Naw naw, you got it all wrong. I didn't kill anything in front of the NE Hunter. I killed the Hunter and then tamed Sambas while standing on the Night-Elves Corpse. There was NO killing of Sambas involved.

That's just as bad as killing the rare itself. :/ Bad bad karma. They had him first, you should've left them alone imho. But maybe you'll learn when someone kills you then takes your tame.

I've already learned that on a PvP server I gotta do what it takes to get the Rares I want. When I was camping Arcturis (my first) some other hunter around my level (74-77) got some 85 Spriest to camp me for a solid 30mins while he was able to camp freely. Lucky for me he didn't spawn and I got my own guildy to camp him while I tamed Arcturis when he spawned. I pointed at Arcturis then pointed at the Worgen Hunter and did a /lol /rofl/ /point /lol /lol /lol /no chat spam macro. He was being a douche and it taught me that I need to be equally as douchy to get ahead.

And thats why I'll never be on a pvp server. Douchy people can stay off my server and go kill each other/grief each other elsewhere.

I don't have any problems with PvP servers at all. I love them, it's what an MMO should be about, WORLD PVP! Hell, I used to play RPGs that when you killed a player, you got to loot his corpse and take EVERYTHING from him/her. It just made you all the better player in learning your class to it's fullest potential to fight off other players.

There is a suggestion I made a long time ago on this that I will re-post. If a player kills a rare "beast" that is tameable, That player be infected with a Revenge gas debuff similar to rez sickness that also does not allow them to port...mount, bandage..etc for 1 hour (of game play--not log out wait an hour or so and its gone). Be nice if a spirit version of the killed mob haunt them--as in follow them till the debuff wears off (stunning them periodically).

Can they loot...sure...and the Loot tears message should say something like "tear of the avenged beast". Another added fun debuff that I haven't mentioned is that players aggro table to mobs should be increased..as if they were level 20... Yay don't kill rare pets jerks!-- should all of their alts catch this debuff???

Blizz I'm not crossing my fingers on any of my suggestions.

On My server we have an in game non guild group called the hunters union...we track pet spawn times...tames/ kills.. and things of that sort...if u kill a rare pet desired by one of our 43 hunters we hunt you.. This is very effective. So far we have had 5 rare pet killers back off and locate the murdered pet for us so that they can come off the kill list. No one wants 20-43 hunters camping them :) Occasionally we get the rare jerk that doesn't care-- Yeah that sux.

PvP servers are fair game (we can go around and around about this one, and have in other threads), but there's nothing more likely to get you legitimately reported for spam than an emote macro targetted across faction boundaries.

I don't mind if I get ganked, or even camped (that's a lie, I mind and nerdrage, but it's my own fault for being on a PvP server and I realize that even as I'm raging)... but the instant someone starts spamming that crap is when the GM call window comes out (on BOTH sides of the fence, mind you—I accidentally contributed to a raid being cancelled due to attendance issues once because I reported a guildmate that was being an idiot with emotes and long spammy say/yell/trade macros when he refused to cut it out after being both asked and then told, and it was like his seventh offense or something, so he got a temporary suspension).

Thats not what WoW is about. You're playing the wrong game if you think so. :) Halo and such seems more up your ally.

Ugh, UO, where if you went into a PvP area you'd best have your good shit insured... *shudders* In any case...there's a reason for PvP servers, aye, but while competing for your pet, try not to be a douche if you win. Even if they act low, it doesn't mean you have to lower yourself. TBH, I'm a believer in 'let them have it, less competition for next spawn and I have a timer to work with now.'

It's called World of WARcraft.

Every Warcraft game has been about the two factions fighting eachother.

I refuse to go near PvP even with a twenty-foot whipstick. I've had my fair share of being ganked on my PvE server alone and all I can say is the PvP world can kiss my Tauren tush. :/

Yes, because thats the lore. There's a lot of games like that and they aren't pvp based. It's an MMORPG, not MMOPVP, but I digress. This isn't the topic to be debating that.

I refuse to go onto a pvp server just because of ignorant players who find it fun to ruin your game by going to lower areas and just camping you, or kill you while you finally found the rare you wanted so so badly because you dont "deserve" that rare. I understand the thrill of pvp as I quite enjoy pvping alot but ive been graveyard camped enough to not ever want to switch to a pvp server.

Theres a difference between just playing the game and being a ignorant douche. I am glad I am not on a pvp server cause if a person did that to me.. or my friend I would corpse camp him for as long as I could.. I would get my friends to camp him, I would keep an eye out for him, then personally go out of my way to kill him. This is why I am not a pvp server

The thing is.. How do YOU know how much time and dedication the person has spent on the camp?

Let's take my Aeonaxx kill for an example, as there was a similar theme there. I spent a couple of days camping non stop (just sleeping a bit in between), and at some point there was this Horde Hunter, who would come and try to /shoo me away, even kill me. I was 100% sure this was just some idiot who thinks he'll get a mount by camping an hour at a time every couple of days, with no dedication.

Fast forward to a day later, Aeonaxx spawns almost in the middle of me and said Hunter - I mount him and get the kill, and after bump into the Hunter who's now emoting /cry, /cheer, and everything in between. After porting back to Stormwind and gazing at my new shiny mount, I get a whisper from a similarly named lowbie: the Hunter had made an Alli toon just to talk to me. Turns out, he'd been camping for almost 100 hours, dedicated all the time he could for the hunt, and still lost way too many Aeonaxx spawns to other campers.

TL;DR: Just because you've never seen a camper on the spot before doesn't mean they haven't spent just as much time on it as you have. You have no way of knowing if a person has worked for the rare or not, and thus you are in no position to take the grand prize from them "because they don't deserve it".

My main realm is a PVP server and even though I sometimes hate it, in the end I would miss the danger way too much if I transferred elsewhere. Personally I do my best to be kind to others - I only start teasing members of the opposite faction if they start it on me first. Even then, I have enough respect for them to not try to steal their tame/kill once they have the creature tapped. That kind of behaviour just gives you enemies who will remember your actions in the future.

I bolded the reason WHY I love PvP servers so much. Once you attain that certain level of hate from an other player, World PvP is "GAME THE FUCK ON!" and it's a Kill on Site atmosphere that breeds even more World PvP. He brings 1 friend you bring 2, he brings an entire party....your whole guild is there, next thing you know 200 on 200 Southshore:Tarren Mill PvP @ Hillsbrad happens. (Well, not anymore since they basically made Hillsbrad Horde-Only) which is the essence of PvP. THAT I fucking love with every fiber of my being. Now, I didn't take Sambas exclusively FOR that reason, but it had a deciding factor. PvP servers are meant to be a harsher environment. There should be NO respect given to the opposite faction, this is a FANTASY RPG and you are supposed to be WARRING with each other. That's a fact.

Then why did Varian allow Saurfang to retrieve the corpse of his son? Why did Garrosh lay the smackdown when someone wiped out a peaceful night elf camp, and why won't he allow the Forsaken to use their plague? Why do your fellow Alliance show revulsion at what happened to Camp Taurajo?

War with each other...but war with honor.

On a pvp server, one can and should expect to have to watch out for oneself. I dislike douchey behavior and tend to become a very ugly Novikova on dealing with it. I can be pretty mean/spiteful and I really dislike that sort of thing. So I roll pve since RL butts in a lot and I'd rather not be dead while some wanker stands on my corpse taking the rare spawn.

That said, these days, all servers have labels on them with what pvp, etc entails. One /should/ expect to be jumped when something desirable pops. Some folks enjoy the tension and wankery. Not me. I play games to destress. Not get annoyed and grief someone back.

Edit: Though I disagree on the total war thing. There's a lot of instances of cross-faction kindness and I've met a lot of awesome Hordies on FM. Even helped a nice Tauren tame Jadefang by MDing her to the edge and dismissing my pet/feigning after she shot Jade.

This ^

I spent soooo much time looking for skoll in WOTLK, but to no avail, for some reason I would just miss him every time to a passer by or another hunter. Come Cata, I had resigned to only causally looking for him and finally got lucky. If someone else was hunting at the same time, they would have had no idea how many hours I had put in before cata, even though I was very casually looking for him at the time.
