Griff. That's utterly epic. Hats off.

And with the 'faster running', my boar didn't get ice trapped, no. I started the tame, my friend threw the torch, it ran madly around as I spammed the macro, and it died and vanished at the same time. When it came back, and I was showing it off, I attacked something. The speed on its run seemed as if it were faster than other pets.

Did you try sending it to attack something? Or just having it 'run along'? And no, it wasn't specced into anything. I was simply sending it after an enemy before I did any tree-setting.

Also, remember the operative word here is 'seemed to be'. I brought out my other boar and compared it, but I couldn't compare them side by side. And we are talking the difference between a fiery aura armored boar and a hulking blue helboar. :)
Come see Kurasu's stables!

Other problem with the tameable worgen that my friends and I thought of is that Negrow is worgen backwards, and it's bad enough they drop chicken and watermelon in SFK, the taming of one could've also incited bad racist "jokes."

Faster running boar makes sense when not ice trapped. I had mine 'on ice' while taming and it's just regular speed. You also must have caught the speed buff next to the fire buff...

I'm looking at this and wondering if it is wise to start trying this out and collecting these pets.

I got the oil stained wolf a long while ago-before all this happened.. but now I am starting to wonder if it is alright? This is eventually taking advantage of problems in the programming of the game. Would Blizzard take action for taking advantage of such glitches, and if so, what would they do? Turn the pets back into basic sparklingly versions of themselves or something more? They allowed people to keep the original ghost wolf, would this be a similar situation or no?

Some of these guys are tempting, but is it worth the risk?

...But bears with glowing paws aren't a playable race. The worgen was probably because of the playable race thing tho. :/

<snip>
That was not the solution for the original Hunter "WTF" tame nor many of the other "WTF" tames

ZG Serpents (you could not feed them but you could take them to BGs for happiness)
Spirit Guide Wolf (lived for 8 sec)
Basin Croc, Hydra and Slime (Two are not tameable in any form but were left in our stables)
Now all of these pets...ALOT of them

The only one that was changed in-mass was Garwal. Tamed in a Humanoid form. One that is it. Unless I missed others while on deployment.

I dont think it will get nerfed. _IF_ we are proactive about getting the pets with damage dealing buffs untameable.
Perhaps I am just being overly optimistic.
Sadly, the problem isn't the Petopia community following the rules. Its the rest of the Hunter community. Thousands of Hunters read these forums and don't post and aren't "part of the written community". There will be exploits and malicious players, that's just how things go.

(And the reason I have the first quote quoted is because I'm addressing both quotes here)
There is a VERY large difference between the ZG serpents, Grimtotem Spirit Guide, and the Ghost Hydra pets and these pets here. The difference is there was no exploiting of the actual system. D:

Grimtotem spirit taming was using in-game items, spells, and gems in order to achieve enough haste to tame a mob as a beast in the short time span it lived. There was nothing exploiting about it. If anything it was a bug of "unintended tameable beast" and Blizzard let it slide because there was no real harm done: Hunters achieved the pet using normal in-game methods. These pets can die, enter arena, and participate in normal gameplay without loss of the unique appearance because they were intended to look like this.

Garwal and the Oil-Stained pets are a bit different then this. They involve taming a pet and letting the tame finish as the pet self-despawns. Fairly normal game play, though you're slightly taking advantage of normal coding in order to achieve a tame. This has been known for awhile and the fact it's been left in-game is probably because Blizzard doesn't see it as malicious. However, these pets are interesting because you cannot take them into arena or they loose their "buff" which causes these appearances.

Now, these recent findings are far faaaaaaar different then the above two listed "unique pet" categories. These involve irregular gameplay in order to basically trick the system into letting you have pets with any buffs/debuffs, including pets that have active buffs/debuffs that cause extra damage and are outside the norm. There is something inherently different about taming these as it involves forcing pets to despawn and logging out in order to trick the system (basically) into recognizing that you still have a pet and that it now retains the buff it had in the wild. These are also different that they inherently cannot die at all or they lose the buff, which makes them slightly different then other pets.

So saying these pets are "just like other unique previous pets we've had" isn't true. These are unlike previous encounters with 'wtf' pets. And I wouldn't expect Blizzard's response to be "just like with the grimtotem guides and ghost hydras" because they're obviously not the same types of issues.

Again, I'm am a fan of some of these pets. They are pretty stunning and downright cool, but I'm also saying that if you tame one, take it with a grain of salt. Whether you keep it or not, keep in mind that these pets probably won't be permitted for long and that you should enjoy them while you can.

I didn't say anything at all about bears with glowing paws in the post you quoted. People keep saying that Garwal was changed because Blizzard didn't want to make a playable race tameable, and the poster I quoted said there aren't tameable druid forms.

Night Elf bear druids ARE a playable race/class combo and Arcturis looks just like them, only with a ghost effect slapped on him. Not to mention, the black and golden crow models are both druid flight forms and the cheetah cats are the same as travel form.
