The mob Deth'tilac is a male (his emotes during tame/combat use 'he' and 'his).

Oh, really? I never noticed them before, but phew, at least that's cleared up now. ^^

Huh.
I always took Deth'tilac as a female. o-o
Well, I guess mine is female. I mean, it's my pet, not THE Deth'tilac. :<

I personally think that is fine. As long as it's not Sambas or Loque you're considering female.

Every rare apart from them, I think, would be fine.
Although the only one that grinds my gears a little is when people call Loque female.
JUST BECAUSE IT'S A PRETTY SNOW LEOPARD WITH A GLOWY BLUEY FACE DOESN'T INSTANTLY MAKE IT A GIRL. >:c

Doesn't make it a MALE either. If you want to call the named mob male, cool... but the one I own IS FEMALE... sorry.
Sambas has the mane of a male lion, so I'd give for that logic, but until Blizz throws male or female parts on pets, Loque and any other animal that does not have obvious Earth male attributes (the mane, etc) its up to the Hunter as to what sex their pet happens to be.

My pets become what I make them, genderwise, after taming. Loque is female, always, to me. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW HES HARKOAS MATE! She is female and has a female name. >.>
Sambas, eh, whatever. He was never given an in-game gender so can be whatever, imo.
As for the mane, well, this is a game with elves and dragons. Who cares?

True enough; I just would give on that one :

WoW this thread got so derailed. I din't make this thread for people to argue about pet gender but to share there stories of running into some one with the same pet as them with the same name. I think it is funny but than again i turn to that age old saying "Great minds think alike"
Pretty sure i mention i got mine way back in Wrath too it was one of my First Northrend Rares

Oh! That reminds me. The day after I finally tamed Deth'tilac and named him Spinel... I saw another hunter with one. The name was 'Spider', so she clearly hadn't named it yet. I ran off into the Molten Front to do my dailies, when I got back to hand them in, there she was again. She'd called it Spinel.
I've also had a hunter name his Skoll after me! Because I whispered hunters in the area to see if anyone wanted to tame him, and he was so happy I had.
