it was 33$ for me.. though i bought that ingame and not the site.. 30$ site and 33$ ingame..
Bought the mount, and i also got mail with this:
Item: Nightmarish Hitching Post
Bop - Use: Summons a nightmarish hitching post.
Party members may use the post to transform their mounts into a Warforged Nightmares for 20min. ( 3 Min Cooldown ) - both flying and ground mount - requires lvl 20 -
just basicly letting your friends who either dont bother getting it or 2 broke, they get a 20minute buff to play arround with tbh.
like trying a new car or something lol.. i was expecting this to be the RAF mount tbh.. was hoping the Grinning reaver was the next store one
welp.. 208 mounts and counting

I'm going to pass on this one until I get some more bag space AND it's on sale... and even then it will be a maybe. I just don't see myself remembering to find it, drop it, click it, then mount up, and continue to do so ever 20min to access a mount, no matter how cool it looks.
The post is for you to give OTHER people the mount. You get an actual mount as well.

Yes it's a flying mount as well (it's really the Swift Windsteed, reskinned).
Jelani wrote:The post is for you to give OTHER people the mount. You get an actual mount as well.
I think the number one misconception is that you're only getting a hitching post. You get both a normal mount to use, and a "toy" that gives your party or raid a temporary mount. I wasn't really sure how it worked myself until I got the hitching post in the mail.

I also agree with the sad trend that most of the "cool" or "flashy" mounts have been store mounts lately... Armored Bloodwing, Iron Chimera, Warforged Nightmare, Fey Dragon, Grinning Reaver...
I would work my ass off camping, grinding, or raiding to get those mounts in game... but because I'm sort of a subscriber to "special snowflake" mentality, I dislike the "stigma" (however nonexistant) associated with just buying cool mounts and so won't get them from the store.
It's my choice (and kept money), I know, but I would like to really get excited for an in-game mount again besides one reward from the raiding achievement (Skyscreamer, I'm lookin' at you.)

When you get the mount you also recive this boa item aswell..

Ohhh, that’s great, thanks for clearing that up for me. I did test it on the alpha, but it did not give you the hitching post, just the mount as a spell. Good to know for the future.
Good chance I'll still wait for a sale, but very glad to see it has a permanent mount attached to the purchase.

I agree with Cow - $30 isn't a big deal as in Aus we pay $33 atm for mounts anyway. I quite like the lil extra toy you get (I was such a sucker for TCG toys!) and most tcg toy cards are about $3-6 depending on what it is so $5 seems about fair. I would be interested to know the stack size however.
I will say I was dissapointed with the lack of dungeon mounts this xpac as well and hope this isn't a trend that continues in WoD.
I'll defiantly be buying one (or someone nice will gift me one!) - i think it makes the perfect mount for my fire themed warlock

Hitching post doesn't have a stack size, just a CD. Using the hitch-post puts a 20 min "buff" on the player so that any mount used while the buff is active is replaced with the Warforged Nightmare.
The mount it's self is on the kirin skeleton, uses the same /mountspecial, and can fly. In flight it has really awesome red and black streaks coming off it. After trying out the "buff" mount I can say I really think this is an awesome looking mount in game, definitely mechanical, but without the annoying engine sounds, it does do a mechanical sounding "neigh" and gear creak sounds, but they are not to loud or frequent enough to be annoying.
I'll definitely be getting this mount myself when it comes on sale (figuring around Xmas time).

Oh thats great to know! I assumed it was a consumable but if its a permanent 'toy" thats even better!!

Warforged Nightmare is the same as the Swift Windsteed - they share the same /mountspecial - they both twirl arround showing off.
but i thought that mount would be a raf mount, and we get the grinning.. ahwell few months time.. i guess.. that silithid better not be a raf mount /wrist

In the old days the store used to display prices in $US, but now you see it in Australian dollars so it looks like a price hike. I presume the 30/33 thing is before/after they added GST and one is displaying it wrongly.

Not for me it's US :S Like I just got me the Guardian Cub and the price said $10 US. Are you talking about the ingame one or the site one?
Is there a way to change it? It would make life better if it was in NZ for me

Maybe you are lucky and they changed it for you Aussies :p

I do like it. The windsteed is a hair odd for the loping run but I don't mind it as people have mentioned, it's a funky-ass robot pony and thus has already fallen wholesale into the uncanny valley already.
The downside is... at least right now (and possibly permanently since i don't think you could with the skyreaver either), you can't gift it. A good friend of mine tried to buy me one and couldn't.

its a permie pet so you dont need to worry about losing it. blizz would be in deep if they made something that would disapear the next day. they just added a hitch for friends who dont or cant be botherd buying it since its that price.

I'm not sure if/how you can change it. Are you logged into Battlenet when you view the web store? Whether or not I'm logged in, mine definitely shows prices in AUD on the web. Maybe they don't do NZD. They probably still think you're part of Australia
Er, and I just realized that the new mount IS more than all the others (which are AUD 27.50), so it's not just the exchange rate. Sorry!

Yeah I was logged in. I think you are right and they don't do NZD

Ah well least my banks website has a calculator for this kind of thing. Handy that.

That extra $5 can make or break people. the US's economy is not that great so money is a huge thing.

if 5$ is going to "make or break" someone, then they should probably not be paying $12/month to play a game.
a pack of cigarettes costs twice that.
5$ gets you two cans of soda.
you can't get into a movie for $5.
you can't even eat at - heaven forfend - McDonald's for $5.

Iron Skyreaver is giftable now - I had it gifted to me. But I've noticed with the last few mounts that the gift option seems to take a few days, even a week, to appear. So just check back on it every few days.
The other option is your friend could buy you battle.net cards but saying "Here's a balance on your account" is not nearly as fun as seeing a surprise just appear in your mailbox.

Some people are on limited budgets, and that $5 can exceed their allotted spending money. I dunno Sukurachi, $12/month for entertainment is pretty cheap, cheaper then going to see a single movie at the theater now days. Cheaper then one meal while out and about. Cheaper then a lot of things.
I happily pay $12/month for my entertainment, even if that extra $5 puts the mount outside my budget. Even poor people or people on limited budgets deserve to be able to find some joys in life without someone telling them they shouldn't...
