I really love my spectral pets and you can bet I'd be severely unhappy if they went away. My main pet on my main hunter is Gwyn my ghost saber. I love him to death and I love seeing more spectral pets pop up. I haven't really tamed any other than Gwyn (not including SBs) because I don't like their models, but I love spectral pets in general. Give me a spectral fox and I might just die of happy.

I want more spectral pets and less spectral spirit beasts. Honestly, I could care less about the spirit beasts. I have Loque (and Arctuis, though he may get released eventually) on Dona and I'm gonna get Gondria on Aela when she's high enough. That's it.

As others have said, don't tame them if you don't want them. But please remember that there are people out there who absolutely love those pets.

I'm a bit torn down the centre when it comes to spectral beasts. I'm all for them, I love the style of them, I love what they can represent in a RP fashion. However, I think that they've been over used too much in Cataclysm because of the positive response from Wrath. If they had released Mag, Ank, and Ban at different times during the expansion, I would've been okay with that. But to release all three, plus the spiders, plus Skarr and Kark, it's overload in my opinion. The spiders are the same way with me, if they had been released throughout the expansion, no biggie. But to unload all of them at once, it's a bit of an overkill.

I'd like to see some more opaque spectral beasts a la Skoll and Loque.

Well, they are Spirit Beasts, so I'd expect them to look ghostlike. But besides that, yeah, I much prefer Loque'nahak over Gondria/Arcturis/whatever because of that reason.

I don't remember trying to do it post 4.0 and pre 4.2, so all I know is it's now broken and I'm sure it worked in 3.x :)
