From the raid bosses that I remember that were possessed, you usually fight them then at around 1% they turn friendly and are magically saved. Either way, both corruption and possession is solved by beating the crap out of the boss.

Thats what seems to be the case. Garrosh has become corrupt. Thrall is gonna be pissed when he finds out.
Wain wrote:Hmm, I try not to be overly critical of the game but I really think it would have been more interesting if it was an escalation of his aggressive and dominating personality and not yet another "leader has become corrupted by evil force" scenario. To me that seems like such a cheap and overused trope by now. :( "The Legion did it" or "An old god did it" is just such an easy way out for stories that otherwise would require some psychology to them.
World of Warcraft: Where all raid bosses are corrupted by evil so it's ok to kill them for purple loot.
^^^ *sighs* I too wish it was a little different. It is rather hackneyed at this point.

Hmm, yeah. I think corruption is kinda unneeded since Horde could just go in and beat him up because he's a jerk and nobody wants him around, and Alliance could be brought in by Thrall asking Jaina who will ask Varian who will do it just for the joy of killing an orc.

Varian isnt an orc killer anymore(aka he doesnt stoop to Garrosh's level by slaughtering for the hell of it).
Jaina is apparently going insane after the attack on Theramore.

So at best...Thrall and Varian are gonna team up cause Varian realizes "Hey Thrall actually was a good leader and I was being a douche back then. Lets set things right again!"

I think they're gone. Least in RFC. But I'm pretty sure they still exist elsewhere.

Rags and C'Thun are probably the only end game big bads who weren't corrupted, being already nasty by nature.

C'thun was sort of the source of the evil/corruption so I'm not sure if he counts!

There are actually hints that Hakkar was twisted and warped by the Old Gods as well.

Pretty much. I mean, they were fine for a while but...something new as the reason for the "evil" would be awesome.

WOW proving that to be actually evil you have to be corrupted! its never just you know.. hes a jerk so.. he kills people. Nope, has to be some old evil God corrupted him. The voices in his head made him do it....

What happened to the good old days where it was power alone that corrupted people, not some.. old.. God whispering sweet words to him?

some people may actually feel bad for killing him. I however cant wait ^.^ then I can say the epic purples made me do it.

this thread had me in stitches this afternoon! LOL

more on topic- I missed Jaina going insane. I think it's about time after all she's been through with Arthas and everything else. Wow!

Agreed about the cranky being evil b/c a god said to escalate their crankiness. I don't like Hellscream. I just don't. I'll enjoy killing him.

But seriously, WHY isn't the rest of the horde just hauling off and dealing with him? Respect for Thrall's decision? When I played the entry zones for Troll and Forsaken, I was like "Someone needs to kick some butt!" after how he addressed their leaders. THEN the poisoning of such a beloved Tauren leader! OMGAW! SOMEONE needs to die! *points at Hellscream*

I hate Garrosh so much. Since the death of Cairne I want to slaughter him, I don't care if the weapon was poisoned by Magatha, he's an a**hole, a jerk, unpleasant when you talk with him and most important ugly as hell. Can't wait to kill him *__*

You know I love Garrosh his chin is epic<3 Much rather kill Varian I don't care if he's changed he's still a racest douche in my eyes.

You know that Jaina going insane means we will have to kill her down the line. D: In WoW you can't leave insane people alive! I mean you can't put her in prison the alliance can't even look after theres  They need to fire their prison warden.

Not every baddy was corrupted by an old god. Malygos wasnt. Arthas technically wasnt(not by an old god. He was corrupted by Ner'zul who wasnt an old god if I recall).

No Ner'zhul was a orc. But they still are corrupted XD It's kinda old hat  Can't we have a big bad whos not insane or made to do it by something else. Just like a guy who does evil for the sake of it. Supervillanish I guess.

Well, the idea of corruption seems central to WoW. We've had the Twilight cult since the beginning, and likely will until the very end.
