I'm pretty sure they said somehwere that your time from game cards does get added. So.. possibly only your first payment needs to be via credit card?
Reeeeally. Got a source for that?

From the extended FAQ
Can I use game cards with this promotion?
Any qualifying game time added to the account may apply to the 12-month subscription requirement.

No Eligible Accounts Available
You do not have an eligible World of Warcraft account on this Battle.net account to sign up for the World of Warcraft Annual Pass. If you already signed up, you are seeing this page because you have no additional eligible World of Warcraft accounts to sign up with.
For more information on the World of Warcraft Annual Pass, visit the promotion FAQ
So, that's what I got when I went to sign up e_e; Not sure why - read all the FAQ and nothing seems to be out of order. -facepalm-

Aha, found the catch: you still have to have a valid credit card associated with the account regardless of whether you spend a cent from it or not. And that's a valid hangup for some.

I haven't owned a credit card in nearly two years.

There was no option for 12 months. There was only options to pay in one month, three month or six month blocks. Your not paying anything more then you already do by going with the commitment. You don't really have to do anything but keep playing wow.
Ahhk ^-^ with the offer i was curious to know if they were for this offer only opening up a 12 month sub, it makes my math easier to know i can pay with 2 6 month subs (gonna activate credit card, apply it, then use game cards to pay it muahahaha XD)

Heck yes! I will be playing anyway. I don't have to changed how I pay. And I get a freaking awesome horsie, a free game AND beta. Oh yeah!

It can be a debit card, which most banks offer for free with checking accounts. They can be used like credit cards but draw only on what you have in your bank account.

The reason you have to have a valid card on your account is so if you skip on paying with game cards or whatever they don't lose any money and will charge your card instead.
At least I think anyways.
Im debating on doing this, but Im not so sure. My bf is planning on quitting wow when the exp comes out because he's starting to hate this game. (has nothing to do with pandas lol). I just don't know if I want to keep playing the game without him. (long distance relationship so its our main way to interact).

Yeah, i'm already on a six month repeat as it is, and I'm going to keep playing for...uh... probably until the day they shut the server down. So as far as I was concerned, it was like 'HAY. YOU THERE, LONG-TERM PLAYER. We think you're awesome, so here, have a game, a beta key, and a pony for being awesome.'
GC promised me a pony, after all!
Now I have one. And it is magical.

Yeah, this is exactly why I'd like to find out if there's some way of pre-paying through the year and being eligible without the card.

I've never had a bankaccount either. Live with my parents, struggling to get SSI/Disability to accept me and not succeeding snce I can't afford to get any treatments to have a doctor's record that proves I have the conditions I'm claiming, and have never had a job longer than a few months or paying more than minimum wage because I'm incapable of driving and only got the job I did have (which was in a different state and a few years ago) because it was reachable on foot.

You can stick a prepaid credit card on(available from post offices/supermarkets/otherplaces), and it'll check it for validity. Then you can keep using WoW cards, but if you run out of time it'll check your prepaid card for funds and try to use that. That's what I did, not owning a credit card <.<

I was debating doing that too, but wouldn't want that card to remain on the account, just in case. Any idea if Blizzard would remove said card if asked? (And assuming there's enough prepaid time on the account already.)

I would *assume* you can swap the card out for another. I don't have another to test to do so, but it seems you can't simply go to "no card on file" by cancelling your subscription - that option is blocked with the year commitment up.

Yes, the FAQs cover changing cards, etc.
What if I need to change the credit card for my subscription?
You may do so through Battle.net account management; doing so should not affect your 12-month commitment.
I have an active subscription already. What happens to the time I already paid for?
Any qualifying subscription time remaining on the account at the time of accepting the Annual Pass offer may be applied toward the 12-month subscription commitment.
For example: If you had started a 6-month subscription 2 months prior to accepting the Annual Pass offer, 4 months of your remaining subscription time would be applied toward your 12-month subscription commitment.

I collect mounts, mini pets (and hunters

) so it was a no brainer. Hell in for the money anyway might as well get some shinnies for it!
I think it is retarded that Paypal is not a valid option.

I've signed up. For me, it was absolutely a no-brainer. I intend to keep playing WoW for the foreseeable future, so as far as I'm concerned it's essentially "o hai, here, have some free stuff as long as you promise to keep doing something you would've kept doing anyway". Looking forward to the pony
