Being from said hellhole, I really wish I could say something other, but the bottom line is that the oil companies are running the show and they will not let go of their greed until the last drop of oil has been sucked out of mother earth. Greed is the reason why nothing changes. Sad to say, but this oil spill will not bring any wake-up calls, no massive changes, or any new safety measures. What it will bring are the same people who have common sense together to demand change but sorry to say, none will be coming.

Sorry, couldn't resist. On a serious note, call me a fool/American Idiot, but how exactly do we clean up oil from water?

I bet Westboro Baptist Church is having a field day with this one ("Sea of blood", anyone?) Yes, I went there.

I read that the spill has exceeded the Exxon spill now. And it's sprung another leak. :(

They've finally decided to try to plug the hole(s), we'll see what happens.

Hun had found an article about a reactor that fit INTO your basement. Was sort of like a nuclear one but different some how...I can't find it now >.<. I'll ask him some time about it and see if I can't post a link.

Saturo, you do realize that getting the plutonium itself would have been alot cheaper then buying an already cnstructed warhead from exKGB? Ah well c'est la vie.

All I really have to say on this is that I am Cajun. If you know what that means then you can very easily figure out my opinon on this matter.

As for alternative energy sources IMO they should put as much money as possible into biometric energy sources.

I can't believe they have not stopped the leak yet.. I don't get why they can't stop it.

That probably explains it alot better then the official one. I don't like looking at the oil spill pictures. It's very sad seeing the destruction.

This article illuminates some truly scary insights.
http://motherjones.com/blue-marble/2010 ... nstoppable

Paraphrasing some quotes here:
"All the actions and few tid bits of information all lead to one inescapable conclusion. The well pipes below the sea floor are broken and leaking

....it means they will never cap the gusher after the wellhead. They cannot...the more they try and restrict the oil gushing out the bop?...the more it will transfer to the leaks below. Just like a leaky garden hose with a nozzle on it. When you open up the nozzle?...it doesn't leak so bad, you close the nozzle? it leaks real bad, same dynamics...

There is no way to stop that leak from above, all they can do is relieve the pressure on it and the only way to do that right now is to open up the nozzle above and gush more oil into the gulf and hopefully catch it.

...It's a race now...a race to drill the relief wells and take our last chance at killing this monster before the whole weakened, wore out, blown out, leaking and failing system gives up it's last gasp in a horrific crescendo."

Then there's the cheerful comments like:
Maybe the 2012 crowd are right, end of the world, thanks to bp's oil gusher.

I think we are literally looking at the end of the world here. it will probably end up completely unstoppable and we will have sea the color of blood soon enough, with the whole food chain whacked out of control, marine life smothered in oil or killed from dead zones, co2 from microbes consuming the oil leading to a runaway global warming feedback eventually leading to all the methane hydrates being released. Earth will turn into a new uninhabitable Venus.

Sooo They drill in relief wells and try to suck up the rest of the oil from the source ?
