To be fair, most of the people I know who spar about their factions are doing it in fun. Some people can take it too far, but trading friendly barbs about your faction is often a good way to start talking.

(I typed 'trading friendly bards' the first time, which made for a cute mental image of huge orc warriors pulling out their favorite EQ bards to show off and trade.)

Of course, my first questions to a fellow player is always "What class do you play?" and I'm sure I've confused some people when they say 'rogue' or 'druid' and I say, "Oh. Nevermind."

At Blizzcon I really don't remember any anomisity Horde and Alliance players. Then again everyone was gushing over news of the planned release of WOTLK and the girl dressed as a Spirit Healer.

In a room dominated mainly by men who do you think was more popular? The nearly naked girl or a guy dressed as a stone?

Uh... yeah if any of you find a video of... some random man attempting to cosplay as an orc... who looks like he's doing naughty things to the summoning stone... uh, that's totally not me. Just setting facts straight. *cough*

Sometimes when I'm bored and I feel like being silly I would logg in and the first thing I would say in Guild chat would be "for the horde". Some would laugh and some would tell me to hush.lol

*Coughs* I reckon there's about ten seconds until that plasma cannon goes off.

On subject, I didn't really find this that amusing. *Chuckles* It's fine if you're just kidding around, which I know most people are. But I've met some people who were really, really hard core horde who just hated the crap out of anyone who played the alliance.

Ever since the Horde cooking trainer and cooking daily quest giver in Dalaran was introduced, I thought he should give a quest where you need to collect Gnome meat for his masterpiece meal. All the people you deliver the completed daily to are wary of there being Gnome in the food, so it'd only be right that Awilo get to make a Gnome feast, and he needs you to get the Gnomes for it.

Haha, loved the comic. I worked at GameStop for a good long while and had some WoW pins that I popped on the cord for my name tag. Hunter, Druid, and Shaman (because that was the last one we had XD ) along with some other fun ones like one that said "WHAT'S UP MY NINJA?" that got quite a few laughs ( I also had one that said "Hi, I see the assassins have failed..." but I had to take that one down do to a lady getting upset :? ).

Where was I!?! Anywho, I was asked all the time if I really played and what faction I was apart of. Please understand that one of my closest friends was my store's assistant manager and my guild leader and one of my other coworkers/good friend was also in the guild, so we got quite a bit of flack if we got any. Folks can talk about classes all day and you'll rarely get anything more abrasive than a light jeering over what speck you like more, but the second you bring faction into it all bets are off!

Had one guy that came in one time and was really nice and talkative, then the dreaded question came, "So, Horde or Alliance?". I told him that, while I had both, my main was a Night Elf. You could just see him drop all interest in the conversation right there, "Oh, why don't you play Horde?" I told him that it was just because the people I played with were Allis and I didn't know as many people IRL that played Horde on the same server. "Well, you should come play on my server then. My guildies are all pretty cool and we have vent. We're looking to get a healer anyway, girls like to play healers, that's why you're a druid right?" The assumption peeved me off a bit but I was more than used to it. Both my ASM and coworker jumped in then though and asked him to not tempt me to heal because I was awful at it, and to not try to steal their feral druid, I was needed for DPSing and tanking. Made me feel nice until I realized the hidden insult...

*Shoots wildly*

Unh-huh, faction is pretty much the important stuff. Too many times have I met people going "zomg evil!" when I say alliance. Telling them that one of my mains is a gnome warlock doesn't help much.
