Doublepost ftl.

Anyway, finished up my report.

The Pet: Blue Warp Stalker
Location: Vashj'ir
Tame Difficulty: Easy as pie. The only issues one might have is needing to do the starting Vashj'ir quests to get a Seahorse. Other than that…

Appearance:

Image

It's a very nice model and a very nice skin. Model wise, lovely. It's a very high-quality model with a lot of little extra things, like frills and that sort of thing. Even the feet are very nicely made, which is quite unusual even in the newer beasts. The stance is great, with the tail held up high then drooping down… Honestly I can't praise this pet enough. It's not even in an annoying "IMA PROWLIN' ALL DA TIME" pose, it's just relaxed.

The skin isn't one of my favorites, but it's still popular. It's a nice sea blue, very deep-sea and really lovely. There are red highlights between his scales and his stripes are dark crimson. Breaking the usual "Eyes = stripe color" of the older warp stalkers, his eyes are bright blue, very striking.

It has fantastic animations. Its running animation is very low to the ground and waddling, a lot like a lizard would really act, while its swim is almost more dog-paddle esque. While idle, it sniffs the air and looks about.

Attacks/combat:

Image

So much <3. Unlike many pets, when idle in combat it hunches down and hisses, unlike the common "Just standing" thing most pets do. It has two attack animations that are very similar - a bite from the left and a bite from the right. Its special, Time Warp, causes a blink-like magic effect on the target.

Combat wise, Warp Stalkers are nice, if not optimal, tanks. They're (obviously) in the Tenacity tree, but their skill Time Warp isn't the best out there. It can, however, make a good PvP ability, or at least so I'd assume. I don't PvP.

((Going to try doing this report with more of a RP flair since Rose is my RP hunter. She had Image.))

By the Warchief's decree I shipped out to Borean Tundra. Normally I wouldn't do this sort of thing, but mercenary jobs were getting low and I could use the gold. I was put to work immediately and as I was doing various odd jobs, I stumbled across these gentle giants of moths. It was strange to feel my interest piqued by them as most of the creatures that fight by my side are fierce beasts.

I decided to be on my way, taking care of the kobold menace as I was asked. There was a strange tugging on my sleeve, and as I turned to look, I was startled by coming face to face with one of the local moths. I tried shooing it away before it brought attention of my presence to the local kobolds, but to no avail; the creature would not leave me alone. Muttering under my breath, I loaded my gun in the hopes the beast would be scared away, only to alert the kobold I was scoping out. As it uttered a battle cry, I cursed. Before I could lift my gun to shoot it in the head, the moth had already darted over to the kobold and stuffed its mouth full of dust, shutting the creature up. A smirk lit up my face as I made the killing shot; it seems that I have gained a new friend.
Image

Fae, as I named my new mothy friend, was soon to become one of my preferred travelling companions through the tundra. Her ability to fly provided me with a second set of eyes, and the more I watched her, the more I was able to learn that different movements of her body would signal various information that I might like to know, either about the landscape or potential enemies. Truly a fantastic creature to behold in the field.
Image
Image

As we bunkered down for a night, I took the time to study my new friend. Her eyes are the most brilliant emerald color and they stand out against her adorably rosy pink body, while her tan wings and antenna provide a contrast suiting to the lands where I found her.
Image
Image

One thing I would have never expected from such a gentle, quiet creature is the fierceness Fae brings with her when we fight. We were sent to Coldarra to help the red dragonflight stop the havoc the blues were trying to create (may not be much of a merc job, but you don't say no to dragons). At first the dragonkin and spellbinders laughed as they saw Fae coming for them. Their laughter then turned into cries of pain as she got dust in their eyes, noses, and mouths and gouged them with that horn of hers. Of course, they weren't so fond of being peppered with bullets either, but a sweet little moth trying to tear your guts out is a little more distracting, thankfully.
Image

As it turns out, I'm more grateful then I thought I would be to have befriended Fae; she has certainly earned her place with my team.
-----

That was more fun than I expected. XD Not one of my usual reports, but definitely fun to write. :3

My silver scorpid report!

Mob: Vile Sting
Location: Thousand Needles
Difficulty: Not very hard at 85, but I imagine a lower level character would want to ice trap him. Of course, you could also just get the common ones from Silithus.

Appearance:

Image

Model: Usually I'm not super fond of the old world Scorpid model. The claws seem too round and it really bothers me. The color of this mob really helps, though, and makes the model much more tolerable. Overall it's really not that bad - big pincers, lots of little details. I love the little spike frills and the clearly segmented, armored body. It doesn't clip much, and it overall looks very nice.

Skin: I always thought, at first, that this skin was rather drab. Indeed, as seen above, he looks a bit… dull next to his omgbright kin. I just had to look at him closely to realize I was wrong. This skin has the most amazing, bright spots I've ever seen. They seem to change from fluorescent aqua to ultra bright blue by how you look at them, set off by the rather dull silver the rest of his body is. They far out-glow the skin on the back of each segment, which is a dull sea green. His eyes are similar to his spots, just as bright but less blue. Very striking.
…And do you see that mouth? O.o Eesh, that's just creepy. He has several rows of teeth, apparently…

Animations/attacks:

Image

Animations: Sorry, no picture of him running. It's hard to capture. It's rather simple, though, and very flowing. His swim animation is awesome, so adorable! His attacks, though, are a bit disappointing. You see that awesome tail? Yeah, it's purely decorative. It doesn't do a thing when he fights. Overall he just snaps with both claws, left-right-left-right. Wooo.

In battle, he's another nice (but not optimal) tank. He'd make a nice PvP pet, with a both melee and ranged disarm. I wouldn't suggest dungeoning with him, though - if you need a disarm, grab a Bird of Prey to get a little more DPS.

I'm bored! I want another. xD

Loque'nahak. Pretty easy tame. If you're at-level, it could help to put down a trap because she does hit fairly hard. I like her coloration and her overall appearance. She does these cute little kitty-yawns when idle and makes unique noises while fighting:

All in all, Loque was worth the tame, even though her model isn't my favorite. I can see why she was so camped back in WOTLK. Her model is very unique, since its the ONLY model like that in the entire game, and her combat sounds are unique as well. Her front half, as you can see, is the blue, frosty spirit glow, while her back half appears like a normal leopard. She's really unique and if you can get past her odd appearance, pretty cool. I dislike her strange tail, but after doing this report, I found myself liking her a lot more than I had, so thanks Tyger for getting me to use her! Her idle animations are the usual kitty-yawn animations and she has the same spirit beast dps as all others. Pretty dang good dps. She is the 2nd best Northrend spirit beast, imo. Get her if you can.

So I finally come to my report about the blue Vulture.

The blue vultures can be found in various places of Azeroth starting with level 10 rare Vultros in Westfall. Since Nerdanel is a Bloodelf I avoided the journey to check for him and went to Desolace instead.
The taming went without any problems:
Image

Appearance:

I named my vulture Neptun, fitting his blue color.
His feathers are ranging from dark grey over blue to silver. A pretty nice pattern I wouldn't have expected of a vanilla pet.
Image
Where his throat connects with his body he has a white collar of fluffy feathers like those birds in RL have, too. What kind of creeped me out a bit and kept me from connecting too close with him were his eyes. They are red and soulless (at least they are for me) and don't seem to match his blue/grey body at all.
Image
When you watch this pet from behind, he has these three things sticking out at his end. They obviously are no feathers and look like the skin on his talons. I looked for pictures of rl vultures, but they don't seem to have it. For me it just looks weird and like they don't really belong to this bird.
Image

Combat:

As a Carrion Bird Neptun belongs to the ferocity talent tree. I really like owls but I never take them as dps pets with me, because of their talent tree. So a bird with a ferocity tree was just what I was looking for. He really does great dps (at least with Nerdanel beeing level 52) and is something different from the cat/wolf-thing every hunter seems to run around with. Neptun's special ability is the Demoralizing Screech. It reduces the physical damage of alle enemies in range by 10% for 10 seconds and is on a 10 sec cooldown. It is really great to take some damage off the tank in a dungeon (means less work for the healer) and provides nice help if other abilities are already covered (like cat or wolf) and you want to help out your group as good as possible. I wasn't able to snap a good in combat screen of him, but you can see his basic attack animation in the taming picture: going at the target with talons and wings.
His screeching also helps him to keep aggro quite well, although if you do too much damage he won't keep it and with more mobs on him he won't last long without mend pet (which means you get the aggro even sooner).

Sounds and animations:

I love his sounds - some people might find him annoying and noisy, I love it. Every time he uses his screech he does it with all the power of his lungs. I told my party to tell me if he was too loud for them, but they never complained. He screeches and I think he kills his enemies by blasting their ears off until they give up.
His idle animation is to flap at your hunter's side, sometims flapping a bit up and then dropping a bit down again.
His swimming is the same as with other birds: majestic slow flapping animation under water.
Image
Now at level 52 Neptun is already quite big. If I tell him to stay put in one place and place my toon under him, he is like a giant umbrella for her. With his wings unfolded he reaches quite some size. I wonder how big he would be with level 85 or if he will stop growing with level 60/70/80 (never paid attention to when my hunter's pets were grown up.... does anybody know?)
Image

Conclusion:

Neptun is a very nice pet. I haven't bonded with him, because his eyes creep me out and I think he does not look "girly" enough for Nerdanel's stables filled with purple and pink and more luminescent blue pets. But I have to admitt, that I liked the class of carrion birds more and more the longer I had him out. I never ever had a carrion bird and he was the very first one I really paid attention to. I'm looking forward to Nerdanel beeing level 70something to tame a condor from Dragonblight. Perhaps this colour pattern will fit her better. But I already got out and tamed the glowing ghostly blue vulture with my Tauren (took some time to get the taming right for the glow to stay, but it worked) and I love my Mystral with her.
Neptun and Nerdanel, so you can see how huge he already is:
Image

Sorry for the late report, had some visitors over from Germany and didn't spend a lot of time in the game.

Would love to have a new roll, but can't promise to do it fast (expecting the next visitors for the weekend).
This time I'd love to have it for my main hunter Finduilas. I cleaned out her stables so she has now two free slots waiting to be filled and I'm open for new challenges :)

Name: Finduilas (Belf)
Level: 85
Exotics: yes
restrictions: no diseased pets please, no monkey/gorillas
rares she has: quite a few, but I don't mind to do reviews about them (did take screenshots of almost every tame) - the link to her stables is in my signature if you want to look them up.

((Another RP style entry, this time for Image.
Anyone who read Roxíe's pet diary before I stopped being interested in it knows who this guy is. :)))

Revenge is a dish best served cold, or so they say. Mine often comes in the form of an animal fury that those who live long enough recognize it to be a bright red hyena.

Let me explain. I came across this human in my travels; she said she had been growing sick, as if she had caught a random strain of the plague or something, and that she could no longer care for her pets as she once had. Seeing that I was a hunter and avid lover of pets, she asked me if I would take care of someone very special to her and introduced me to a bright red hyena named Rev (short for Revenge). After spending some time getting to know this hunter, Roxíe, I agreed to take over caring for Rev.

Never was there a more vicious, or loyal, hyena like this one (as far as I'm concerned anyway; I don't give a rats ass about anyone else's hyena). I had never befriended a hyena before, but he accepted my bond and fell easily into my mercenary work, which (or the lack of which I suppose), has brought us out to the cold, barren wastes of Dragonblight. It was like being in Desolace, only much colder. At least Venomspite feels sort of like home after all the time I've spent with the Forsaken.
Image

Rev wasn't thrilled by the snow, his original home being the deserts of Tanaris, but he plodded along next to me as we hunted our quarry (Scourge siegesmiths).
Image

There were plenty to be found beneath the unholy halls of Naxxramas and the two of us tore them asunder, plundering their fallen, skeletal bodies for any bombs they might be carrying.
Image

Image

All in all, not a bad trip, I think good ol' Rev might have even put a bit of fear in the soulless eyes of the Scourge. Maybe he'll even teach the Lich King to fear the power of revenge one day. Ha! For now, I am most certainly content keeping him by my side and taking joy in his company and fighting prowess.
Image
----

Poor ol' Revenge may not get used as much by me, but I could never dream of letting this guy go. I have no personal use for his special ability, but the story he gained along with Roxíe when he was originally tamed cemented him in my heart and I was thrilled to pass him and the little legacy I had built up for him to Rose. :)

Name: Rosaliah
Level: 72
Exotics: Yes
Restrictions: No monkeys or gorillas
(Mostly just putting rolls for myself here for face value. Most of my rolls for Rose will probably be pets from her stables as I'm really loving doing these challenges with more of a story style to them.)

Kurken Review!

Mob: The Kurken
Level: 12, but you must be at least 69 to tame him.
Location: Azuremyst Isle, in the Furblog Cave.
Tame difficulty: On an alliance, easy as pie. Nothing to worry about. As a Horde, though, this is a hard to find mob. Typically I'd suggest flying to Ruth'eran, landing on the boat, and feigning death until you reach Azuremyst. Then leap off and swim to shore. Be sure to avoid Exodar, as entering the city area will flag you! Beyond that, just run in to the Furblog place and nab him.

Appearance:

Image

Model: I gotta admit, I love this model. It's surprisingly high quality, without the infamous flat teeth of cats or wolves. I especially like his big feet. I do see some issues with his rear end, though, specifically his tail. It looks far too thick and stumpy and has me wondering if it's long fur or just a giant chunk of flesh. Bleh!

Skin: At first glance, <3. His fur is pale bluish white and his eyes a glowing red, fine white mist (frost, perhaps) rising off of his back. Everything is very nice and pretty high detail. However, again, his rear. Ergh. And his sides in this case. The fur clumps up into huge locks and it just looks ugly and unrealistic, like he's made out of gems or something. I wish it was as fine all along his body as it is on his face.

Animations:

Image

His overall animations are nice. While idle he either pants heavily, his chest heaving and claws rapping at the ground, or lifts both heads in a mighty (soundless) howl. Very cute. His running animation is unremarkable, a fast walk if anything. His swim makes up for it, though - he has an adorable dog paddle, and certainly doesn't look like he wants to stay in the water for much longer!
I noticed a few issues with his attack animations. Well, only one, but it's very glaring. When he breathes fire and when he bites, his jaws shatter six times over and he evolves into a snake. Well, something like that, anyway. His jaws should NOT open that wide. Beyond that, his animations are simple bites with each head.
It should be noted that, unlike many pets, both of his special skills have unique animations. For his Lava Breath he opens both jaws (way too far), and for his Ancient Hysteria he, er, howls. Okay, that one isn't unique, but you get the point.

Combat:

Core Hounds are solid DPS pets, and a great pet to have in your Heroics line up. My corehound has played Shaman/mage/whatever with his Ancient Hysteria many a time, even in raids. His other skill, Lava Breath, is only helpful in specific fights. I suppose against healing mobs it would be useful, but beyond that, most of his use is in his Heroism/Bloodlust spell.
Because of the odd Lava Breath ability, I usually pick other Ferocity pets above a Corehound if my group already has Heroism/BL.

Not my kind of pet, overall. Little things about him bug me too much. He's very pretty, but just not like my dear Ike, the Chromaggus.

Another? :-D

Terrorpene. Not my favorite pet, in fact, he's actually released by me because I dislike his appearance so much. Turtles, however, do make awesome tanking pets. To tame Terrorpene, well, find him is the hardest part. He's actually WANTED on my server, so I got lucky and found him around lvl 84 and tamed him. He hits really hard no matter what level you are and if you trying to tame at level 81 its almost impossible to tame without a priest and lots of haste gear. Some screenies of the flaming turtle:

Overall, not my favorite pet at all. Really dislike him. His animations and overall appearance are pretty good if you like turtles, but I just never liked turtles, and rare or not, I couldn't keep him. His nose that looks like a smokestack is really interesting and probably the best part of him. He tanks really well and can hold aggro well, but like most tenacity pets, is not meant for big dps. If you like turtles, Terrorpene is probably the best looking one out there. I couldn't stop thinking of those flaming turtles from Mario every time I looked at him.
