This is true but I'm pretty sure they'd take into account how many people they would LOSE for doing such a thing.
Yeah it was some stupid complicated crap they threw together. It was never fully explained.

The only way I could see us ever going into the emerald dream was if the nightmare was spilling out into azeroth. (maybe thats the mist THE NIGHTMARE HAS BROKEN FREE INTO AZEROTH ON PANDARIA!)

There is no charge for awesomeness. Or attractiveness.

That explains why I'm not rich.

Rofl. Maybe but I doubt it since Malfurion pretty much took care of it.

Blizzard scrapped the idea a while ago. There was a blue post somewhere about it too I think. So yeah. No Emerald Dream....especially since Emerald Dream would be extremely lore shattering.
but they can always retcon. The reason there is no way they can do it anytime soon is because malfurion is out of the dream. Before he left he locked the nightmare in the eye of ysera. So until that thing break free there is no point in anyone going there.
You know how much of a fit that would cause? Druids ever since Warcraft have said the dream is a druid only place. they'd have to retcon EVERYTHING. x.x; It's not as easy as retconning the worgen. Worgen had very little to begin with. Retconning the Emerald Dream would require retconning druid lore.
Non-Druids have been into the dream before... I strictly remember my Hunter visiting part of the dream/nightmare in Moonglade for a quest, so while I know the druids try to keep it Druid only, in the need of help, I have no doubts that the druids would allow heroes to enter and protect it.

I remember doing that quest once... I tried to run past the nightmare it didn't go so well...

Maybe it could be a peaceful place then where players can get EXP for picking flowers and smoking elf weed. IT COULD WORK!

The Hyjal quests also took you into the Nightmare, as you led the captive Fandral out of the barrow.

There is also the quest in Darkshore where you lead a green dragon out of a cave, and a nightmare.
But otherwise, the problem with the Emerald Dream is Garrosh would quickly order people to cut every damn tree down. Druids would get pissed at desecrating their places, and kick people back out. And I believe Blizzard respects its own game enough to not make druids not care about this.
Grr, why can't this BlizzCon come already?

Yep. Also the quests from / involving Ysondre in Feralas.

... Assuming Garrosh is still leader of the Horde by that point

Who knows? There's been more than one hint there may be a shake-up before then. Plus your issues with the Horde entering the Dream rely on your projection that it's inevitable they'd be ordered to cut down trees. This isn't a given just an assumption. Even Garrosh isn't totally stupid. Just mostly.

Very true

. The storyline still hints at some crisis point for Horde leadership in the future. I guess we wait and see.
If they did make a patch or expansion with a major excursion into the Dream, the players wouldn't necessarily be doing so on behalf of their factions. A neutral (Cenarion?) faction could be involved and Horde/Alliance policy need never enter into it, making the entire problem moot.

True but currently the dream is safe so...there'd be no reason for anyone but druids to go there.

The eye of ysera was merely a set back!

agreed, just cause something is safe now don't mean it will be forever. evil can't be contained, sooner or later it's find a way.
i personally would love to go to the emerald dream in a more proper sense rather than green fog on screen.
i'd love them to redo Outland, maybe even add two or three zones to it in the process. A quest in Hyjal mentions it's been ten years since BC, so it'd be nice to see what might have been going on there.
Remember Subject Nine from Azshara? She and her raptors should end up on Outland, becoming the main protagonists. That would awesome and different and new and also a good excuse for some updated raptor models

The ten years he mentions are from the Legion's loss at the end of WC3, not tBC. It's been five years since vanilla WoW (see: Westfall quest where you witness death of Van Cleef).

It'd be so different and new that most people would completely boycott the idea. Remember "Rhonin raptor army" outcry? Yeah.
As for Horde in ED: the faction will obviously have presence in expansion's zones, or the war fanatics will cry that there is no war between Alliance and Horde, and as such "it can't be WarCraft!", so here goes that. Unless Garrosh goes, I don't see it.
