique pet in the future, but Senna was just expressing her dismay over how the change would affect her personally. No need to single her out on that, everyone has their own strong bonds with their pets and for some people an unwanted appearance change would be very heartbreaking.

Whatever the outcome will be, no single person's opinion will have any effect on Blizzard's decision, so let's allow people to express their own views without jumping down their throats about it. ;)

That was kind of what I was suggesting in my post that didn't make it, but in my version she first secreted an egg as a parting gift to her former master... before she metamorphosized into a queen silithid and headed off to start a new hive... and baby Gypsy grows up under the nurture of a hunter, bearing an uncanny resemblance to her mom ;)

*looks up at the gigantic silithid* BABY?! *giggle* Glad that worked out. ;)

Seriously, though, what Rhy said is true - if it's not your baby being changed, it's someone else's. Which is why I'm scared for Chatter at the moment. >_<

*Sighs* I know... Blah, I guess I was kinda being selfish.. But hey, at least I'm not acting like some of the die-hards who rage over Araga's skin being common. (DON'T KEEL ME FOR THIS! I just get annoyed by the people who are like that... *Hides*)

It's a different kind of indignation, really, but it's all in the same roots. People wanting things the way they want them, everyone else be damned.

At least you got to the point of being willing to adapt, since there's nothing that can be done anyway, y'know?

Heh, yeah, I guess so. Actually.. I've had this problem with my pets on my main (I even created a whole tread about it earlier this year), where I had these two pets a few years ago (My cheetah and Felpaw Wolf <3) but I had released them after WotLK hit, and no matter how many times I retamed them.. It was never them.. Til I thought up a story about them coming back to their master, and they've been with my main ever since! Stories can be life-savers, that's for sure.
YAY GROUP HUGS!!

Uh, no, I'm not one of the people who doesn't give a damn about others just for my own wants. I'm NOT like the people you're talking about, as much as I may seem that way at times, I never mean to act like that.

Might not mean to, but it can happen.

Anyway, not attempting to stir things up again, since everything is shiny now. Just trying to avoid future misunderstandings.

No no lol... baby comes from the egg Gypsy lays just before going into her crysalis...

The "original" Gypsy emerges from the crysalis (in the new "beetle" form) and leaves to form a new hive - that one's identity is now overridden by the beckoning hive mind...

Meanwhile as Senna mourns the loss of her companion, the egg hatches, and under her care grows up to look like its mom did pre-morph...

Now just watch, after all this, they'll ... erm ... no, I'm not gonna jinx it.

Gonna be a long 4-6 mos though, I'll tell you what!

Heeeee, figured that after I posted. ;) I liked the idea of a MASSIVE superbaby, though. *giggle*
