I swear to people I saw an unused lightning raptor model on a sandbox once, I had hoped it would be used in wrath, but nothing came of it.

Just my point of view:

All spirit beasts are lore-based off of Lore Creatures. A Spirit Serpent might make more sense than a Spirit Raptor because in no quests in the game is there a Spirit Raptor. Every Spirit Beast Blizzard has made has been lore based. Har'koa for example: The first spirit beast was based on her mate - Loque'nahak. There was a small portion of lore on Loque'nahak in Har'koa's quest chain and that's why Blizzard introduced Loque'nahak to the game as a Tameable Spirit Beast. Blizzard would need to add more quests or take some from the past to introduce a new one. There was some lore on Ankha and Magria explaining two cats died in the Flamewake. I figured i'd put that out there to clear up some confusion.

I wonder this as well. I've speculated on Gondria and how she came to be (I like my explanation, personally.), but unfortunately, it's just that: speculation.

I wouldn't mind seeing more lore on all the spirit beasts. I mean, they're supposed to be exotic, mythical creatures that hunters are bonding to, yet there's no explanation about 'em.

To my recollection Loque'nahak is the only Spirit Beast with some sort of lore, the others just...exist. And glow.

Actually, Ban'thalos and Dori'thur (not a real spirit beast) look like owl scouts, though that's not officially documented anywhere, to my knowledge.

The others, though....we know nothing about them.

Mind you, there's nothing wrong with speculation; I just object to it being presented as fact. ;)

A new spirit beast would be fine to me. A raptor or wind serpent. Maybe even a warpstalker! But just a rare would be lovely.

My top 3 choices:

1) A Warp Stalker Spirit Beast that pops up in Outlands somewhere. The reasons for this is because Outlands is still a place of extreme turmoil, it would spread the spirit beasts out a little more, and it would just be cool to have one.

2) A Raptor Spirit Beast wherever, maybe running around Un'Goro. If they do this, I'd prefer one based on the classic raptor models over the outland raptor models, just because the classic ones have more flavor to them like feathers tied to their arms and whatnot.

3) A Spirit Wind Serpent, roaming anywhere really. If they want to change it up, they can take the fossilized wind serpent model and have the lore around it being that the fossilized Wind Serpent "thinks" it's still alive. Otherwise, a ghostly one is ok I guess, and either classic or outlands models would both work in my opinion.

Add a beetle in there and I think we're good.

And I think last time we had about the right mix of rare non-spirit beasts vs spirit beasts. 7 to 3. Just not 5 spiders again... please...

I wouldn't mind seeing a shadowy spirit beast. Similar to the ethereal ones we have now, but black and/or dark purple with rolling tendrils of darkness billowing out from their form. There can be dark spirits as well after all.

I agree with Tahlian, in that we should back off of Spirit Beasts and Taming Challenges for a bit. We have plenty of rares to tame in game as it is right now, and I'd be okay if we don't have any new beasts introduced for the rest of the expansion. I, too, would love to have some more opaque Beasts, such as Loque and Skoll introduced for the next expansion, whatever that one might be, preferably those of a pet family that hasn't had a Spirit Beast counterpart (No Wolves, Owls, Crabs, Bears, and especially Cats, we've got four wondering around as it is!).

I just want them to be more spread out in the new zones introduced, and not find ourselves with (what seems like) 15,000 rares in one space where both Horde and Alliance find themselves toe to toe. AND FOR THESPIS' SAKE, NO MORE SPIDERS!....Please. Again, if the Spider Rares had been introduced gradually, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. Or, alternatively, that the spiders would be phased out until a certain point and then stay ingame from that point on (too much programming, I know), Deth being the very last to be phased in. But to be bombarded with 5 Spiders, 3 Cats, an Owl, and a Crab in one patch from the very get-go? I found it a bit of an overkill for me.

Just...slow it down. Spirit Beasts are a special family, and should be treated as such, BM, MM, or SV be damned.
