I was never really interested in corehounds until Chromaggus came around. To be honest, I didn't even tame one. Oh, I eyed the Molten Core ones… But that was the extent of it. I just didn't like how they looked. The back legs looked too funny, the tail looked silly. Not the pet for me.
Then, obviously, came Chromaggus.
I was one of the first on my realm to tame him. I know that because I got a thousand and a half whispers the day I got him, all asking where he was from. I admit I sort of gloated, sitting around in the city with him out. Bit of a show off. Still, he was gorgeous. I had to. As I was sitting around, I asked my brother what to name him- I got the reply "Ike". At first I laughed, then I frowned, then I named him Ike.
Ike is awesome.

Unfortunately, he doesn't get as much use as he should. I already have three pets contending for my most active stable slot, and I always feel like I'm ignoring them if I use any other pet. Still, he's been of great use to my guild, back when I raided. They never got a shaman or mage, so I was always the one to use Ancient Hysteria.

Throughout Wrath I desperately wanted to bond with a core hound. Unfortunately, the lava models didn't appeal to me at all. The one model I liked, Chromaggus, was not tamable at the time. As soon as it was announced that he would be tamable in Cataclysm I quickly started spamming my guild for a couple of people who would be willing to help me. My fiance of course jumped at the mention of helping me with a pet tame and so of course did my best friend in game, a fellow hunter by the name of Swiff.

We set out to Black Wing Lair and the nightmare that is the first boss. After him though it was a breeze and we quickly came across Chromagg's lair. The tame was going smoothly enough until Swiff's pet was aggroed and interrupted my tame. Unbeknownst to me, Swiff had gone afk for a bit and my shouts to call his pet off before it killed my pet went unseen. In just the nick of time he came back and put his pet on passive. After that the tame went without a hitch and Chromagg joined my side.

I named him Havoc because of all the disorder and chaos he caused in early Cata before the combat bug on him was fixed. Groups were so angry with me because we couldn't get out of combat that I had to stop using him for a long time. Since the bug has been fixed he's been a happy addition to my active stables and is my 2nd go to pet after Cackle the tallstrider

I have just recently decided to actually level up my original main hunter from 80 and have fallen in love with his core hound Starkblast (Korvan has a winter themed stable and fans of Stephen King's Dark Tower series will understand this reference).

Here he is with the creepy children of Goldshire.

I tamed Chromaggus renamed him Ladon in greek mythology he was a multiheaded dragon guarding a tree with a raid group I had put together with an old guild master and some friendly people in my realm I remember freaking out I was gonna lose him because my other raid members aggroed him but after a few shots I pulled him and tamed him haven't seen a bunch of people with him in my server I also got the kurken renamed cerberus.

Gomegaz was my first exotic when I hit 69 (72 atm), but I do intend to switch him out for Chromaggus, as he's just gorgeous :)

I knew ever since making Tsara that I would have to tame the Kurken on her. It was a core hound skin I never had before and it just seemed like it would fit. Meet Moonseed:

Moonseed's tame was easy, but it was after her tame that I started having problems. xD I was stuck for a name for a little while. At first I kept thinking she was a male because when I think of the Kurken, I usually think boy. So I browsed through my list of poisonous plants looking for a masculine sounding name that might fit... and I kept running into trouble. And for my efforts in trying to give her a masculine name, I got growled at and nudged until I realized my mistake. Oops. Once I started looking for more feminine sounding names I stumbled across Moonseed and that just clicked instantly. Although I've finally found her the perfect name, I'm still looking to see what kind of personality she'll develop.

After getting Chrominius last week, Mia finally found a suitable name for her core hound! He is no longer Bloodlust, but now Chromax! The name gives him so much more personality and I'm enjoying him so much more than I was before! <3

Also, Sarahma went out and tamed Magmagan. I felt he was a better match for her than The Beast, and I was right. <3

The second picture is funny. All that pretty and delicate flora, with a huge and flaming core hound in the middle of it all.

Hopefully we'll see some more of these appreciation threads pop up for the new MoP families. ^_^

At level 69 I decided that I had to have Chromaggus and that I couldn't wait for 5.1 to come out and just hunt down the new rare version of the purple core hound. Thankfully a couple of my friends were on--one level 90 and one level 56--we decided to have some fun and let the 56 tag-along. To keep a long story short, we trekked our way through UBRS to get attuned and then had quite the adventure through BWL to get to Chromaggus and land Nani her tame. xD

It was a long and fun process to get this lovely gal and I'm happy I did it and that my friends were so awesome in tagging along and putting up with quite a few deaths and mess ups. :) Named her Moonell as a cross between the names of the two friends who helped me.

It's been ages since I've brought out my boy Ormagoden - have they still not fixed the weird animation problems with the Chromaggus model (no running/swimming animation like the other Core Hounds, just sped-up walking animation everywhere)? I'm reluctant to get him out of stable until they do, because I hate how derpy it looks...
