Hmm...you know how rares tend to stand out from their surroundings? Maybe we should keep an eye out for oddities in the terrain...traces could mean tracking, but it could also be something more tangible! Kind of a long shot though, as that would be harder to keep hunter-specific I think.

I keep getting excited because everytime I drop a flare something spawns next to me. Just keeps turning out to be my pet which is taking forever to load on my screen when I dismount -_-
Them being rare and really hard to find is like gah. Someone could be in the right spot at any moment, but they wouldnt know because the rare isnt up :(

Thought I found something, but now pretty sure it was a glitch.
It was a cat shadow, in the sitting position on a stone wall, that vanished after a second.
I searched my computer for the screesshot, but it doesn't look like it took (that or it's lost as my comp decided to make 4 screenshot folders and place things in randomly)

Edit: I'm editing this as not to freak too many people out.

It's certainly an exciting idea. And with the reorganized pet buffs, I'll have a few empty spots to fill.

I may have to download the beta again. I lagged so bad when I finally connected that I gave up.

If hunter skills detect traces... then we have to look at spells that are unique to hunters. One thing that really comes to my mind is flare... track beasts... Do you think it will pick up beasts that other people can't detect? This is very intriquing... but exciting!

Now I finally have a reason to level my beta hunter from 88-90!

I would think that we'll detect it with either track beasts or track hidden. Or maybe they disguise themselves as regular mobs until tamed, so bestial lore would work.

I just love the extra time they spend to make us hunters happy!

Let's hope one of the hidden rares is a tameable hydra!

Not exactly. Druid Glyph of the Predator can allow them to track beasts as well.

If we can't see them yet we can detect traces, it is also possible that rare spawns are underground or in the sky? Tracking is unlimited by height, so we can see everything vertically. The question then is how would we get them to ground level if they are not already?

Yes, my druid has the glyph and can track beasts too. And shamans have farsight which is eagle eye. So flare is quite unique as is track hidden. I think track hidden might be a key. I have no idea what to look out for. And where. We need Professor Layton!

Maybe it's something like beasts disguised as other mobs that show their true form when being tamed? You know, like a mountain hermit that turns out to really be a tiger in disguise or a critter that is actually a beast.

awesome! I havent really been leveling so.. I wonder if itll still work for me but ill try lol. Its kinda hard to scout out things when ou move a few feet dc, move more dc again

Hmm maybe we can all work together, instead of people all mindlessly running around we could maybe assign places for people to search? That way itll seem less like trying to find a needle in a haystack

Without some sort of lead, this is going to be just pure luck, as was mentioned.

Theres plenty of places that look unique, does a rare champion spawn there? Is this a quest area that I havent done yet? Is it a location of a rare beast that hasnt spawned? Is it nothing at all?

I had to quit, I was driving myself crazy.

I have some hunches, looking for footprints, shadows, waves on the water. I am throwing down flares, walking around in camo.

Need more input!

Gosh, I was doing that too. :/ There are just so many possibilities! I found an object in the world that I could mouseover and see the name of, but it turned out to be a quest object.

This is fun and intensely frustrating.

Ive even thought that maybe i have to be dead and in the spirit world to see a spirit beast.

Edit: Turns out this has some possible merit. In the Cradle of Chi-Ji, there are 3 pavillions. For me, they are empty. As a dead spirit running to my corpse, I see Chi-Ji in this pavillions, and he offers to port me to the top of the them. Nothing up there at this time.

Is this part of some quest? Has this been in the game earlier or is it new? Is this a phasing bug and since I havent done any quests, I am actually bugging into a phase I shouldnt? Am I overthinking? Am I on to something?

lol

In this same area as Quivering, I saw a spot of mist on the ground on my druid, and went there on my hunter to try a few things out. Flare, tracking... nada.
