So, my visitors have left and I took my time to get my challenge-pet,
The Razza
The white armored chimera can only be found as a level 40 rare in Feralas, named the Razza, but you have to have the Beast Master talent to tame him (so you must be at least level 69). He can only be found in one spot, so if he's up, you don't have to look for him.
Appearance:
I named my chimera Cassandra, although I'm thinking about renaming her, it somehow doesn't work for me.
Cassandra's white model is one of the four armored chimera models. Her wings and body are pure white while her top, neck, tail and wing-outlines are armored with blueish plate.

The colours are so clear and well mixed, I absolutely love it.
What actually is a bit creepy is her jaw. The under part of it is so long, it just looks weird. But this seems to be only for the armored ones, I checked the pictures of the "normal" ones in Petopia and they look better.
Chimeras are really huge. In the top shot of her, you can see the little red dot of Findu's head in comparison to the huge wing span of Cassandra:

Her size leads me to following problem: unlike other flying pets like parrots or owls, Cassandra's wings always seem to get in my line of sight. I usually don't mind, but when it comes to looting a dead mob and you have to adjust your camera angle to be able to loot it, then reset it to fight the next one, gets annoying. I started to send her on the next mob to be able to loot.
Sounds and animations:
Cassandra's idle animation is nothing special, she just flaps with her wings, moves her tail - that's pretty much it. Her swimming is the same like with all flying pets: slow flapping animation. At least I didn't notice anything special about it, but I really forgot to take a screenshot of it, please excuse me.
Her sounds are really nice: deep growling sounds when she fights along with the hissing of her stormy breath and her flapping wings. She is not really quiet

but I love it. It makes her so much alive and gives her a fierce personality.
Fighting:
Yeah, nice. Cassandra has a very nice ability called "Frost breath" that slows her target for 5 seconds. While doing it she spits first lightning, then frosty breath at her target.
Her slowing ability makes her a good pvp-companion. I took her to several battlegrounds with Findu and we really had fun scaring of warriors, rogues and deathknights with "groaaar-cloud of lightning and frost-big red chimera hissing-robbing all sight". I never died in this battleground when the fight was even (read two melees against Findu) only when they decided to get a group of four or more together to kill the owner of this highly annoying beast. It was really fun with Cassandra and I think my enemies were more than annoyed by her big wings always beeing between them and me, while she slowed them and I shot them until they usually died at Findu's feet *evil grin*
Cassandra has a second ability called "Froststorm Breath". It's a channeled ability that causes damage to all enemies stupid enough to run into it. It's nice if you know there has to be a rogue/feral somewhere and can't catch it with your light, run around with hissing and spitting chimera could work out. I usually forget it, one because its channeld, second because you have to click on it for the chimera to use it. But it really looks great:
When we come to fighting outside of battlegrounds, Cassandra sadly didn't do so well. She is a cunning pet and I didn't specc her towards survival abilities, but to damage and pvp, so she took quite some damage while fighting the mobs in Hyjal for our dailies. But I really liked the irony of fighting the fire elementals with her frosty powers "Hey there, cool down a bit!".
Conclusion:
I absolutely love chimeras. I already have the purple one with Findu (Nuramoc). I tamed him when she was stille blonde, but now he doesn't fit her red hair anymore. I'm still not sure what pet to keep, at the moment I'm keeping both until I have decided.
Next roll please
