Oh wow. That's awesome! Me and 2 guildmates grabbed some for laughs; pics follow.
Incidentally, they often make that same idle "thump" sound that the Boss Silithids do, although much more softly.
My guildmates taming while I tank:
Tauren male + mini-beetle:
Tamed beetles:
And a "normal" beetle next to the tiny ones:
Edit--incidentally, I ALMOST didn't click this thread--I figured from the title that someone's pet had tanked a raid boss o.o Awesome find!

I won't lie...
I put Green Madexx on hold so I could go and tame this beetle.
I have the beetle.
Tomorrow... (or later tonight...) it's back to Uldum.

Already the possible names are tumbling through my head!

Was able to tame this today solo in 3-4 tries, make sure constant heals are on the bear and used a pot of speed before you abandon to help with the tame. Also move the bear to the other side of the room from where the nerub dies so you have max time to tame before anub gets to you.

This is an awesome discovery.

I tamed myself one today - although I already have
two beetles, I just couldn't resist this one. He's so tiny and cuddly and adorable! And if I sit close to him we both fit under his shield!
Of course, now I've only got one free stable slot. Need to downsize... maybe one of my existing beetles will oblige and shrink into the new one, since he's still not picked out a name for himself? Mmmmph.

I just went in with some guildies and we grabbed two. Then, when we were playing with them in Org, another guildie wanted it, but was afk when we were talking about it. We quick ran in and spent about 4 times the amount of time it took to go and tame them standing in Org with the new beetle pets. They are so small and so much fun it's almost too much. I've been giggling the whole past hour. The shield with Bestial Wrath is so funny, but not as good as with Camouflage. I can't wait to try my little guy out tomorrow tanking something. Farming Violet Eye rep will never be so much fun!

I absolutely adore this! Amazing find, and thank you so much for sharing! My tame took 5 attempts; like Fafnir, the Scarabs refused to spawn before the Swarm for 3 out of 5 attempts. The 4th, I died a split second before the tame took; final try, and I am now the proud owner of Napoléon. I love him!

Napoléon and Tiny Shale Spider are BFFs!
Just an idle question inspired by the post by Wain: if you had to choose, would you opt for him to be made untameable and maintain the small stature (i.e., grandfathered in for those who did manage to tame, like the Spirits of Sholazar), or keep him tameable but end up having him resized upon tame?
I'd personally prefer for him to keep his Napoleon complex, as that's where most of his charm (to me) is found...and possibly be made untameable in some future patch. Maybe I'm being selfish? But I absolutely love my Slimer (Spirit of Koosu), and am thrilled that Blizz didn't hotfix it to a crocolisk skin--and that we got to keep the Spirits we'd tamed. I think the same could be said for the Scarab...so, out of curiosity what are your thoughts, fellow hunters?

The only appeal to me is his stature, so if he was hotfixed away to be a normally-sized scarab, I'd get a stable slot back! If he was made untameable in the future, well... that's not a new precedent and I suppose I'd be okay with that to some extent, assuming those who had him got to keep him (unlike my guild leader's Sandfury Guardian from back in classic, which lost all ability to eat and which I think he STILL has in his hunter's stables, tho the mobs are now tameable again I think).
