Well, goats are a brand new family. I think the fact that they're going to be tameable opens up a lot of doors for future ungulates, so I'm staying optimistic. We may only start with goats, but who knows...perhaps they'll start adding more of the hooved beasts later. They've essentially broken down a barrier by introducing goats, and I'm looking forward to the possibility of more.

Yes, I hope so. Maybe the restriction is so they can keep giving us new things to tame without making new hunter pet models every expansion.
Speaking of goats, has anyone else noticed their goat got bigger with the last patch? Mine did! Just enough to notice. I wonder if that was intentional or not.
So much wonderings!!

Or Stags in the very least....

I think ima miss the little tail wag as it runs but the shoulders are smoother now and theres hardly any difference in terms of head position in the run, like, there is obviously a difference, but its not drastic. Thusfar i approve!

That new running animation is SO much nicer; no more swayback! Do they have the horse walk, too?
*crosses fingers for talbuks to get this skeleton*

I bet the hooves still look fubar from behind while running though.

I really hope they raise the tail again, it looks very odd without it. Looks like it's charging instead of, well, running and leaping like a stag.

I personally think it's just a design decision - meaning they don't want people to tame horses, because they think they don't fit as a hunter pet.
Though I think rams at least will be tameable as goats - currently the goat family is using a ram icon.

If they give us Talbuks at least, I'll be a very happy camper. I've always liked how they looked, especially the blueish-white skin that the Elite Talbuk in Nagrand whose name escapes me has.
Talbuks and Mantid Tanks, and I will never beg Blizzard for anything else again.
...until the next cool thing appears XD

Talbuks and stags would be very nice pets imo and fit into the "goat" family.. could always call it antler family instead.. and include gazelles, and the giraff/the longneck gazers from sholari basing

Except Stags are the only animal on there with antlers. The rest are horns.

I'm going to have to disagree with giraffes. Their attacking with hooves just looks so...so ODD with the way it throws the head back. I admit I'd like a Zhevra, though. I went to the Barrens as a wee newbie on my way to get the Rake (very first rare tame!), saw one, and promptly pouted at its untamability.

I see Talbuks as space goat/antilope hybrids

So I could see those being in the goat family. Stags? No not really unless a goat's getting married.

Is there an option to see the stags running from behind with the new skeleton in the WMV thing? I'd like to see if they still have fubar hind hooves.

Eh, I was just commenting more on the fact that it'd be hard to call a family such as what Tarn suggested an "antler" family, as all the animals listed have horns aside from the stags.

They all have cloven hoofs though.

I find it easiest to just refer to them as ungulates, hooved mammals.

Yupp, though that would likely require horses be added, if that pet family were to exist...
... And centaurs...

Goats, deer, talbuks, giraffe, antelope, and shoveltusks all have split or cloven hooves so the family group would probably be Artiodactyla. Funny fact about the Artiodactyla order, the DNA of whales shows that they and Artiodactyla share a common ancestor.

I don't think they'd go with a name like Artiodactyla

Most likely it would be hoofed or something. Something a bit easyer to say most likely.
