Incoming report about a really tricky guy:
This nice little guy can only be found in a BC-raid: the Sunwell Plateau.
Again my fiance had to be the one to group up with me and go there. Positive thing: we knew where to go. Negative thing: we both didn't know anything about Sunwell.
So we enter the raid, go around a corner and spot a group of elves along with a dragonhawk. I freeze the dragonhawk, my fiance pulls the elves. So far so good. We kill some of the elves, suddendly I drop dead. I didn't have aggro or was anywhere near the group. Then my fiance dies, too. We rezz confused about what just had happened. Sadly the whole group had repawned. Again freeze trap on the dragonhawk and a careful pull via death grip of my fiance. We kill most of the elves and AGAIN I die. I had paid attention, no aggro, no casts on me. My life dropped from a 100% to zero. I release spirit and run in again, my fiance has managed to survive with about half of his health and now is followed by the angry dragonhawk. I throw a trap, he ignores it and is still after my fiance. I try to take the aggro via the shot that gets you aggro, he goes at me, but just for a moment and turns back. I shoot again and finally manage to freeze him, his health already only at about 60%. I hit tame and he becomes mine. Confused and a little bit frustrated (hey, level 70 mobs killed us, me twice!) we decide to let Sunwell be Sunwell and decide to visit Kael'thas instead. My new dragonhawk didn't get a chance to do much, because I pretty much oneshotted the mobs, but he worked like a good luck charm. It was my second time in this dungeon and I had never ever had the hope to ever get the phoenix hatchling, but thanks to fate it dropped. My second run! Perhaps my new dragonhawk is a good luck charm?
I named my new friend Prometheus, after the greek god who was known as the creator of animals and mankind and the god of culture. It seemed to fit.
We visited the little orc child Jaga in Orgrimmar, who has the same pet. Big Prometheus and little Spooks seemed to have a lot to tell each other.
Appearance:
Prometheus is the only dragonhawk skin I always admired. He's stunningly beautiful with the blue and purple body while his wings' tips almost are green. I never would have tamed this pet (simply because I hate every kind of raid) if he hadn't been my challenge. I know, I could have taken the owl, but I wanted a real challenge and he was well worth it. He is quite big for a hunter's pet if he stretches out his wing. I like it.
Something that has already been mentioned by several people is the lack of feet. I like flying pets, but every pet needs to sit down once in a while and I wonder what Prometheus does. Does he curl up like a snake with wings? Vephriel made a remodel in some thread where she made the dragonhawks have feet. I would love Prometheus to have feet.
Sounds and animations:
Prometheus' combat sounds are strange. I can't really describe them, perhaps something like a coughed snarl?! But they seem to fit this strange creature. Out of combat I didn't notice any sounds. Not even a flapping, but perhaps my volume was not up high enough.
His swimming animation is the same as his flying: flap - flap - flap only slower and more graceful than than in the air.
The only idle animation besides the flapping of Prometheus is to move his head ever so slightly frome one side to the other like looking around bored.
So his animations and sounds are quite boring, I couldn't find anything special.
Fighting:
What Prometheus is lacking in animations he makes up during a fight. He really is fun to watch.
First he uses his special ability Fire Breath, then he attacks the target with everything he has: wings, tail, head. He rises in the air to scoop down on his target, then attacks with his wings, and then hits with his tail. This makes him appear very active and I enjoyed watching his "show".

The last time I played with a dragonhawk was when they still did fire damage as their special ability. This has been changed to a debuff on the target which increases the taken magical damage by 8%.
Because of this debuff I decided to go to a dungeon with him. It was Deadmines (I swear, this dungeon is haunting me, it pops up every single time I want to do a dungeon!) together with a shadow priest and a mage for damage. Both were poorly equiped (I think they just had enough gear to go into a heroic) and so I think Prometheus' debuff helped them a lot to make their 8k dps. I noticed that Prometheus tries to keep up the debuff on as many targets as possible (it is on a 30 sec cooldown, even shorter as BM, but lasts for 45 seconds), which I think is really nice. If you switch target and it already has the debuff, that increases your damage. We made it through the dungeon without a wipe and Prometheus also provided good dps. I don't think I did more dps than usual, but also I didn't do less than when I have out a ferocity pet. Prometheus is a cunning pet and so I really was surprised how well he did.
For the icing on the cake my npc-scan blared at me while in Deepholm with my Shaman for the rare dragon Xariona. I couldn't find her with my Shaman, so I logg over to Morga and find her high above Deepholm. I land on one of the platforms, pull her and die. Of course I didn't look at her health

So I get together a small raid group with my fiance, a guildie and 5 other people and and kill her. My guildie got a nice robe, an other hunter a pair of gloves (I already have better ones) and I was really satisfied with Prometheus during this fight.
Conclusion:
Prometheus is a really good pet. I would have never tested out a dragonhawk with him (or any other hunter) but I now plan to get his skin for my purple collecting baby hunter Nerdanel. I don't think his fragile frame fits my bulky orc so well, but he'll definitly be sticking around for a while. Perhaps Morga will get the red one or a wind serpent (which provides the same debuff).
I absolutely love his colors and his ability is really nice to increase your damage with arcane shot. But I think it would be nice to have either a wind serpent or a dragonhawk as ferocity pet. Both pets are cunning and I would love to have one of them with a ferocity tree.
edit: as long as Prometheus sticks around with Morga, his stables are full. So this time a roll for Finduilas.
