Cow, I think the "graceful feathered bird" people are referring to is the hawk. A hawk is a very graceful bird. This mount doesn't look graceful at all because of the skeleton/animation they are using for it. Dragonhawks in this game are VERY graceful, the way they slide through the air,the bobbing character is kind of annoying, but I think people's characters should be laying down for this flying mount (well most flying mounts ) Your right, it doesn't have feathers, but the way they put the "flames" makes them look like feathers see. And not sure what u mean by I mean "in game the Phoenix is not a bird at all yet it looks like one." this statement confuses me. i personally dont care for the proto drake type mounts, but none of them were exceptionally cool. but even with the proto drake skeleton the firehawk mounts have really cool skins.

that said; its a flying mount, if you're one of the lucky ones to obtain one, you're mostly gonna use it to fly around, i'm sure it'll be almost as cool as Alar mount. if you like to afk in the city and show it off but dont like the "land" graphics then just hover a little above the ground.

as far as spending a lot of time raiding to get the raid mounts. most of your (hardcore) top 1-500 guilds only spend 6-9 hrs per week raiding. why so little time spent? they dont wipe, they dont mess around, they dont make mistakes, they one shot everything and clear everything in 2, maybe 3 days. these guilds have the highest skilled players (the creme de la creme), these are the guilds which every raid member has an Invincible mount, head of mimiron mount, etc.

the majority of your semi-hardcore progression guilds (top 500-1000 guilds) are gonna have a few wipes, are gonna have a few mistakes, thus requiring a 3-4 day raid week.

and the lesser casual guilds are gonna wipe a lot and are gonna need a 5 day (15hr) raid week.

They are horrible looking, it's as if a Blizz employee had their kid design them >.<

The Hippogriff, Raptor and Cat mounts however, look awesome.

The hawk looks nice, but does looks wonky on the proto-drake skeleton to me. I have to admit, though, that I'm completely disappointed with the raptor/nightsaber. The raptor is ok, but the nightsaber.. just, wah? They can't be serious. Hopefully it will change.

I have to disagree on the Cat part.

This new raptor and panther absolutely pale in comparison to the gorgeous raptor and ZG tiger. I mean the raptor looks cool, hey at least I have a chance at a raptor! But that Panther? I'm sorry, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's an unfinished model. There's no armor on it (which while I'm normally ok with), which doesn't even make it look anywhere near as grand as the ZG tiger. But I know they won't add armor to it because then it'll just become the Darnassian Nightsaber from the argent tourney.

Which really makes me sad cause currently the panther mount looks a lot like the old Nightsaber model (back before there was the epic armor mounts added in patch 1.4).

I'm sorry I know I sound bitter, but I mean, I'll admit. Ok yeah I'm bitter.

I spent years farming ZG for that stupid tiger to drop and it never did. Then ZG goes away and Blizz says "hey! maybe they'll come back if we find a place for them!" and now that ZG is coming back, I have this plain ol' Nightsaber which looks quite similar to a mount we already have in-game (Darnassian Saber) whereas the beautiful ZG tiger was definitely a unique skin.

Yeah, I'm gonna go brood over that in the emo-hunter-ZGfarming corner XD And yanno, cross my fingers and keep a mantra that "this isn't the final version, its a WIP".

But! on the upside, the rest of the mounts in this patch look wicked. I totally want them all.

Lol wow i dont know if my comp was being rediculious and didnt load the picture before my post or somehow i was just completely oblivious to the fact theres HUGE pictures of each of them right above mine or what.. (i feel really stupid now for missing it )

I reeeallly like them, i really really like them... That is, i like the orange/red.... dont like the others but i may change my mind once i decide i want to lvl my new draenei hunter that will be focusing on purple pets ^^

It looks like a proto drake remolded basically. It has the same frame.
