My husband plays Aeion, and I hear his (very legitimate) complaints about how NCSoft treats their customers now that the game has gone FtoP.
This even has me questioning my interest in GuildWars 2 now... knowing that it is run by the same people as Aeion.
Aion is an older game however as you have to remember and many of their players have moved on. I can assure you GW2 is a very well kept game. I for one have always found that NCSoft has been very polite and has always fixed me with whatever problems I may have. Which is more than I can say for some WoW GM's who basically gave me the big ole screw you.

I have to say I have had the opposite of that. I have never had a bad Wow GM and always have had bad NCSoft. XD

It'll allow me to at least play through the single-player campaigns at my leisure, i never cared about trying to run raids anyways.

amusing Aion story:
they decided to add "fast track" servers. the idea: a parallel server where you can level with twice the experience of a regular server. Not meant as a regular play server, but as a means of leveling faster.
yes, so that would mean 200% exp from kills...
last game update: regular servers see ALL experience cut by half. yes, all mobs now give 50% exp.
the fast track server? gives 130% of the NEW regular experience amount...
it would seem someone at NCSoft doesn't know their basic math.

SWTOR did say paying customers will get items that will level faster. Wonder how that will go

I recently had some trouble with my Aion account (it may have been hacked, or I just completely forgot all my login information). They handled it very well and very quickly, I was impressed.
The past few tickets that a GM responded to in WoW didn't help me AT ALL. I don't even think they read my tickets. Their answers didn't pertain to my questions whatsoever. Oh well. I was getting tired of the game anyway so it wasn't that big a deal.
I don't think I will continue my sub for SWTOR. The stuff that they offer to subscription customers sounds nice, but I'm not into PvP or end-game or any of that. And once I reach level 50 with a character, I move on and create a new alt, so I don't even care about additional quests for level 50 characters. I'm sure the extra goodies will be nice for many people, but it's just not for me (or at least until I know more).

I have a question for you Rhy (if you don't mind), did this news dissapoint you when you heard it? Or were you excited and thinking "oh fun i can level new alts for free now"
I'm curious to what the in-game community is thinking about this.

Nothing like replying a week late, eh?

The news didn't really disappoint me, to be honest. With so many MMOs going free to play (even if only to level x), I expected it to happen. I'm happy that I can do what I want to do (quest) without having to pay for it. I don't care about end-game stuff or PvP or any of that, so if I can do what I like for free, then yay!
Between SW:TOR going free to play, and the fact that we're going to cancel our WoW subs, we'll be saving $60 a month. That's a pretty decent chunk of change.
So, nope - not disappointed at all!

Tahlian wrote:The male Imperial Agent is voiced by Olivier Award-winning actor Bertie Carvel...and yes, my IA is my favorite SWTOR toon as well, largely because of that voice.

Darn you, Tahlian! I was all in love with my agent and his voice until I looked up the voice actor. Now when I hear his voice, I see that dude's face instead of my agent's young and hot face.
Hopefully I'll forget about it soon and I can go back to being all in love with Vande again. Maybe it's weird, but I know a lot of guys play female characters because of the so-called "eye candy"; I decided to play a male agent because of the "ear candy".
What's odd is that I know who Jennifer Hale and Grey Delisle are, but that doesn't ruin anything for me. But with male characters whose voices I love (such as Garrus in Mass Effect), it's like I'm afraid to see what they look like IRL because it might ruin the character for me if they're hideous. It's like I'll picture the real person instead of the character. Isn't that awful?! : / I guess I just get into my characters and other NPCs waaaay too much.
Oh well, at the end of the day, I still love the voice regardless of who it belongs to. I just want my brain to stop flashing to the voice actor's face. I lose some of the immersion.
Edit: I realized today that this post might come across the wrong way. I'm really just giving you a hard time.
