Re: Three Is (Never) A Crowd Trifecta - Edit: NEW! Guide+M

A fun place to chat about hunter pets in the World of Warcraft.

Yeah I was realid friends with him back when Cata first came out. (i think he unfriended me at one point when i quit playing for awhileKnightRyder wrote:Have you guys heard of http://www.notsorare.com/ or the other 2 sister sites:

Yeah... without those sites and the forums, I'd be absolutely clueless. I feel like I take it for granted that I know now most things about these rares, when really he did all the work and I just read it and took it on, but even though I'm done with camping (I think...), I still help out on those forums when people have questions etc... Very awesome! I was unaware of these sites. I will definitely be bookmarking them.KnightRyder wrote:Have you guys heard of http://www.notsorare.com/ or the other 2 sister sites:

I know this thread is super old now lol, but something about the first post bugs me. The fact it says never to camp for Aeonaxx/TLPD/whatever and instead just check early mornings. What I assume is meant by this is basically 'Check during the quiet times of the day when no one is likely to be about.' Well I think it's safe to say that some servers are not like that at all. My realm is considered 'medium' in popularity but there *ALWAYS* seems to be someone camping TLPD right now. In fact, as long as I have been camping here and there (Since November last year.) I've almost never seen the zone empty, even, and sometimes especially, at earlier times and late evenings. I think that's because everyone's got the same idea and has come to camp in the early morning or late evening when they think no one else will be camping. I've checked for Vyra/TLPD spawns before college before and I've found Vyra a couple of times in a row, but since then I've found nothing at all. Some realms are a lot busier than others and my realm seems to be popular for mount hunters and collectors. I much prefer to camp for a mount I want, I think it comes down to personal preference in the end. Sure, I do still do quick fly-throughs of the Storm Peakjs but I rarely find anything. Personally I just think, in the end, it's a 'do what you wanna do to get it' scenario.
Also I seem to be the only person ever who's taken much note of Vyra and TLPD's spawning situation since around the start of the year. Even Ponderance on TLPDResource hasn't reported on it as far as I can see. It used to be, for years, that when they spawned they would hover on the spawn point for a couple of seconds before flying down their route. They don't do this anymore, they just fly away the second they spawn. In fact it seems they've started flying away before they've even spawned! This gives whoever might be camping the spot a smaller chance to react quick enough. I now fear, while camping, that if I went to sit on my bed across the room and TLPD spawned at the point I was camping, I won't be able to run across the room and snag him quick enough before someone else. There's even videos of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUMazS84Tn0 - Old spawning situation.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dga0i07LaE - New spawning situation.
I kinda wish Ponderance would note on it to be honest. It's not a *huge* deal but it might affect people's chances at getting it. Especially since there has also been reports of spawns not aggroing straight on to the character, even if you're sat right on top of it when it spawns, until you attack it. Weird stuff. I hope people read this.
Code: Select all
Never sit there and just stare blankly at your screen, you'll lose it. I actually started coming up with back stories for a few of the trees on the frozen lake (since I heard someone jokingly say it), and when Fred, who was 21 years old started remarking how he felt sad about this Harpy presence because even when a adventurer kills them, they always seem to come back a few minutes later. He hated how they would peck at his bark without even asking (he would have been ok if they just asked nicely) and he just wanted to hang out with Bethany and Steve like the old days when they were in Sapling school.
Nah, I never stare blankly at the screen. I have had bizarre Time Lost related dreams though. Sometimes I get paranoid about leaving the room but the only time I'll watch the screen when camping is if I'm talking to someone at the same time or if my rare-spawn-sense starts to tingle. Honestly, you don't know how many times I've randomly decided to go looking for a rare and found it just because 'I got a feeling it was there' or, twice now, I've sat down at my desk chair without even meaning to and right as I do Vyra has spawned in my face. It's quite freaky at times.
