Yeah, I'd wager this is why we haven't seen the worgon female yet. They didn't want to put boobs on the male version and pass it off...

I think the females of wow need more represenation in the Dev arena. Of course, then all females might have a "monthly automatic enrage" timer set to go off for a few days on a monthly cycle. Think "Tenacity" for women only. It would also set all "males" around them to hittable and crittable with no real way for them to fight back.

"Strongman: Daaamn. Blacksmith just got owned by a group of chicks with full PMS buffs. Get out, men! while you still can!!!"
/Strongman has left the battleground
/Killerhitman has left the battleground
/Ipwntjoo has left the battleground
/Runningman has left the battleground
/Deƅdman has left the battleground
/Princessbob has left the battleground
/Hawtchick has left the battleground
...
/Bonesalot has joined the battleground
"Bonesalot: Hey, where is everyone??
/Bonesalot has died
"Bonesalot: Daaaaamn.."
/Bonesalot has left the battleground

Unfortunately I know the answer to that ... It's so you can see their breasts better. *sigh* (I wish I was kidding, but I've had this conversation with game artists. Except they said 'boobs'.)

Alright, so, this line. Was extremely unnecessary and completely not true.

Because only the Alliance wants a race to actually look good and not like it got hit upside the head with an ugly stick, right? Not a single horde doesn't love the old Female Tauren or Troll models.

They got changed for a reason.

I wish I could be as jaded as you.

My wife likes the 'sexiness' of the troll and BE models. For people into finer asthetics, looks are important... not just the kiddies ZOMGBEWBS point of view. As for me... I swapped to a BE male mostly for my wife :P. ...and I like being a very pretty man. (a very secure and comfortably married man :P)

Actually, I always appreciated how Blizzard could make some humans actions be monsterous and show how the "monsters' aren't so very inhuman. I really don't know how you could make the tauren and troll female models better than they are (although a good starting place might be the female troll's idle emotes).

The demographic that hungers for big, macho men and toothpick women with large breasts is a pretty large one. Look at the comparative rarity of orc or dwarf women, or troll men. In some ways, we're almost lucky that these "outliers" get represented at all. =/

I do wish female trolls were more... trollish, though. The two models are so sexually dimorphic that about the only thing they have in common is protruding teeth. Very small ones in the case of the females. And in their rush to straighten out the troll girl's spine, they made it about as stiff as a board.

In any case, I'm glad they touched up the MALE troll model.

That's a good point; people like different things for different reasons and we shouldn't assume too much about those reasons -- at least not without asking first. :>

My comment about the breasts, by the way, was aimed more at game developers and what they think people want than what people actually want. (Remind me to tell you sometime about a certain CEO at a certain game company who thought that getting my sign-off on gratuitous-sex ads would somehow make it okay with our female and/or older players. *cough*)

I really like Blood Elves, actually, although I rather wish they hadn't bulked the males up so much. I also wish they didn't wear quite so much armor ...

Yeah, I was really saddened to see that they were forced to put all the blood elf males on muscle steroids or something due to a bunch of people whining that their original model looked 'too gay'. -.-

Heh, and it probably seems hypocritical for someone who's main is a female blood elf to be saying the girl races shouldn't be so pretty, but I honestly prefer the old Trolls and such, and I really enjoy female orcs and even dwarves.

Hrm, well, I like my troll just fine >_>

I wouldn't mind if she slouched a little bit, though. Seems like she's standing too erect sometimes.. but I'm fine with the face and everything.

As for the female Tauren, I'm very happy they made them less chunky. My druid and shaman and very grateful!

That's cause you took the only decent-looking face, Jak. xD (As did I, so don't take that as a criticism...)

Wasn't part of the reason they were bulked up because their models were breaking? As in, they were so thin that wireframe/skeletal structure started poking through?

Because if that's the case, it's not because they're 'too gay,' it's because they weren't made and tested properly O_o

Hm, I didn't hear anything about a broken model. If you look at the guards in Silvermoon City they're actually using the original Blood Elf male model - the thinner one. The main reason they changed that I heard was a flood of QQ came in saying that they were too wussy looking, too feminine, and of course 'too gay', so they beefed them up to make them manlier. =S

No, it's true; the male belves were beefed up because they were too slender for the skeletal frames. They kept poking through... And I, for one, appreciate the fanservicey upgrade they got. >> 'Hem.

But when it comes to fanservice, I much, much prefer how the old female trolls looked, not like barbies with metal rods in their spines, bad teeth, blue skin, technicolor hair, and oversized feet. Ugh. I love the old model so much because they look cunning and savage (and, you know, TUSKED) and all those good things a troll should be!

Not sure how I feel about the female tauren; I think my druid girl is adorable, but the old model was pretty awesome, if a little fat-looking--the male in that shot has a thinner waist! Wish they'd kept in nose piercings and more threatening faces, though.

I hope player models get a revamp soon; we need them desperately. And maybe they can take care of the hideous female trolls then, or give us more savage and less "sexy" options.

Here are two images from wow.com that show the slender BE model and the more muscular model:

As I recall half of the reason Blizz changed the look was because of people complaining that they looked to feminine and the other half was because Blizz thought they would fit better within the Horde faction by looking more menacing with the muscular build.
But then again I found the whole thing funny because when introduced a few people said that the BEs where the "beautiful" race that were given to the Horde by Blizz so more players would join the Horde faction to play them. (Draenei were the Allies version of the Tauren.) And evidently since Blizz pumped up the male BEs they must have really, really wanted more people to play the Horde faction.

I'm ambivalent about this, because it could go either way. For example, while I personally like the updated druid models, I'm aware that alot of people disagree with me. We picked our characters' races and features when they were a certain way -- the changes that come with updates may not be entirely welcome changes. Will we be given an opportunity to change our characters' races and appearances, for free, should that happen? I don't know.

It's inevitable that an update will come sooner or later, buuut.... "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."

I love that old female troll model. Very.. troll. Whenever I thought of female trolls, I always thought of them as basically male trolls that where a bit slimmer, with a female face and all that. But still hunched, still with the awesome crouching sit... Not the thing we have now. Not saying I don't like female trolls, they're fine, but they look wimpy.

As for tauren females, I'm really glad they changed. They looked just weird before. Although I wouldn't mind if they changed a bit.

And finally, belves... I don't see much of a difference. Really. One is just a bit thinner. But if making the model a bit thicker will change animation bugs, then that's a good thing. *shrug*
