"Pandaria" is actually ancient Mogu for "Land of the Eternal Grind"
Like the others, I do wonder how much gold we'll be making. Certainly there's a LOT of different factions to grind out and so we should be making gold from that for a long time after our regular questing has finished. So maybe it won't be all that hard, but it's pretty obvious the emphasis they've placed on MoP is long-term goals. They want people involved in the routines of the game for a very long time, so the mount could still be a long grind.
Otherwise, I want the mount NPCs to do the dailies for me, so they can pay for themselves.

Even if they made gold boa I could never get that one. I think this kind of thign will lead to an increase in gold sellers and account theft, but I'm not too upset about losing the chance at the mount itself. I can get a normal yak so it's cool with me.

Great. Considering I have only 31k (I know that's a lot compared to many others, though) on my main, and I'm trying to save up for a Wooly White Rhino mount to purchase on the Auction House, which goes for 200k... I don't think I'll be getting the yak any time soon.

I've been doing he same thing for the same mount! Lol, want that rhino so bad.
Between all my characters I have about 65k which I figured would cover the Yak, but now I'm discouraged to see ill need twice that.

If that's all you have to your name in game, the yak really isn't for you. There are less expensive mounts (and a lot of them!) to spend your gold on.
Frankly, having bought one on beta, I don't see what the big deal is, you can't even see your toon sitting on it when using it to go somewhere.
That said... (this goes to no one in particular, but as a general statement...)
With a little bit of work now, you could make 100k the first week of Panda. All you need to do is gather (herbs, skins, or ore), and sell it to the folks powerleveling professions. Fish will sell well too. You could make more doing other things, but gathering is simple enough.
If you don't want to put in the effort, please don't complain about prices on vanity items.

I'm heading this off now. I don't see much real complaining here. More just disappointment that they may not be able to afford it, and a lot of resignation to that fact. The thread conversation has actually been handled in a fairly good way. Let's keep it cordial

I am dissapointed that the price went up, The 60K was already a stretch for me. I am not a grinder or farmer, and I dont have time...Heck I dont even have a travelers mammoth
I am hoping though to boost up my little puddle of gold on skins from people questing in the lv 85+ starter area, And hopefully end up with enough to cover a bit of what MoP costs will be.
Ah well...

I figure this will be an extremely long term goal for me. Heck, I only just got the tundra mammoth within the past week or so. I could have gotten it before, but there's always been other stuff to buy. Sandstone Drake....another issue entirely.
I giggled at Wain's Land of the Eternal Grind.....though I really hope that's not all Pandaria feels like. That's the sort of thing that burned me out on WoW in the first place.

Considering how things always are at the beginning of an expansion, farming for mats will make you explode with money. Blizz also said that gold will be more plentiful in Mists.
Be glad buying the mount is only a one-time thing

Me rambling: Thats exactly how i feel. Hell, i got so burned out from leveling so quickly on my shaman i took a couple weeks of downtime to play skyrim. Was great cause the content was ever changing and there was so much i had never seen but now im at a point where its pretty much grinding skills to create and enchant armor... theres hardly any content im finding in the world to keep my interest, so now im back to WoW.
Actual talk about the mount lol: I too burn out easily from grinding too long with little reward along the way, irregardless of how grand the final prize is. Honestly, if they were to increase its price from its original 60k, i would of liked to see it around 80k opposed to a complete double up. Since it was pointed out that it could be a long-term commitment thing blizz was intending, it does make more sense, but it feels blown way out of proportion imo.

Consider that the materials to make the JC mounts sell to vendor for 25k. Each one takes five. Even if the vendor price is only half of the actual price, that's 250k for just one. It takes all four to make the 'ultimate' one. Note that's a price that I haven't seen them show any sign whatsoever of lowering.
With that in mind, 120k for the yak is cheap.

Well, with those numbers in mind, no wonder Blizz yanked the daily cap.

Actually, I don't read that as '120k for the yak is cheap'. I read that as '250k for the JC mounts is *expensive*'.
I really do worry that Blizzard is biting themselves on the butt with this one. Gold being more plentiful is one thing, but this is starting to get a little... over-ridiculous. Fingers crossed I'm wrong!

Maybe NPCs will throw money at us as we level and such too.

Ah well...
Just spend one evening sitting in that starting zone..
Remember, with AOE looting, people are more likely to loot their kills, leaving more for you to skin.
Back in Wrath, I filled my bags with skins 3 times over in a bit over two hours on those bat-things right outside the alliance base. We should have similar spots to camp for those in Panda.

How do you make your money currently in Cata? People in my guild say they farm Troggs in Deepholm for embersilk, but that seems like it isn't the most efficient way.

for that price it better:
1. Fart bombs and rainbows.
2. Have a shark with a lazergun attached somewhere.
3. Be able to one shot things that doesnt move out if its path.
4. Farm that gold back to me.
5. Play music of my choise when mounted.
6. Include a damn table for me to flipp.
7. Include buff food for me and about 1000 minipet treats and Kiblers bits.
8. Two minipets that would live on it. Aka a better tickbird and a fly.
9. Make me able to enter raids while not in a raid group(cause why not).
10. Give me the title of: The "Once rich, now broke" or "Big gold sink".

As a person with awful small amounts of playing time (in comparison to other players, generally), and never having more than 6k on a toon at a time, this will be interesting to achieve for me, but I may make it my goal, pending on how much quest gold there is given out (quest gold including vendoring quest rewards that don't benefit me).

The way things are now I can honestly say I'll never get the yak. I can't grind and work to save up that much and still have fun playing the game. Maybe I'll feel differently once I get done wasting my Alch. cool downs on the mats for the sandstone drake and can start selling things like volatiles and truegold, but right now, nope ain't happening.
As to making gold I'd love some tips too, lol. My Shaman alchemist makes some money from selling flasks of treasure finding, or whatever it is called, but it takes work gathering all the herbs for it, which gets boring if that is all I am doing. I am leveling a Mage at the moment with herb/inscription and she is making a nice chunk of change just taking the herbs, milling them into ink and making glyphs. My biggest goal is to have, between my best freind (who is the other main person in my guild with me and a coworker) and myself, to get all the professions maxed out before MoP in our bank guild of three people. We have everything in progress or done except for tailor/enchant, which is what I am going to make my shadow priest when I get back on her. Hopefully having all of the professions unlocked between the pair of us will help us earn some gold towards these new mounts-once I make my sandstone drake I need to make one for her though. At least they will be account wide!
