Extract the zip file to .../world of warcraft/interface/addons
When you log-in, look at your lower left hand corner. There should be a button with Addons written on it, click that, then enable Petemote. Look at the top, put a check on "enable out of date addons".
Pet Emote should run when you log on.

@Kalliope: sorry, I don't think there is one.

To extract a file, right click on it and choose "extract all." Then make the destination folder program files>world of warcratf> interface> addons. (or something like that.) To make addons easy, I have a folder on my desktop so I can find it easily to extract things.

Oooooh so that's what this is! For the longest time I've seen in the AH or in city "so&so's pet scratches himself and looks up adoringly at so&so" it was always a little weird - especially if it's skoll or someone's northrend wolf just sitting there. It seemed kind of sad, I wondered why the person didn't get one of the other wolves that actually do howl and scratch themselves instead of spamming actions ^_^; anyway this is a really cute add on. I'm glad to know what this is now.

Not unless you want to. If you're trying it with a Warp Stalker, I would'nt bother. Some of the more "odd" families don't have emotes. Test it with a Wolf or a Cat or something. Those things have emotes all the time.

Yeah some of them are pretty selective. I don't get anything when I use most of my exotic pets, sadly
But it works fantastic with cats, wolves, hyenas, carrion birds, serpents, etc...most of the older families, actually.

I have made some custom emotes for wolves, cats, ravagers that are RP friendly but my warlock minions' (up to succubus) emotes definitely aren't RP friendly. My succubus regularly "opens her laptop and continues her doctorate thesis".

My custom emotes are an extension of how I perceive the World of Warcraft universe.
There's a link in the forum's full editor that allows people to attach files. Do you think I can attach my custom emote files there?

Cute story...
I had just gotten the addon and was in Dalaran hanging with a few friends. It's kind of a sick, twisted custom that my friend and I /pick and /fart at each other whenever we log for the night. (what?! it's perfectly normal!

)
Amyway,I had my friend Verrae targeted just as she sent a /fart my way...Sianna,my cat, responded with..
"Sianna hears a sound near Verrae and investigates"....or something like that...lol!
We laughed for a solid 5 minutes...

....I wish I had a screenshot,damn....
Kitairra
P.S. Love this addon,btw...thank you for putting me on to it Verphiel!

Wow. I feel un-huntery. I have no desire for the cutesy pet emotes I've seen go off while in Dal or SW. Maybe it's just their emotes...I think the only way I'd do it is if it were all custom ones. I'd have the hungry devilsaur eye our gnome warrior....
What I DO wish is that there was some way to make my pet do a sound when I wanted, ie, the devilsaur RAWR! Becomes sometimes somebody deserves the roar-in-the-face.

If that's un-huntery, then I'm no hunter either. I was mostly looking to pick up this addon so I could see other people's pet emotes properly. The default stuff doesn't do anything for me either for my own pets.

It is possible to edit the default emotes, if you know a little coding. The site has a 'how to' section when you download petemote, it'll tell you what to do. You can change your emotes to do what you want them to do
And I agree with you on the sounds/idles, sometimes I wish I could control those too. Or make my pet dance.

I just wish the addon would make my wolf grab a bone from a random, nearby forsaken. That would be so awesome...
