I used BM for Heroics because my gear is good enough that I still do a descent amount of dps. I even used BM for the first 3 boss fights in ICC. I switched back to marks for death bringer. Nobody said anything to me. Not even about my pet choice.

... wow. What an ignorant, elitist jerkwad. If you had been running in a group for my drood healer, I'd have actually complimented you for being one of the FEW hunters I've run with, that was without cat or wolf! Hell I actually congratulated one for having Loque!

Saturo remember how we spiced up the party with our variety of pets? Bringing corehounds, spirit beasts, silithids and owls...I still am joining the bandwagon of you use the pet you want to use.

Yah, good times. The tank whispered me about some of the stranger pets, did he do that for you too?

Don't remember exactly, I think he asked me about my owl but somebody flooded the party chat with a wall of text so I didn't notice.

Either way, that was a lot of fun, and I ended up with a full stable of 80 pets.

ok for my realm i got the rep of BM hunter so people wont question me after all in a pug i can pull top dps even in a guild raid and thats with a spirit beast -.-

Personally? At that I'd have gotten one of my Striders out (Being on Keae/Sendeni of course, Azzie on Mits) and said it was a wolf in disguise but seriously, what the hell?

What's funny about that to is that 2.5K is about normal as far as I've seen. Sil isn't really geared for raids, and I'm still working on collecting badges to get her all geared up for Heroics, but right now she usually puts out about 2.5-3k damage depending on buffs....and the past six or seven heroic randoms she's done, she's usually been top dps. Granted heroics are a lot easier when you get lucky and get a raid-geared player in there blasting you through mobs, but I don't see why anybody would throw a fit over 2.5K dps on a regular basis when Heroics are like the entry-level gearing up places. O_o

In raids, you'll be fully buffed, Velkyn. Those buffs are quite a difference. There's the 20% damage from ICC, Kings, Might, want me to go on?

Oh no, I'm not disputing that people will do a hella lot more damage in raids at all! I know that with a combination of raid gear, raid buffs, and the benefits from dungeons like ICC's 20%, people will be pulling out the dps like woah.

What I'm saying is, none of that really exists for a Heroic. Heroics are like entry-level, baby's-first-gearset locations. It's where you start building up enough gear to GET TO those raids and actually contribute, by way of earning a t9 set and badge-rewards for everything else. So naturally, DPS isn't going to be as high there unless you have an already raid-geared player going back and running a Heroic for whatever reason.

That said, why would you EXPECT 5k or more in a heroic?

And you shouldn't let people tell you how to play. =) If you wanna play BM with an SB, play BM with an SB! If you're the better person and switch to another spec on their request, you use whatever damn pet you want! (or none at all, as I've seen some hunters do...>.<). And if you want to use a wolf...well, someone tell that little sprog that all pets of a family are exactly the same. xD And if they don't want to take you, there are always other oppurtunities. Best part of the game, I think. =) Be proud of who you are!

(I only use MM for raids, for soloing/questing/5 mans I'm BM with Styx (my Devilsaur). I'm pretty well geared (4-set T10+a mixture of 264/251/271 items), but I still do 40-50% of the damage in Heroics. It was funny, I once came into an instance, and a paladin said 'Wow, a BM hunter. This'll be interesting.'. This was a pretty well geared group, and I was being beaten by a rogue by about 10%. By the end, the paladin CONGRATULATED me! Then said he's BM on his hunter alt and wanted some tips! Glad to see WoW has the full spectrum of people xD)

I think you should play the way you want to play. I mean seriously its a heroic.. its not ICC25.. or something like that. It's a heroic.
And one of my hunter guildies play in BM spec and he still does great dps so its all about how you play the spec, not which spec you are in.
Personally if you add in the dps your pet can bring, it goes over then what most people think. They just don't know you have a pet that can do 2k+ dps lol.
