We're taking her home for a bit. Need to watch her closely - if she doesn't crash, then she'll probably be okay.

I'm wishing Emily the best. I hope she'll be okay and come out of this on top.

Her status isn't improving, but as far as we can tell, it's not getting much worse. We are worried that she might be breathing harder than normal. Also, she's not really eating. Or drinking much. This... could be a problem.

Poor baby!

Have you tried giving her some rice and boiled chicken? Something like that is tasty, easy to digest and [hopefully] appetizing. *sends good luck vibes!!*

We're going to try rice and ground beef. So far she's eaten a tiny bit of wet dog food and a few scraps of donut. We don't usually feed our dogs donut, but I wanted to see if she'd eat. >.> Yesterday she was eating more, a few turkey meatballs.

Ughhh.
She went to MSU today. She's getting a transfusion and an expert is coming in to see her.
Turns out, if she has a *chance* at surviving, we have to spend around $3,000.
That's way more money than we have. We spend that and we lose the bloody house.
And to think, today started out a good day...

I'm sorry to read this, Lupis! At least, as Serendipity said, MSU is a top-notch place for Emily to be. If anyone can heal her, they sure can.

Things are looking up a bit. Another vet we talked to told us that she doesn't need the $3,000 treatment, and that just blood transfusions will hopefully work.
She's acting a tiny bit more like herself now.

I hope shes better soon. Our vet has a special wirey shepherd dog, hes a special breed in the fact that they tend to have the type of blood that is compatible with every other kind of blood. Its very helpful and she rescued him and now hes giving back to the other pets. I hope your Emily feels better, it can be scary when a pet has a serious problem I know.. I lost a kitty to a sudden onset of feline lukemia.

I apologize for not updating this, but she did end up recovering.
Until today that is. :-/
Last time, multiple $400 blood transfusions and lots of meds helped her pull through. This time we have no money for the blood transfusions.
We're going to see the vet and most likely put her back on meds, hopefully we caught this early enough that transfusions won't be necessary.

It's getting a lot worse really, really fast. Our vet warned us of a crash, and it looks like that may be what's happening.

I know this is a really hard thing to say and consider, but would it perhaps be easier (not only on your family financially, but for the sake of your dog as well) to just have her put down? I know no one ever wants to have to make that decision, but sometimes if they're suffering bad enough, it's kinder to put them out of their misery.
We had to do that to our American Eskimo. I loved him to death, but he got real sick all of a sudden on us and I remember saying good bye to him one night as my parents took him to the emergency vet and he had to be put down because there was no way we'd be able to afford the treatments he would need and he just looked miserable.

Funny that you would say that, because my parents just left and that's very likely what they're going to do.
First time I've seriously cried for anything in a long time.
