I always thought calicos and tortoise shells were practically the same thing. >.>

Edit: I did a research, the colours are indeed as you described.

However, what is my little girl here? She is not a tortoiseshell I'm sure, but she has stripes aswell.
I suppose I would call her a calico tabby, really.:P

Well the Wiki page says they are same well "tortoiseshell-and-white" and "Calico" are. Just different names for the same thing. Like bum and arse

Calicos.
Calico cats are domestic cats with a spotted or parti-colored coat, usually predominantly white with orange and black patches. Outside of North America the pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell-and-white.

Tortoiseshells.
Tortoiseshell describes a coat coloring found mostly in female cats. Cats of this color are mottled, with patches of orange or cream and chocolate, black or blue. They are sometimes called torties. A cat with this coloring, but also with the tabby pattern, is a torbie.
"Tortoiseshell" is typically reserved for cats with brindled coats with relatively few or no white markings.

I'm not saying you are wrong, though. And I am not trying to start a discussion, so hope I don't come off wrong here. :P Just providing what small facts I was able to find, mostly to sort out my own confusion. Both quotes from wiki.

I would appreciate it if you guys didn't get into a heated discussion.

I can delete my latest post if you wish, but creating a heated discussion was really not my intent. :)

I merely took advantage of the suckiness of wikipedia, to try and sort things out.
All in all, it just depends on where in the world you are. If Cowmu wishes to call it a tortoiseshell, she may do so, because that is what is normal to her, and that is entirely okay. I however choose to go by Xakaal and Wiki's explanation, because that is what seems right to me. :)

Either way, both colors are adorable.
I have a tortoiseshell cat, too. She is the black with orange/brown/white version of it.

Max looks adorable, I want to see more pictures! He really seems quite fluffy ;)

Yea Mlio is as big as my dog now, hes a strange breed of kitty. His fur is gray, his strips and spots are blue and his eyes are golden.

He can still move it a little but it looks like there is no movement in the bottom part. He can still run really fast though!

This makes me very happy to hear! I had a cat with impaired back legs and the poor thing had a hard time walking at all.

Max has the leg problem, but it sounds like he's quite capable even without much movement! Cats are awesome like that. Who needs two back legs? xD

OOooooh derp, still glad to know he can stll run around and be a normal cat though  its so important at their age to be as normal as the naturally can for proper development -cuddles him and dangles a big hair scrunchie- my cat hates cat toys and adores hair ties, his favorite ones are the really thick and large scrunchies XD His markings are strange, almost like one parent was calico and the other was a brown tabby (or maybe past parents from one or both sides were)
