Even though I've been very critical of this new expansion I'm going to do it. If I end up quitting WoW I'd want to check out Diablo anyway so this way I get it free. Plus I can use the mount next patch and get into MoP Beta to see if it's really as stupid as it appears to be now. For the amount of time I spend on WoW it's a very cheap hobby so it's worth it even if I don't actually play for another full year.

Just signed up myself. It's ideal for some of my alts that have crappy flying mounts. I probably will only dabble in Diablo, but I will be looking forward to the beta access.

Wondering about diablo III, would I be able to download it via Steam?
I've never done digital download before.

You'll be able to download it directly from the battle.net site. I don't believe Blizzard has any ties with Steam as of yet.

For less enthusiastic players, this could be considered bribery. For me though, it's a whole lot of awesome swag for free. I think this is a fantastic nod to loyal subscribers, and I'm so incredibly stoked that I'll have a spot in the beta.

I already do the 6 mos, and since they announced the changes in Mists of Pandaria I have no problem committing to the next year - playable pandas are one of the things I was holding out for anyway. ^ ^

Not sure if I'll do the beta but nice to have the option.

Mount - cool. Not something I would have paid extra for, but certainly a neat bonus.

Diablo III - question on this. I haven't played any of the Diablos; is D3 freestanding or does it require D1 and D2 to play, like with WoW / TBC / WOTLK / etc?

D3 is free standing. It's just a "regular" rpg adventure game :D They usually come out with individual expansions for each of the games (ie. D1 has it's own xpacs, d2 does too.. etc etc)

im just curious if you can switch credit cards you pay with during this commitment of if you decide to get prepaid time cards if you can add them in and cancel the credit card.

You can definitely do the latter! Once your game time is covered for that one year duration, you can cancel your subscription. Just called and asked. :D

collectors edition of Diablo 3 = free game as well

you buy the collectors edition and sell the Artbook, USB drive, Soundtrack, Blu Ray, and the skull

i have done this process with all the collectors edition of the explanations and not only have i made my money back i spent to get the collectors edition i make an average $15.00 profit this way you get your money back u spent to buy the game making the game free pluss you get the cool little in game item perks for owning the collectors edition

It says you get 4 free months that can be used toward your 12 month subscription if you buy the collectors edition so now there is another perk you can benefit from it so that's about 60 bucks off the deal

I finally did it. I'm really nervous about it, because I'm not good with commitments, but it made sense because this is a pretty cheap hobby and I can't see myself quitting unless something happens that I can't predict.

In all my years playing WoW I have only once totally shut off my account once. I figured even if I take a break from wow like I'm prone to do I'll just keep the account running and check out patches/expansions...as that's what I do anyhow lol.

It's looking like the Expansion is going to be based around the pet battle system..I'm still not sure what to think of that.
The new cap for professions is 600 and we are currently not planning to add a new profession. We are hoping that pet battles will offer a fun, new type of activity for players to do that offers an alternative to player power progression.

That quote doesn't necessarily mean what you said. Pet battles providing entertainment rather than a new profession makes sense, since building a companion army might take a lot of work for some. Doesn't mean the expansion will be centered around it.

^^

All he's saying is that instead of adding another archeology, they are adding pet battles. Which should get more play than what archeology did.

They did also say you might get XP from pet battles.
