PorrasouxRex wrote:So am I the only one disappointed here? It seems like Blizzard listened to the hunters about other classes stealing the rares, and is trying to do something different like the pet challanges. But....it's like they "kept" the different missing skin colors for the existing new families, and then used them for this new feature. Which, I'm very impressed by the idea. But at the same time, hunting just for a different color as simple as "Oo, that's a blue one!" and the red or brown are common. Kind of like the Spiders of Firelands. Sure, the new hunting challanges were fun...but the only thing that stood out were colors.

Cataclysm introduced massive creativity, and listened more to the community I personally feel. Like, making Terrorpene, a fire turtle. Rare. That is something worth looking for I feel. Or Karoma, a retired skin being brought back. Or Sambas, a unique looking lion. We even got to tame BOSSES from old raid instances. So far, I'm hardly seeing any of that. Silkworms and Pines....yay? What about Mushans, or Yaks? Are they too intelligent? Or the Pandarian brain bugs, or Sand Reavers, or the Animal Gods (Loque style) or ZA bears, more armored raptor types, more Dog types, more Goats added?

Part of me is wondering why the skins are exciting, other than the fact it's a new way to get hunter "rares"?
Yeah... I really appreciate getting any "rare" things at all, before someone bumps in and says that... but at the same time, there aren't many unique things about these. I'm also a little surprised at the efforts taken to make these simple skins unique: rather than making another interesting skin type of fen strider, they changed all the old ones with a certain skin... I think that's a bad way to work around what would've been a nice solution.

Cataclysm brought us new dogs and beetles, but we didn't get any rares of those: instead, we got rares which fit the zones they are in (as do most of these.) But Madexx the scorpion, Terrorpene: a fiery turtle, or Sambas: a cat, those are not new families, and yet they are still interesting rares with unique skin and model colors (until some new scorpions were added). Not to mention loads of spirit beasts, alongside other unique-skin rares like Jadefang. Lord Kri, Yauj, and the like were all bosses made tameable silithids... is it that hard to make Fankriss and Kurinaxx tameable silithids as well? I'm sorry for sounding like a whining, needy little brat- but there are so many potential beasts that could still be made tameable with relative ease.

So I found the Mysterious tracks again and I managed to follow them all around the zone, but they all eventually disappeared on me, even while I threw flares.

So I don't really get what I'm supposed to do...?

From the screenshot minimap, there is water to the east so I am guessing eastern part of zone. Searching now. That is the only one I am interested in myself.

We chased him pretty far west, so I'd search along that row, basically.

If anyone sees me flaring at this point, I'm not hunting; I'm pulling more Crazy Ivans. :D

Random Derail...

I guess the other thing to take into consideration is that if blizzard did give us everything, then they would be very limited to what they could give us later?

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely love (and look forward to) to tame all sorts of other things, but all in due time I guess. If we got everything all at once, then what would we have to look forward to...? As much as it may seem like madness to some, there is a little method to it I believe.

http://www.acagamic.com/research/biofee ... me-design/ ;)

From memory, the models such as sambas, terror, maddex, were models that were already added into the game for other reasons. They were mounts, mobs, etc. This gave the devs the additional advantage to take these and put them into the game as tamable beasts, with a lot less difficulty. These models already had full running, jumping, attack, death, etc animations, which are generally one of the big issues coming up against the eligibility of models becoming an eligible pet.

Thinking about it thus far, I'm not sure how many new beasts/models that have been added in MOP that are not a pets?
Maybe the Mantid battle tanks and Mushan? That's all I can come up with atm, though there could be a few others.

The thing to remember though is that these unique hunter pets that your mention from Cata where not designed for us to have a pets originally, just a very awesome byproduct of them being designed for something else, yet compatible to use :)

and now back onto the exciting anticipation of all these freaking awesome new pets! :D

.... RERAIL!

That sounds like it's a crane.

Anyway, how are these tracks found?

I'm not sure yet, but do we know if these tracks have a spawn timer attached to them, and if so, is it similar to rare spawns, are they very long, etc.

It's all so exciting, I wish i wasn't at work dammit! :(

Barely-visible seems to be a silkworm, since we're not far from the farm. But who knows!

They seem to have short-ish timers, SB, but then again, this is beta. ;)
