I like BM, but for pvp I usually go with marks and that's pretty much only for silence shot.

One point I've seen made over and over again by people who actually know their stuff is that we spend so much time stressing about things that make a fraction of a percent difference in our DPS and so little time worrying about what can double it -- skill and experience and feeling at home with one's character and their abilities and what they can do.

Consistently missing a cooldown by half a second makes more difference to your DPS than whether you play one spec or another. It makes more difference than forgetting to gem and enchant, frequently.

I used to run marks always, but now... BM for life.

Will go surv or marks for guilds if asked, but usually stick to BM

Cannot agree with this post enough.

I always hear a far better raiding hunter than me echoing in my head when I think about how big a deal engagement time is. Tight rotations, good positioning (so you don't often have to move, though that might be different with fox in the picture - and changing fight mechanics), and engaging promptly - all things to be aware of. Another large factor is putting together a solid gearset for your character. I was always in awe of his min-maxing ability to make the gear he had work. He wasn't planning around gear he didn't have; he was so practical. Pity he ended up quitting WoW prior to Cata, but he's practical about RL too.

Lol, well mine is an old old nick I've used for nearly forever. Bastardized latin Mort = death, vent = wind

Old pen and paper character that got used for a lot of characters in games and such. Though rarely use it as a character name anymore.

Pretty sure most of the hunters here are, and will continue to be, hardcore BM fans.

Myself included!

A majority of my hunters are spec'd in BM. It has always been my preferred choice for the class.

Only two of my hunters have a dual-spec option. My preferences in that case usually sway to having BM as a primary spec with MM as a secondary spec. I only use MM if I am running dungeons/raiding and even then, it's very rare. 99.9% of the time you see me playing any of my hunters, it's in BM mode.

I take great joy in owning other hunters with their 'superior' specs. I still use SV in some fights, not gonna lie.

It depends on which hunter im on tbh :D

TÄrnfalk uses survival for raids and bm for soloing

Kahlua only uses bm eventhough she has survival for offspec

And Norrathia . well atm she is only using bm :D

I find that bm is the easiest spec and rotation so i tend to use it whem im lazy.. but the dps is just as good as survival :D

I have had a few griefs on Norrathia and Kahlua for being bm but once they saw the dps output the griefing stopped

I'll be completely honest when I say I switched because I was tired of people snickering and outright insulting me for being BM when entering dungeons. I know I shouldn't have let it bother me but, It did..

I have it as my offspec, though, and I do use it from time to time. It's still my favourite spec.. I just don't use it for raiding or dungeons.

I have always been BM. I liked marks a lot in that pre-wotlk patch at the end of TBC, and then they managed to wreck the things I liked by the time WoTLK came out. The spec just felt too slow. I haven't given survival a fair shot, and intend to one day do so, but I love BM. I never liked the idea of not being able to use the pets I wanted in every spec, so if I stay BM I can always use whatever pet I want. :) I was harassed a little bit in WoTLK for it, but not much. I used Skoll a lot in dungeons and PuG raids and it seemed to trick the general population into thinking I was a "properly specced" hunter with a wolf pet, just like everyone else. In Cata I have received zero flak for being BM. I do well enough in LFD and LFR. I didn't put a ton of effort into my gear and usually wore pvp stuff, but nobody seemed to care. They tend to pick on the people who are towards the end of the DPS charts.

Aside from generally liking the rotation of the spec and what buttons I push, I always liked the idea that my pet was so much of my DPS. It makes me value him/her more, rather than just viewing my pet as a minor buff to my damage. And after playing healers for soooo long, I really enjoy being able to stay in a single spec to do whatever I please - dungeons, raids, pvp, soloing old content, gathering a billion mobs and destroying them :) On my last two hunters, I only swapped specs twice - once to tame Karkin and once to tame Skarr :P

This is so strange to me. I've never had a single person in 5mans or raf insult the spec. Not been given shit for it once. :(

Try using it again! :)

at 70 i always got grief for being bm in heroics- then recount would show i wold have done 50% of the dps and the other hunters started asking me what bm pets they should use. same thing for raids, i was pulling dps you usualy saw on an 80. I still get some guff for it now and then but even now at 84 in greens and some old bc gear am still out dps'ing everyone. I used to play as surv untill cata hit and now i have come to love the bm spec. Dont know about 85 raiding just yet but i agree with morven. I do more dps "knowing" my spec and feeling comfortable in it. I will get a surv offspec for 85 but I do best im BM, it just clicks for me and I always recomend using the spec you play best over what others tell you works best. If you dont work well with the spec then whats the point of having it?

Shiny pets? :) I'm definitely a better marks hunter than a BM one, but I like seeing my exotics every now and then. T_T

(Which is why my offspec has been BM for months.)

My main spec is BM but at the moment I'm enjoying MM.

I know this is LFR but the screenshots I have from our 10 man raids are out of date and old as I can do way more dps now than before.

Is why I stick to BM. :)
