No if you have to learn it by book then they're not exotic. Direhorns have shown that to be at least true. But I have to level the BM weapon all the way up? I have the marksman bow all the way up with traits... that was my primary. That makes no sense to me. You should only have to get at least ONE weapon up... not everyone is using TitanStrike and BM spec. That's just dumb on Bliz part to force you to level the BM Spec with no notice, but make it so EVERY spec can have it.
But, thank you for the information.

It doesn't take long to lvl the base traits, especially since they'll be giving us more AK lvls.

That's odd to me that it would require Titanstrike to have all traits. I thought the requirement just happened to say the name of whatever weapon you had equipped.
If it really is JUST Titanstrike, then that makes the New family even harder than exotics to get, especially once we're post Legion and people won't be farming AP. @_@
Personally I do disagree about it "doesn't take to long". Even when AK goes up, it still takes ~3 days to get 1 AK increase, and the traits cost way more AP. So it will take awhile. But that depends if it's just the New base traits or news base traits + new ranks on old traits. XD
Either way, it's not the worst really, I just want my feathermanes asap lol

Post Legion, there won't be any Artifacts. Blizz plans on removing them. They'll most likely remove the requirement.
Even if it does take a while, I would rather have Feathermanes be something earned rather than just freely given or easily acquired.

Artifacts would not be removed, it would just be not relevant for the next expansion, as much as WOD garrison in Legion. They would not remove the main content of the expansion.
Having said, they will probably a lore reason through quests that will explain why your artifact is 'useless' at the end of the expansion.

They have said that, for all practical purposes, they will be removed. You'll only be able to acquire the basic skin. All of the others will be unobtainable. AP will probably be removed and the few achieves associated with it will be made into FoS's.
And yes, they plan on giving us some reason within lore, in the final raid, that we can't use them anymore.

Also remember the book is BoAcc, so once you get it, you can mail it wherever, even across servers/factions, so you only ever have to do it once.

Oooh, I'm with Acadion - I really, severely hope they change this to make it so any spec's artifact can be leveled to get the book. If they're not even going to be exotic (which, mind you, is what I hope for, because I adore MM and would be very sad if my wildhammer dwarf couldn't get a gryphon), why force people to play BM when they don't want to?
I understand that it doesn't take years to level another artifact, but including a secondary and otherwise pointless grind for all other hunter specs seems needless.

Alright, who wants to find the spectral gryphon?

No idea where to start looking. Also note that this one is a spirit beast, not a feathermane.

Hmm. I wonder if the Titanstrike-only requirement is deliberate or we're just seeing it unfinished. :/

The name means it really could be anywhere :p. Great that you've confirmed the spectrals as Spirit Beasts though. Thanks

You don't have to play BM if you don't want to though? You can play MM, and just switch to BM only when you want to use your AP tokens towards Titanstrike. Then immediately switch back. I have a nearly fully leveled MM artifact (save for the infinite trait) and not once have I played anything but BM this expac.
It really isn't that bad; especially when we'll be able to go up to AK knowledge 45 next patch. We still have the entire expac to grind it out.

No one's forcing you to play it, you can use tokens on Titanstrike now and then. Isn't this book the only perk BM gets vs what the others get for the class hall?

Pretty sure it is. Each spec gets a bonus item to unlock. For BM it's this, for the other specs it's mount recolors.
I think it's one of those things that'll be annoying at first, but you'll quickly forget it was ever an issue once you get a few more artifact knowledge levels. If you play SV or MM exclusively, that's another story.

At least it's BOA for those who still run multiple hunters (I kept 4 at max level in WoD, but in Legion I haven't touched alts with a 10 foot pole).

Not about Feathermanes, but:

@ The counterpoints/using tomes and such to level Titanstrike: That's fair! Especially if this is the only thing BM is getting.
Admittedly, feathermanes are for me one of the things that would be influencing me to play again or not- my opinion is very biased, as I already didn't have the stamina to keep playing long enough to level my MM artifact to full. So I very highly doubt I'll be able to level a second one too :,) I tend to prefer a more freeform approach to this kind of thing, but I understand that's not the way things tend to go in WoW and I get why.

Ohhhhhhh I hope that's a tameable corrupted!!! :'D
And all of this is so exciting!
You know, all this focus on hippogryphs lately has made me realize how much I prefer the Vanilla models. Especially in flight, the old ones have these lovely feathered wings, and the new ones just get chopped off so abruptly that it looks like a graphical flaw but that's literally how they appear in game.

I only keep one of each type of pet, excluding mechanicals and Spirit Beasts, so I'd ditch my Lone Hunter for this bad boy. Put his appearance on Hati, and I'd be happy as a pyromaniac in a red barrel factory.
I predict he's only in the Hunter's mount campaign. Gonna need to keep checking over and over where we'd normally find Fenryr in the dungeon when we're in the scenario!
