Yup. that's exactly what I do. Heero is more than 'just an extra dps', he's been my companion my entire Hunter career. Sure, he's changed models over the years, but the spirit inside is still there. There's a reason he won't ever even be in my stables, because he's that important. He's gotta be with me.

I love my pets, and I am sad when they die, but I can heal them and I can rez them. Two seconds and they are back by my side. So I don't really have sentiments when they "die". I know in a few moments they'll be back and looking forward to the next fight. Occasionally I will dismiss them, but only in certain instances.

I do feel some sort of attachment to a few of my pets. Specifically Antiquus my wolf, Vultros the carrion bird, and Dionysius, my devilsaur. They all have some back story. Antiquus, for instance, was active both for my first Lich King kill and for my first Nefarion kill (after cata hit, of course). I have many of the others just for utility or because I thought they looked nice. Sure, I genuinely like them (I don't really keep any pets JUST to impress others), but as far as an emotional connection goes? It's just not there. At the end of the day they are still only data in a video game.
