Technically a worgen is a skinwalker or a loup-garoux (which is the french word for werewolf) they seem to be a mix between the two since they do not transform under a full moon BUT they can when they would like too. Skinwalkers and certain Loup-Garoux can transform when the choose. Its like a werewolf but with self control and less primal however they can be savage and will give into primal emotions should it overwhelm them.

They can't be a skinwalker as they need to be wereing the pelt of the animal first before they can change and i have not seen may worgen whereing wolf pelts over them selves.

Not all skinwalkers need to wear the animal pelts - skinwalking also refers to shapeshifting without the use of the animal pelt it is also told in other lore and is at times referred to as skinwalking. But my point is I didnt say it was either I said if they based it off of something it would be off of those two because they do not NEED the moon to transform which these dont as well.

I'm just gunna stick with interdimetional curse from interdimetional beasts as thats what it is and i'm not going to compare it to anything in real folklore XD makes things 10X simple agree?

Well, WoW does tend to take 'typical' fantasy tropes and twist them in a different way. I'm sure we'll learn more about Worgen and how they work in Cata.

Lazuly has it right, though - thats what WOW does and they have certainly done here. LOTS of ideas and concepts in WOW stem from lore/fantasy tropes and especially DnD as do most fantasy games, thats a give in however. Love that game

Well DnD and Warhammer fantasy. The wow orcs do take alot from there warhammer cuzzeys. There not as Orcy tho

I don't think the present Worgen need to look more wolfy, they need to look more Worgeny! Sure Blizzard can do whatever they want but it seems they've strayed into the more werewolf/furry avenue from deviantart or something. :p
