Even though the slots are unlocked, it seems that you can still not have more than 20 pets between the stable and the active list.

I can see all my stable slots now, and got back the pets that had been missing all this time.

Yes and not only that the ones I tamed that "disappeared" returned to the stables when I logged after opening slots for them.

Stables on beta fixed, first 5 slots no longer locked
