I feel like Mushan can be thrown in Devilsaurs, maybe, and rename the family to something more suiting? I'd fold in raptors and just call it Dinosaur, but then we have the whole Exotic issue to work out. Alternatively, Mushan can be thrown in with raptors and they can be called the Dinosaur family. That might be a neater fix.

That said, I can't say I'd fight too hard for either. If both of them get in, that's spectacular. If neither of 'em get in, that's alright for me too. Guess none of the pets this expansion have really said, "LEVEL YOUR HUNTER SO YOU CAN TAME THESE". My poor hunter is still sitting at 82.

I felt a cold sense of dread as soon as I read the title. This is terrible :(

I want a Mushan! We can't just give up; no matter how hopeless it is, we have to fight. If they make up some argument that the pets "aren't fitting for hunters," I'll point at silkworms.

I will not give up!!

I also want to say, thank you Noah for giving a response! I will also hold out hope that something may change. :)

(I assume it was Noah at least)

I'll miss Yak's I was planning on replacing my rhino for one. I did think we were getting too many cool options to chose from though. It would've made picking a team really hard.

D: It's a shame these weren't meant to be tameable, I really don't know if I'll tame a goat-family member now. I'd really like to see rams put into that family, them especially not being in is really surprising, and kind of frustrating knowing that one in particular is called "Billy Goat" *sigh*.

By chance, do you have word on whether or not Ravens were intended? I won't be taming one, but I know many people are happy they're tameable at the moment.

And have they fixed the new Orange WaterStrider? He's currently tameable and useable by all specs, rather than just BM

I was hoping Yaks would stay in the goat family. To me, it just seems silly that they would only allow goats to be tameable when we have other bovids in game that could be added into the family like the rams, yaks, and talbuks. Especially since currently the only goats in game are in the new zones. If they just want to keep the family as goats, add some goats in lower level rocky areas like Stonetalon Mountains, Redridge Mountains, Dun Morogh, Loch Modan, Badlands, etc. Goats, imo, aren't "special" enough to be a high level only beast.

Im not sure about Mushan, I figured they fit the croc ok but for the Yaks why not keep it in the goat family but rename it Bovidae? That is pretty much hoofed and horned animals, that way if they wanted to they could add more like Talbuks, Antelopes, Rams etc. Still have the same skills and what not but it could branch more diverse :)

The yaks are way to cute to not be! Why does this feel like deja vu  Maybe the mushan could go with the basilisks *shrugs*

I'm really disappointed if we end up not getting mushan beasts as pets. Although I must admit that because of the similarity to kodos in their appearance I wasn't holding my breath.

The thunder lizards have been a pet wish of mine for some time and once we got the first images of mushan I instantly fell in love with the model since it's somewhat similar but even nicer in my opinion. Big stompy lizard beasties! From what I've seen in screen shots the model seems just fine next to the player. Similar feel as core hounds or rhinos body type wise.

I'd post in the support thread but I don't think I can since it's US and I'm EU. :|

Role play wise... I'd rather expect a hunter to tame yaks or mushan instead of silk worms. "I need a fierce, sturdy and reliant companion to aid me in battle... A-ha! A silk worm!"

I will be crushed if we don't get the yaks. The mushan are cool, but I never expected them. The yaks however I saw as the "rhino" of MoP and we were allowed rhinos so I don't see why yaks are any worse. Honestly, both fit far more than the silkworms with their low-res upscale textures.

I know for a fact that ravens were deliberate. And will probably be carrion birds soon. They just fit that family a bit more than they do birds of prey. They're more the squabble-over-remains type than the hover-and-swoop type.

Thanks for remaining level-headed about this, guys :) And yes, it was Noah who told us. I wanted to post sooner rather than later. I figure the longer it's delayed, the more people will get used to, and attached to, pets they're not going to be able to tame on live. I'm sad too, but the new stuff we're getting is pretty awesome. And it was good they had the humour to allow porcupines and silkworms when they were tameable by accident (and porcupines are surprisingly brilliant pets). And we haven't even seen any new rares or spirit beasts yet. I'm sure they're to come :)

Honestly, I think I'd rather have Yaks than SB's or Rares, they don't require camping!

It makes me wonder though, with making the mistake once this Beta already, you'd think that the team would make an effort to not do it again, ESPECIALLY with such highly sought after beasts...

I wouldn't mind so much if we get that yak god as a spirit beast. Goats are quite cool, but the yaks are a lot better and to be honest, more fitting. No other new pet apart from goats has any interest for me at all (apart from maybe the metal/stone quilen skins). It's all just more insects, more cats, more birds, yada yada. Hoofed animals and other similar creatures are very rare pets (rhinos, goats, nothing else?), and they're my favorite type of animal. We have wasps (a couple of different models), silithids (lots of models), worms (two models), and scorpions to cover insects and insect-like pets (and now water striders), a billion cats, and at least four or five bird/tallstrider models split between a bunch of families already. There are even more reptiles (raptors, crocolisks, devilsaurs) than hoofed animals. The new cranes/tigers etc are nice models but they are, when it comes down to it, basically higher-poly versions of pets we already have. Yaks are something totally new.

Rhinos aren't actually hoofed, in game or IRL.

I know, but they sort of fit the same "archetype" as yaks (I said "and other similar creatures"). I generally prefer the antelope archetype, but the yaks are so cool (and one of my favorite IRL animals). I knew I wanted one from the moment they revealed the model in a tiny screenshot at Blizzcon.

They just have really big toenails, like this little cutie:

In my view Yaks make perfect sense in the goat family. Im not sure if I like the goats really.. but I adore the yaks. They are cute :)

I have to agree. I think a name change might've been necessary, but they definitely do look better as pets than goats (IMO).

This is making me laugh and want to cry at the same time! It's kind of ridiculous that Cadmus's butt would be giving the sad eyes, and yet....that's actually kind of the feeling I was getting, even before Kurasu's addition. x_x Yaks have incredibly cute butts; I haven't had this kind of joy watching a pet run by my side since Ursa was a baby. There's just something happy about watching them move. I can't explain it and it sounds incredibly weird when I try, but there you go. Yaks have the cutest little hopping walk and watching their tails is fun!

*sighs quietly and hopes for the unlikely - a second reprieve* I know that we're fighting an uphill battle, especially because porcupines and silkworms already got a pass, but we have to try. Please support on the US forums! And someone could get a thread started on the EU forums as well. Let Blizzard know that this was a happy accident!
