I am SO sorry for the delay in my participation! I took some time off WoW for RL stuff, but I should be back on a pretty consistent basis from now on. Please forgive me!
I was assigned the Gray Turtle skin (
http://wow-petopia.com/look/seaturtleskingrey.html). I promptly marched Poochyená to Dustwallow Marsh to nab her one of these silly guys.

Here he is immediately after taming. He looks pretty jolly, I think. Generally turtles seem like old grumpies to me but this guy looks pretty happy all the time! I sort of loved him from the get-go. I named him Torterra, in keeping with my Pokemon theme.

As you can see, he is a medium to light gray color, depending on the light, and the rim and cracks on his shell are a pretty violet/lavender shade. I'm actually not a big fan of this turtle model anymore, as I much prefer the new Cata turtle, but I found Torterra to be pretty charming. His skin is a little weird- definitely old and in need of some work! You can see his feet are especially pixelly, and his tusks need some love. I also was more than a little weirded out by his eyes! I think they were kind of a deal breaker for me.

Here he is swimming. This is my ABSOLUTE favorite picture, because he just looks absolutely thrilled to be swimming, with little Mr. Chilly beside him. The turtle swim animation is pretty cute. They paddle outwards with their stubby legs, and when not moving in the water, paddle slower to keep themselves afloat. On land they are a little more awkward but still pretty much paddle the ground with those silly legs of theirs. Attack animations are basically a lunge with the head.

Here you can see him floating...and also HIS CREEPY EYES! How is it he can have so much character until you get a close-up of those eyes?
While idling in Stormwind, he'll really just chill. Sometimes he snuffles on each side of him, and then raises his head and snuffles the air, which is pretty cute. I entitled this image "Snufflin Snufflin".

Torterra is a pretty quiet guy, I noticed. I don't play with my sound on much, even with a quiet pet, but his sounds seemed to be quiet sort of grunty noises. Nothing too intense!
As far as his skills go, Torterra is a tanking pro! His special ability is the Shell Shield which reduces damage taken by 50% for 12 seconds, on a 1 minute cooldown. It seems that Torterra only cast this when he really needed, like when he got below around 50% health. It's pretty nice because I hate having to manage pet cooldowns, and that's an important survival skill that I like to have up when he really needs it!

There's the Shell Shield in action. I like his little feet sticking out.
Turtles, I learned, are terrible dps pets. My tank did not enjoy Torterra when I brought him into a dungeon with me. Even with Growl off he stomps around and acts like an angry aggro machine. As a Tenacity pet, I wouldn't expect any less. But...no good for dpsing. I already had an idea of how PvP would go with him, but we bumbled into an Arathi Basin anyway...failspeed ahead! This is how most of my AB looked:

Yep. Torterra has a really, really good job as a solo tanky pet. Really good. He's also great for replacing the dungeon tank if said tank chooses to leave for any reason. But, do not expect your turtle to exceed in dungeon/raid dps, or pvp, situations. Bad times all around.
In general I loved this pet! I came across Mahamba who is a pet I've kind of wanted since I ran into the other two in STV, so I dropped my poor Torterra. However, I most definitely will be grabbing another turtle SOON.
Another, please!
