The debate over whether they're a replacement or addition is why I'm asking for someone to check the Alliance/Horde mount vendors on PTR, once this build goes in.

I'd do it myself, but my internet can't download the PTR.

Personally I hope they start replacing models with these instead of just adding them in. Some things look so old and out of place now! And those wyverns... hng. <3

I'm assuming if they were ready to replace all the old models they would have the other skin colours available. The addition of horns also seems like a nod towards a new style of mount since wyverns have never had horns before. Not to say they can't change their mind on that, but it seems that these particular datamined models are only going to be new mounts. I would very much like to see them take this new model though and apply it to the older ones in the future, perhaps removing the horns to keep them more in line with the originals.

I'll check when the new build is downloadable, just typical the PTR has gone down sans build at the only time I can download anything.

I don't think they'll start replacing old mount models. They've never done so in the past (countless drake models, RBG wolves, etc) don't think they're gonna start...same with tameables. Only things they fully updated and replaced thus far were druid forms way back when and the fire giants during Raggy's last stand if I remember correctly.

This is true. We shall have to see then! Either way...the new models look fantastic!

Yeah you druids got some neat forms now XD. Point still stands tho....they've only replaced druid forms and the fire giants so far. Too many players may start raging if they start messing with mounts all of a sudden. Particularly many players may feel sentimental value for THESE particular mounts as they are the first flyers many players ever recieved.

Well we can always set the Sha of Happiness on them. I'll be one not mourning any loss but can use my art book for a neat progress point of view Just find it ironic I mentioned on twitter what I'd do with a manticore design then boom, Wyvern revamp. I'd totally steal the tail if made a bit less glued on looking.

BUt im just going to say it here: I really do like the old models as well
The old wyverns had these really neat looking cheetah spots that I honestly really liked. I liked how fluffy the gryphons seems, also the faces they made were if anything quite funny.

Now that thats done
I really love the new wyverns, they suit WoW much more. The gryphons....I like their new models but their eyes look too soulless

Now on the subject of updating old models
Iv'e been waiting for a moonkin update for a looonnngggg time. Im not too fond of stretchy feet

Oh thank god I'm not the only one! Thats why I use Glyph of Stars, I've had Moonkin since it was added god was it 1.8? and I just cannot stand the squash stretch animation running anymore. I feel so dated.

I can't say I like these that much...the gryphon is quite ugly and the wings are strange. I vastly prefer my old version, despite this one being so much more fluid and realistic in design.

The wyvern would have been awesome, but...those horns? Really...why? But I do love their wings.

That suggests to me that they are adding two new mounts that are updates on the old model, and not that they're changing the old mounts as well.

I'm especially glad of the wyvern. It looks really nice. I like the gryphon too, but the current gryphon isn't too bad as it is. The current wyvern, however, seems to be very low in polygons, very blocky. And the horns are pretty cool.

That's what I got from it, That they where just new mounts.

Then I misinterpreted. I wish they would update the old ones. I might use them more.

So maybe they won't update the old mount models with these. (Though I don't know what the non-armoured versions would be used for...) But even so, we get some really cool looking new ones!

I've had a closer look though and... well, that gryphon. The... wings... just... no. I hope they're not finished - way too big and WAY too stiff! >.<
