I think the picture dedicates that elements "god" or leader.

But you can get any species no mater which clan you choose.

The dragon they picture with the element should be that element's ultimate leader or whatever so I doubt they're obtainable.

They are the flight leaders so I doubt it

The biggest and most important choice in terms of appearance is that whatever your clan, the dragons you breed in your own nests will ALWAYS have the eye colour of your flight. If I had known this before, I'd not have picked Fire, as I really am not a huge fan of orange (whereas Plague's red eyes would have suited me perfectly).

So, Plague get red eyes, and Water get blue. You can see the eye colours on the flight leaders.

While I would prefer to keep this lil fellow I'm thinking about trading him for a Tundra female.

Oh well, orange are not the worst combo for black dragons and as I am going to be working on dark shades, it won't be SO annoying. But...but...red...

Typical I start a new game and don't like any of the starters AH well.

They might grow on you.

Dammit, so that's what determines eye colours. It seems obvious now, but I wish I'd known that. I've been wondering if it was random.

Oh well, purple eyes aren't bad in my case, but they don't know up too well on some colourations.

Now I wish I'd gone Plague though, I love red eyes. <3
