I'm like Nub. I'm not huge fan of playing Pokemon Trainer. I have the pets I love to use, and feel guilty when I don't use them all. Heck, I'm about ready to prune them all right now when I log in, because they feel so useless to me. Picking and choosing is important, let me show you an in-depth selection of my stables, to rpove it can be done. ;) (And it's patch day, I'm bored!)

Okay. Let's look at Firewing, my hunter. Right here:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/c ... rewing/pet

Let's take a look at what I use, and what I like. I have 10 pets. Starting from first:

Aralos: She's my Spirit Beast pet that I use all the time for leveling. Love the heal, love the skin, don't want to get rid of her. She has sentimental value to me as well. On the PokeRP here, Solara my espeon was evolved through science and her final form was based off Gondria. Since Solara died and became Aralos, this is her WoW Representation.

Shadow: This is my oil stained wolf, who I don't want to get rid of. He'll eventually be renamed Fell, after a character in a book. He's more of a vanity fun in the stables pet. I don't use him.

Iorek: This is my armored wolf and my go-to survival pet. He's my pet of choice if I'm not in BM for whatever reason. I tamed him through help of old guildies, so he has sentimental value to me as well. Besides, he's named after one of my favorite characters, Iorek the armored bear from the Golden Compass.

Bayne: My Krush. He cost me about 1,000 gold or more in various supply getting, hours of my time, and many tears. There is no way in hell he will ever leave my stable. Sadly, I don't use him often as I'd like.

Moonlight: My Rak'shiri. My one pet that I love and adore. He was my friend for Outlands and for Northrend. I mean, when I think Fire, I think Moonie. He had a lot of RP relevance to me, and he's just the one pet I refuse to let go. I'd hold onto him, even if it meant emptying my stables. (Well, him and Aralos and Iorek. Top 3 for you.)

Impatience: A twitchy, whimsical scorpid I had to pick up for a pet challenge. I rather liked him, but I think he might go to an alt hunter. He just doesn't have much life and room in Fire's stables. He'd be better off elsewhere.

Lyra: Green kitty, daughter of Solara. Mainly for RP relevance, and am likely going to get rid of her.

Midnight: An old retamed panther of mine that was Rak's predessor. I had hoped I would re-click, but I can't. He will likely return to STV once more.

Palkia: Named after the Pokemon legendary. He and I had good times during HH. Not the same after he lost warp.

Solara: Again, RP relevance, will likely get rid of her.

So, I'll probably get rid of Sol, Palkia, Lyra, Midnight, Impatience. That leaves me with 5 pets in my stables. 5 pets I like. I don't think more slots are needed at all, you just have to decide who you really love and like. :)

It allows the choices we do make to have much more significance and meaning as life-long companions. As hunters, we have to separate the idea between what we love and what we desire. There's always going to be newer and shinier pets. We just have to decide whether they're worth the cost it takes to tame them.
Very well said. ^^
Very well quoted about something very well said. :)

But yeah if Blizz would bump it to 30, then hunters would eventually want 35, then 40, then 50 etc etc. Some people would still not be satisfied if they had enough slots to have every single pet model. Seriously. 25 is more than enough. For those who want more stable slots, how many out of your 25 are just sitting there as trophys? I personally have I think 16 or 17/25 filled right now, and half of them are just that as much as I try to mix up the variety. Trophys in a trophy-case labeled pet stables.

I think I've stated my opinion on this before on a different thread. That aside, I might consider purchasing more slots in the future if it became an option. Honestly, I can understand both sides of this debate. I can see it from the angle of the straight PvP/PvE types who don't understand the extra need because they never use more than a handful of pets (if that), I can also see the point of the collectors who want to hunt down and stable a ton of rares or different looks. I, personally, have a full stable. Why? Because I PvP, PvE, and RP. To be blunt, I don't see why more slots couldn't be a purchasable option for those who would want it, it would in no way harm those who wouldn't want it. *Shrug*

Someone else said it best - I like that we have to choose. Maybe I'm being a little too choosy, but I enjoy the fact that we can't have everything.
Agreed. If anything, the stable limitations mean that I am forced to keep only the pets I truly love. A number of my current pets would not exist if not for the stable cap, and I can't imagine life without them now. I didn't always see things this way, but the truth became clear to me once I really thought about it.

Same, and by this point I know no one will ever agree. It's always going to be the "too many slots" vs "not enough" vs "fine as it is."

Same. And they've had it in the past so it could always be a possibility.

Pretty much this... When my bond weakens with a pet I'll rehome it to a baby hunter, but I'll never abandon them. That just me it feels..... ungrateful for all the hard work they did....

I'll be rehoming Kirix, Skitter, and Karkin to my baby hunter... My bond isn't as strong with them.

I'd do anything for a color-changing Old World worg. Would solve half my problems.

I currently have in my stables:

* White Worg (Ghost Howl)
* Dark Gray Worg (Old Cliff Jumper)
* Brown Worg (Deathmaw)

I also have the Black War Wolf (armored Horde one) and would love to have room for the black and the pale silver Old World worgs.

I think the one thing I have never understood, but which comes up any time people bring up the idea of more slots is the mindset that "well, I personally would never use this or that, so YOU wanting it is really not a good idea". No, not trying to be snotty, and if it comes off that way, I apologize, but that is the best way to put it, at least from my head. ::grin::

I have seen loads of posts pleading for more slots for RP gear-- I don't use it myself, but I think it's not a bad idea for those who do. Posts asking for more bug type pets; I find the thought disturbing due to my insect phobia, but to those of you who love them, go for it!. I've seen people wanting loads of things that don't even come close to sparking an interest (anything dealing with raiding, and most instances) and, again, while it's not my mug of coffee, I wish you all well in your requests.

Saying you'd never use it-- cool; expressing your opinion here is why we're here... but saying its unnecessary, superfluous, or EITHER SIDE saying that obviously to either don't care enough about your pets, or just are a 'pokemon' style hunter seems silly.

For the record? I currently have 5 open spaces. I have pets in my stable I may never play with again, but which were once very important to my toon and having them with me makes me smile. I'd love some of the new pets, and am sure I'd want some in the future, and if I have to shovel gold into my stable to buy new slots, so be it.

Just my 2 cents on it. :D

I'm not sure I'll use more slots, because I'm not sure whether I, personally, can love and feel for that many pets -- nor have practical reasons for keeping so many -- but I know some people want to and can, so I hope they do expand it for them.

So far I adore Anevka, my ghostsaber, and I have affection for Baradis, my boar, even though she's not all that special -- but she was my first pet and the pet I did most of my levelling with, so that counts for something. She got me through a lot. I'm starting to care about my black maned lion. I may care about the white one I tamed today; we'll see.

Honestly, I'd like more stable slots. I adore pokemon and I like all 25 of my little guys. :/ I just don't want to give one up if other things come along that I like just as much. That said, I suspect I have ADD or something since I do rotate all 25 out fairly often. I got my Madexx buddies and my Spider Buddies and my Ex-Animate Spirit Cat Buddies and ... *explodes in a cloud of pets* And don't forget DEATHPARROT and -

(Although this does explain why I have SUCH a hard time picking a team in Pokemon. Too. many. CUTIES.)

Edit: Honestly, I seem to be in the minority but I rarely find a critter I have a reason to dislike. :(

I'm not personally interested in more stable slots from my own experiences. I used to work at an animal shelter with an animal cruelty investigation division, and we often had to deal with obsessive pet collectors--the condition of the animals would break your heart. I know pixels aren't the same thing at all, but having reasonable limits on numbers seems healthy to me.

But alot of people missing the point...

Having lots of pets = fun because you get to sit and wait and have something to do but some pets takes ages weeks or something like that, but yes maybe 25pets is alot.

Like i said if blizzard added special ( Feature ) As in random pet button.. You would be using all of your pets... The point is alot of hunters abit too lazy to go to there own stables to use all there pets.

This isn,t about Pokemon at all... Why do silly ppl go omg its Pokemon lets catch em all... It just funny how people say that..

Anyways hopefully they add more slots i don't mind paying real money for extra 10 slots.

:| Yeah, missing the appeal of that one entirely. Have what to do? Sit and wait? That's not my idea of fun at all. I would never use a random feature, because not all pets are going to be helpful in a group. Tenacity Turtle in a Heroic? Cat or Spirit Beast when there's already a Frost DK? No thanks. I prefer to be effective, and plan my stables accordingly.

I'm personally fine with twenty-five pets... I try to get pets that provide each buff type, just for the sake of utility, but even then I only have...what... *pauses to count* Six. Six pets that I use primarily, but out of those I tend to really only use four.

I understand the pokémon mentality of gotta catch 'em all, but I think the stable slots we have no is more than fine and practical. Enough space for the collectors and enough for those to have a decent arsenal of buff types at their disposal.

I'm more than fine with what we have, but I do think that an option to have more would be fine as well. I like the idea where you have to pay in gold or cash for it. Then, the people who don't like it won't get it.

I also kind of like the idea of a "spirit beast" stable. Again, not for myself, but for others.

Mostly I like the idea because I'm hoping that people will stop complaining and asking for more if they get this. Honestly, I'm just a tad sick of it all.

I disagree. A limited stable space keeps people playing more if they need to make alt characters to tame more pets and quite frankly I'm pretty sure Blizzard likes all the subscription money they're getting from that.

Edit: Not to say I personally wouldn't be happy if we got.. say 30 slots total or something and the stables have been getting bigger so far but it's starting to be pretty darn large at the moment already. :P

If we got a small amount more, I think it should be 10 more, which would add 1 page to the stable, make the actual stable hold 30, and make our total pet count 35.

Another thing they could do is: Make more *Summon pet #* spells. With a new expac, comes more levels (or at least it SHOULD...) With more levels means more spells. Currently, we unlock our bring-around pet slots by learning the spell, they could add a few more with more levels in the next expac if they needed. That way, we could carry more buff pets, it wouldn't really seem too much like a stable buff (even if it is), and we'd still end up with more pet slots for those who desire that aspect.

I've always thought that we should have enough room to have one member of each family.

I can definitely pick at least one favorite skin from each family. While I feel extremely bonded with each of my pets, my desire to play whichever family I feel like on that particular day is what changes. I will often look at my stable, and say "I don't want to play with any of these 25, but playing with a _________ sounds great right now!" Then I'll have to reluctantly scrap a favorite to go tame it. Every couple of weeks, I find myself going in a big circle, retaming the ones I had before. Am I the only one doing this?

I've always thought it would be interesting if pets were "unlockables" and taming them unlocked that skin. Collectors, it would be like filling a Pokedex! I know that's a stupid idea, but whatever.

I doubt very seriously anyone is missing your point. It's more that they're disagreeing with the point and /or have their own views on the matter.

I don't think more slots should be added. This is an old argument that's been happening since ............... forever. Regardless of if 100 + slots were given, for some it still won't be enough.

For myself, I cannot see using 25 pets and feel actually sad that a lot of my hunters' pets just sit in the stables. I don't want to use them but for some reason cannot release them. Gorebite is a prime example. I love him. Cannot release him. He just hangs out in the stables and gets chunky on his meals while he tortures the other pets with his games.

If Blizzard wants to make some sort of real money fee for slots then I could see that but not across the board when it's truly not something that's needed by any stretch of the means.
