I reckon about ten cats per person. ^^

Well, torturing someone for torturing an animal is a bit excessive, donya' think? A much better punishment would be to just have them live in a packing crate for a week.

Do you realize, in the heat of this thread, you, me, and Cow sound like heartless monsters? :D

That said, agreed. Torture is also bad. Don't we have laws against that on people anyways or something?

That's just disgusting how people can treat animals like that. I hope they increase the charges on him, due to the kitten dying.

That's just terrible and I hope he is punished severely. It's not right to torture animals, just because they can't express how they feel in words like we can does not mean they deserve to be hurt. That kid is in desperate need of psychological help and I hope they force him to get some. Like other people have said, that's how many serial killers and abusers start out, by torturing things that can't resist.

Awww, poor kitty! It disturbs me that people do this to animals for entertainment. I hope the guy who beat the cat gets a just penalty, especially with the death on top of that. I don't think the kitty would have died if he didn't have the injuries put upon it.

You know, it's times like these where I'm grateful that I don't want to become a vet. I'm too sensitive to things like this.

*nods* Psychologists have done a lot of work figuring out what makes a serial killer tick, in the hopes that they'll be easier for police to stop. One of the hallmarks was random acts of cruelty to animals, and this is a pretty clear example.

Frankly, I really do think that some people can be so mentally ill as to be irredeemable; it certainly happens with physical illnesses, such as the late stages of a cancer. Let's hope that the FBI keeps close tabs on this boy from now on; that way, this boy's bravery and this kitty's sacrifice won't be for nothing.

It's odd; I don't feel any anger or indignation, just a hollow fear. It's like he's not quite human; he walks and talks like one, but he doesn't seem to empathize like one.
