I"m pretty sure he's a different angel altogether.
Yep there were 5 of them that where of the Angiris Council.

Imperius, Archangel of Valor

Tyrael, Archangel of Justice

Auriel, Archangel of Hope

Itherael, Archangel of Fate

Malthael, Archangel of Wisdom

It's Malthael thats decided to don the guise of the protagonist. Though he could have been Dirty-Claws favourite angel, his hand scythes are pretty bitching, and Auriel is my favourite angel, followed closely by Itherael
*antagonist (protagonist is the hero :3)

Favorite angels of mine in this order - Tyrael, Imperius, Auriel, Itherael, Malthael

Malthael was wandering the shattered area of where the World Stone was in, seeking the wisdom that was lost after it's destruction(it was the 'eye' so to speak) and yeah he kinda went a bit crazy.

Yeah, sorry, I might have assumed badly that she thought Tyrael went bad :)

As for the other guy, they did name him MALthael, so it was kind of a given he'd eventually live up to his name. Cheesy foreshadowing ;)

/flips table!! GRRRR. Yes Malthael is my favorite. DAMN YOU BLIZZARD. STOP TURNING MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS INTO VILLAINS. NOT COOL. I love Malthael. Like utterly adore him. This is what they do to him. /fume.

Name or not. Like for crying out loud that's probably the same scheme they used with Malygos. HE HAS MAL IN HIS NAME LETS MAKE HIM A CRAZY VILLAIN. GOOD JOB GUYS. -_-

Malthael didn't really have much to him, last I checked so it's character development, even if it's unfortunate he went the antagonist route.

In Malygos' defense, he did lose his sanity.....I'm still sad we had to kill him but still.

It's still stupid to me to turn a character evil for lack of a villain rather than creating a new antagonist. It's so stereotypical it makes me sick. They wrote Malygos to lose his sanity much like it seems they're writing Malthael to lose his. I loved him how he was and will not be playing Diablo 3 or it's expansions after all because I refuse to kill Malthael.

Well I don't quite agree there. I don't think they did it for lack of a villain as there is rumor going around that Malthael may not be the main antagonist afterall. I can't confirm. Just a rumor I heard floating around.

Malthael likely became corrupt due to the Worldstone being destroyed and also slightly corrupted by one of the Prime Evils.

Malygos lost his entire flight to Deathwing, including his Prime Consort(Sindragosa), right before his eyes. He secluded himself for many years, even starved himself. His mentality was shattered long before he became a villain.

It's kind of Blizzard's way. Good characters become corrupted or insane and become the new big bad. I'm glad with Garrosh they just made him a flawed character and didn't go the route of "the sha did it". But it's a very common trope in Blizzard games

Yeah you're right Wain. It's a thing with Blizzard. They also have a thing about writing amazing Villains. So if a character is or becomes a villain, it was an awesome character.

I know its common which is why it annoys me. They just cant break that mold. I've already had to kill one of my favorite characters, two if you count Arthas who I fully realize was evil. I liked Fandral(no hate for that please I get it a lot)and was heartbroken when they took him and yes once again "Oh he is insane now lets make him evil". That stuff breaks my heart I agree they can write good villains but I'm tired of my favorite characters being made INTO the villains I guess is my point.

I love Malthael. I always have. I love everything about him. He's just my type of character and if he IS the main villain and if you DO have to kill him I'll be glad I made the right decision not to support Diablo 3 personally.

Hmmmm. It's... ok. They certainly upped the polly count and made a very nice new murloc model. Check out those toe nails, weapons, spines and new teeth.
Though not sure why he has no pupils. All the Crusader images I've seen they have normal eyes, looks like a little bit of a inspiration from the murkablo model I guess.

Looks like they named him Sirloc Murkalot, kinda cute. (Mmo had thier picture file named Sirloc, my bad :D )

The toenails are actually weirding me out, they just look way too human on a fishy creature. *shudder*

Anyways, it's pretty cute though, but nothing I'd be chomping at the bit to acquire. We're most likely getting a virtual ticket anyways, but I might let my boyfriend take the goodies.

Well now we have 2 Diablo Referenced Murlocs, and 1 Starcraft.

Murkalot ~ Crusader (protagonist) and Murkablo ~ Diablo (antagonist)
and a Grunty ~ Terran (protagonist)

I wonder if that would mean the next crossover would be needed if it would be a Starcraft Antagonist?

Zerloc... or Murkalisk perhaps? Or maybe even a new antagonist that may appear in the the starcraft universe.

I'm pretty meh about him. Don't have a single murloc pet and looks like it'll still be that way. Never really cared about the other goodies. Oh well.

I think he looks pretty nice too!

Though I'm surprised they didn't come up with "Hearthy the Hearthstone Murloc" since they're promoting the crap out of that game atm :)
