Black Devilsaur report!

Mob: Ironhide Devilsaur
Location: Roaming Un'goro crater
Level: Must be 69 to tame him. (Exotic)
Tame details: The tame itself isn't very hard, but Devilsaurs are infamous for being everywhere when you don't want to see them and nowhere when you do. It can take hours to find a devilsaur, let alone of the right color.
There's also a mob with his same skin in Netherstorm, level 71, by the name of (I think) Tyrannus.

Appearance:

Image

Model: A nice, if rather low poly, model. The feet and head are especially nice, with well done toes and teeth. He's pretty blocky, though, and it only shows more on a scaled down, pet-sized Devilsaur.

Skin: I've never been super fond of this one. It doesn't seem black enough, nor blue enough. There are a lot of fake shines on his scales which make him seem more 3d than he is, which is nice, and I like the yellowish skin showing between his scales. He has striking blue eyes, which make his stripes look very dull in comparison. His stomach is tan-orange, which looks pretty odd next to his otherwise cold colors… A grey belly would perhaps fit it better.

Animations:

Image

Disappointingly, he only has one idle, but he makes up for it by it being awesome. He roars, with a neat sound and everything. Other then that, he just waves his tail from side to side constantly.

His run animation is still built for his larger size. When he's huge, it would be terrifying to look back and see some massive beast running after you, shaking the ground, head lowered to the ground so he can stare at you intently. As he's now small, though, it looks rather silly.

The same goes for his attacks, which are designed for a beast trying to smash bug-like players. He stomps, bites, and head butts, but he does so to attack things on the ground… It seems like he's trying to knock someone over now that he's small.

His swim, at least, makes sense in any size. He looks adorable, too. It's an exaggerated raptor paddle, so adorable!

Combat:

Devilsaurs are excellent DPS pets, though their Exotic ability is exceedingly situation-based. If you're not fighting a mob that heals itself, it's useless. His other ability, a wolf-esque 5% crit roar, is very nice and useful in most groups. As a Ferocity pet, he doesn't make the best tank, but you have to be BM to use him so he's automatically a bit stronger.

I already have two devilsaurs, so this one will not stay.

Another? :->

Rassaa, 85
Exotics? Sure
Restrictions? None.

Wow, that was good! Terrorpene with no priest at 81, I can't imagine it. Good job! Anyway, my precious blue Madexx...took me seven months of camping to finally get him. He was easy to tame once I found him, but finding him was the EXTREMELY hard and time consuming part. Right after tame:

Adorableness. Does this cute claw dance while idle:

Awesome, awesome pet. Looks amazing and is actually a fairly good tenacity pet. Not as good as turtles at tanking mobs, but still not bad at all either. He is totally worth getting. I love his animations, sounds, and abilities. I am still not sure he was worth the stress of camping for seven months, but I definitely love him. He's never leaving my pet call slot. I've never worked so hard for a certain pet. <3 you blue Madexx!

Yeah, it was a hell of a tough tame. I died 3 or 4 times and worried about someone coming and taking him, but I managed to nab him in the end. XD

hey sara....didn't you forget that terrorpene is a she? (i did a mini fan fict one her....
http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15287 if ya guys want to read what i've done...i've done sambas (and please tell me how to spell the friendly cat that looks like sambas next to the king of the cat people) terrorpene and Skitterflame..i have nada clue who to do next.)

and i do belive i need to do this and get a new one:
Image
here he is wild....a nice yellow/gold color.and i like his head sticking out of the trap :P
Image
here i am taming him. he's easy especially cause you have to 69 to get him and he's 55..you dont really need
the freeze trap at all.
Image
him standing behind me. he's slightly taller then me.(om nom nom nom)
Image
not to good of a fighting shot..but it does say what his fighting way is...just that. a bite. reach forward and bite..nothing much (kind of irks me but since they have nothing else it's fine)
his special is acid spit which hurls a green blob at people..and he has a burrow attack. he just merely slides as he "walks"
over all.....nothing much. no sounds. his swimming is the same as walking...(i think they should at least go flat on their belly for swimming) he is a nice pet...but i'm not gonna keep him..not very partial to anything but the boss slithid and spiders...but that's it really...

again?

Not gonna lie, I wasn't looking at the restrictions. But this *is* called a Random Pet Challenge, the more you limit the system the less random your choices. I have hand selected each one of the rolls, would you be willing to do this one non rare one and next time I'll give you a rare?

sure. i do have a couple non rares. like my boar from shadowmoon valley or my Nether Ray that i made sara run me though a dungeon for.

Green Madexx. Found him purely by chance while camping blue. I liked his colors and tamed him. He's not a hard tame at all, though he does spit poison, so if you're extremely badly geared, you may want to set a trap, but its not necessary. You could be naked and tame him, really. Greeny being tamed and just walking in the wild; you can see how huge he is compared to a player. Its a pity he shrinks so much after tame. I'd love to walk around with a giant scorpion out. It is not me taming in the first picture, but since I had mine tamed already, I just took a pic of one being tamed. Green spawns very often on my server:

Idle Losty and him doing the scorpid claw dance:

Overall, same as blue Madexx, except green. And a lot easier to find, at least on my server. He's up quite often. I like his coloring and think he is the second best Madexx color, after blue. Possibly bronze is cuter. Still, if you find green, like blue, don't hesitate to tame it. He's a very cute, hardy little fellow and makes a fairly good tenacity pet.

Here is a chronicling of my adventures with a Green Turtle, aka, Aesop:

Upon discovering I had been randomly rolled a Green Turtle, I remember accidentally aggro'ing and subsequently being stomped into the ground by one of these "peaceful" creatures on my lowbie 20ish priest years ago in Tauren Mill. I decided to return to the scene of the crime and make friends with one of these guys this time. What a picturesque place to make a new friend:
Image

At 85 taming was effortless of course. Aesop didn't put up much of a fight:
Image

Aesop decided to show some horses that hares aren't the only things he can beat in a race:
Image

Then it was off to Firelands to do dailies and who just happens to be one of our guardians that day? Nat Pagel on his.....Green Turtle! A sign perhaps??:
Image

Nat and Aesop make short work of the mobs outside then we're on our own for the tough stuff:
Image

But Aesop proves that the evil fire elemental creatures are no match for him:
Image

After the heat of the Molten Front we decide to take a swim to cool off. Aesop took to it like a fish.....wait, no, like a turtle...and was very graceful underwater:
Image

Break time was over and since I have no cool mounts on this toon it was off to UP to see if old Skadi would finally drop a mount for me:
Image

Aesop bowled over the trash like a pro:
Image

He decided to take a break to gloat over the carnage and show off his super duper turtle shield shell thingie:
Image

Skadi proved no match for Aesop either. He held aggro the entire time and his health was barely dented:
Image

Skadi the Ruthless? Skadi the Lifeless is more like it! No mount this time so we'll just have to kill him again:
Image

While I never would have picked Aesop if it hadn't been for this challenge, I'm really glad I have him now. Besides the fact that he is a kickass tank I find him to be endearing with his cute little face and his light green body and yellowy beige shell. Unlike his flashy cousin, Terrorpene, Aesop has a softer more understated beauty...exactly like a turtle or tortoise should! He is every bit as gorgeous in his own way:
Image

We talked it over and decided to remain partners for a while. Here we are having a moment:
Image

Thanks for checking out our adventure. The End:

White windserpent. I tamed Hayoc, a rare in Dustwallow, but they can be found all over pretty much. Just go to Petopia and click windserpents and find a white one. The rares have the same model as the non-rares, so just tame whatever is closest if you want the model. I adore this windserpent and think she is beautiful. I named her Lien, after an albino dragon in a book series I love:

Side and behind views:

Lien in combat:

Beautiful front view of Lien, rather large, but pretty:

I adore Lien. I love the appearance and movements of windserpents. Even their combat animations are graceful. They are very pretty, graceful pets and even have great dps for a cunning pet. Lien is prolly my favorite windserpent. The albino model is amazing. They even have the eye coloring perfect for an albino model. Its not just albino-colored, she really looks albino. She even has the red eyes and no apparent pigmentation elsewhere. Her belly is darker than most areas, but it still seems to fit her. It really sets off the pure white of the rest of her body. The black belly scales do not seem out of place at all, strangely. I also played her in the water a bit and her animations are just like they are when she's moving on land. She looks like she's flying along gracefully, even though she is in water.

Name: Sarantha
Level: 85
Exotics: Yes
Restrictions: Will not tame monkeys/gorillas. After much debate, I left myself with an open stable slot to try new pets in, so just roll me anything that isn't a monkey/gorilla.

For the challenge this time, Poochyená was assigned the Brown Tallstrider, an assignment with which my boyfriend was less than pleased (he hates Tallstriders!)
I found my new buddy in Northern Barrens, and he was an easy tame. Here he is, in all his gawkward glory: Image
I named him Farfetchd, of course in keeping with my naming scheme this time around. As far as looks go, Farfetchd is much more muted than Mazzranache and Strider Clutchmother. He's earthy brown and pinky tones, but he takes on the colors around him, which is interesting and can be quite pretty. Here he is in a darker section of Stormwind, which makes him purply: Image My favorite thing is his silly hair-do. Adorable!
As far as models go, the Tallstrider's is certainly not the worst, but it could use some improvements, especially in the feet and the feathers. I actually found his animations really endearing, from his scattered, flappy-winged run Image Image to his headbutting/pecking attack animations. ImageImage
When he's idle, Farfetched kind of wiggles in place, but sometimes he'll look around and then whip around to peck at his silly bird hiney. Image This particular animation makes him look kind of 2D and flat, but it's hilarious and I love it.

The tallstrider's special, Dust Cloud, causes a melee and ranged attack speed reduction of 20% for 8 seconds. Farfetched actually came in really handy during several random dungeons, where the heirloom-laden tank pulled like a nutjob and the healer struggled to keep up. I can't say Dust Cloud is always the best for dps, but it really does serve a great purpose. I must say, however, that Farfetchd was THE BEST for pvp! I'm actually HORRENDOUS at pvp, and generally get killed more than I can do anything else. However, Farfetchd and I owned WSG, returning the flag three times and doing some great defending. Dust Cloud was AWESOME for protection against a big, mean Troll rogue. Here he is waiting for that jerk rogue to come back: Image

Overall, I loved this guy! He is so endearing in an awkward, flail-y kind of way. Something about the way he scurries after my hunter just makes him seem so incredibly loyal and loving. However, I am crazy bonded to my Strider Clutchmother, so I bade Farfetchd a tender farewell and sent him on his way.

BONUS: while I headed out from Ratchet to meet my new friend, I came across a GREAT SURPRISE
Image OMG! My main hunter has Pitch from Sholazar, but I've never actually had Humar before! Love love love. (I'm not sure if the name is right for him yet....still deciding).

More, please??

So, my visitors have left and I took my time to get my challenge-pet, The Razza Image

The white armored chimera can only be found as a level 40 rare in Feralas, named the Razza, but you have to have the Beast Master talent to tame him (so you must be at least level 69). He can only be found in one spot, so if he's up, you don't have to look for him.

Appearance:

I named my chimera Cassandra, although I'm thinking about renaming her, it somehow doesn't work for me.
Cassandra's white model is one of the four armored chimera models. Her wings and body are pure white while her top, neck, tail and wing-outlines are armored with blueish plate.
Image Image
The colours are so clear and well mixed, I absolutely love it.
What actually is a bit creepy is her jaw. The under part of it is so long, it just looks weird. But this seems to be only for the armored ones, I checked the pictures of the "normal" ones in Petopia and they look better.
Chimeras are really huge. In the top shot of her, you can see the little red dot of Findu's head in comparison to the huge wing span of Cassandra:
Image
Her size leads me to following problem: unlike other flying pets like parrots or owls, Cassandra's wings always seem to get in my line of sight. I usually don't mind, but when it comes to looting a dead mob and you have to adjust your camera angle to be able to loot it, then reset it to fight the next one, gets annoying. I started to send her on the next mob to be able to loot.

Sounds and animations:

Cassandra's idle animation is nothing special, she just flaps with her wings, moves her tail - that's pretty much it. Her swimming is the same like with all flying pets: slow flapping animation. At least I didn't notice anything special about it, but I really forgot to take a screenshot of it, please excuse me.
Her sounds are really nice: deep growling sounds when she fights along with the hissing of her stormy breath and her flapping wings. She is not really quiet ;) but I love it. It makes her so much alive and gives her a fierce personality.

Fighting:

Yeah, nice. Cassandra has a very nice ability called "Frost breath" that slows her target for 5 seconds. While doing it she spits first lightning, then frosty breath at her target.
Image
Image

Her slowing ability makes her a good pvp-companion. I took her to several battlegrounds with Findu and we really had fun scaring of warriors, rogues and deathknights with "groaaar-cloud of lightning and frost-big red chimera hissing-robbing all sight". I never died in this battleground when the fight was even (read two melees against Findu) only when they decided to get a group of four or more together to kill the owner of this highly annoying beast. It was really fun with Cassandra and I think my enemies were more than annoyed by her big wings always beeing between them and me, while she slowed them and I shot them until they usually died at Findu's feet *evil grin*
Cassandra has a second ability called "Froststorm Breath". It's a channeled ability that causes damage to all enemies stupid enough to run into it. It's nice if you know there has to be a rogue/feral somewhere and can't catch it with your light, run around with hissing and spitting chimera could work out. I usually forget it, one because its channeld, second because you have to click on it for the chimera to use it. But it really looks great:
Image

When we come to fighting outside of battlegrounds, Cassandra sadly didn't do so well. She is a cunning pet and I didn't specc her towards survival abilities, but to damage and pvp, so she took quite some damage while fighting the mobs in Hyjal for our dailies. But I really liked the irony of fighting the fire elementals with her frosty powers "Hey there, cool down a bit!".
Image

Conclusion:
I absolutely love chimeras. I already have the purple one with Findu (Nuramoc). I tamed him when she was stille blonde, but now he doesn't fit her red hair anymore. I'm still not sure what pet to keep, at the moment I'm keeping both until I have decided.

Next roll please :)
Name: Morga (orc)
Level: 85
Exotics: yes
restrictions: same as ever: no diseased pets, no monkeys gorillas
rares he has: some of the spirit beasts, some cats, don't bother to roll rares, if I already have them I will happily write a review about them.
