One funny thing is that I probably witnessed about 10 deaths of hunters trying to get on the rock I was on. I guess they didn't realize that I perfected using my Goblin's Rocket Jump and not a regular jump to get there...

Yep! And that's why I'm a bigger fan of the disengage method whenever possible - anything that requires some sort of trick not to cause evading feels like cheating. >_<

Lol i did the shoot+tame on the rock almost every single time when i had my horrible ragequit moment, and then you told me the disengage method XD

for the ease of me not having to search for how the disengage method was outlined i'm sure in a few posts already, mind elaborating???

I came close without the rock (woulda had it i think if i had bloodlust going) when I hit deterrance right after he knocked me back and i hit tame. I'm guessing maybe his disengage to give yourself more room then det+tame after he knocks you back?

If you have 120k+ hp, you should be fine without them. 110k and lower, I'd recommend potting here (and/or using troll berserking) and getting a heroism/bloodlust/ancient hysteria/time warp effect just before you do step 2. Remember, the lower your base hp, the more accurate you have to be about timing everything; one extra tick can be the difference between success and failure.
5. Enjoy your new glowing green buddy.

Heh I tried the "dont shoot method" from the rock earlier since I just had to see if it worked after reading your strategy as well, and well by not shooting it worked the first time I attempted I have Kirix now and I annoyed 2 other hunters from the opposing faction (since I got him) that were trying the "shoot from the rock" tactic. With Ancient Hysteria I didnt even have to hit deterrance, tame finished before his first cast. I happily didn't feel cheap about doing it this way, I think after 16 or 17 deaths (lost count) my wow-morals went out the window.

Now I think I'm still going to park there once in a while because it is incredibly fun to watch other people try it.

I got the 100% haste buff from the vent and jumped on the floating rock. I hit tame, and 1 second later Kirix was mine... >.< I dunno if that was a lucky glitch or the haste buff.

Congrats! I keep missing the little bugger on Nes.. I wanna try him out on Reika who has.. I think 101k health? I am up for the challenge if he stops spawning when I log off. I swear whats with these rares you go from seeing them almost twice a day, atleast once per server and now all I see is the bones he spit out!

I was kind of a meanie and tamed myself a 2nd Kirix. Only because I didn't want some raid group killing him like they did last night and everyone else was failing and the only horde hunter around said he was too much trouble even after I told him how to do it. =(

Yep, they were successful last night in killing him. It almost made me cry for the poor little green guy. All they got was a 25g tear...I'd have taken him off their hands...but noooo

Ah, when tames attack back. Gotta love it.

Let me know when taming videos starting appearing on youtube. Some nights I need a good laugh.
