Yeah, but they clearly wanted them as a separate family. It follows the trend of WoD of making the Exotic family one that feels like a splinter of another family, i.e. a new family without having to give out a real new family. In both cases the players have found it weird, but it seems that the class designers think it's a good idea. At least in this case the family has glowy bits, even if there are currently only two-three colours, making it the tiniest family we have. Even Shale Spiders have more.
I would guess there are still three colours, even if we only know of two - and that is a pure guess, I don't know anything, but I have trouble believing that they'd remove one of only three colours. Maybe we'll see it on a rare, though while I think having rare colours is a valuable part of the pet hunting experience, I feel it may be less appropriate when there are only three looks to begin with. Maybe they'll relent and make Myonix tameable, which would work ok.

^- I'm still too freaked out by their jello jaws to tame one. I'm hoping they'll fix that before live but I don't have high hopes X-x;;

- Splinter Family
New Family thats not a real new family.
Players find it weird.
Ends up as a tiny family.
These, to me, are strong enough reasons for this idea to be reconsidered. Devs have and continue to do wicked cool stuff for us in the hunter pet department, but its stuff like this that makes me scratch my head. In my mind, these are four meaningful negatives.

I'm a big fan of keeping an exotic classification, but if Rylaks and Mana Sabers are setting the tone for future exotic families, they may as well just do away with the whole system.

to be honest, I was hoping my ass off that BM get either a Throwing weapon or a melee build like survival like Rexxar in warcraft 3, wow and hots, he has beast master in his title and hero class and everything.... but apparently a techno gun ( and bow if you use a variant ) seems more BM to blizzard for some reason ..... so I wish now that they remove the exotic distinction so I can use a devilsaur on my survival hunter, because that will be my new main spec, mind you I'm changing my hunter main spec wich was always BM since vanilla and all because the fantasy for this new bm is just, well wrong and horribly misplaced, just if they gave us a throwing skin for the gun like a spear or axe it would help I think.
the way I see it it should have been:
BM: melee or thrown weapon and large super beast or 2 normal beasts
SV: bow and black arrow or arcane arrow with special effects ( dark ranger style and elven farstrider ) or poison arrows or throwing glaives ( shadow hunter ) and 1 pet
MM:gun ( dwarven sniper ) or bow ( night elf sentinel archer ) with special weapon based skills and 1 pet you couldn't really control, it would focus whoever you put hunters mark on and that is it,just a dmg bonus and ofc an option to have no pet at all.
I remember how sv had more melee inclined gameplay, but still.... the current BM just feels out of place combining a technological weapon that uses electricity with the natural affinity for the primal beast of the beast master. It makes just as much sense as giving a chainsaw fist weapon to a feral druid because it enhances his rending skills 100 fold with the use of technology, also it is nowhere near as cool as chainsaw fist weapons, but you get the idea

Gotta say that I agree with him, the spec ain't looking so good in Legion.
It's mostly why i'm probably going to main Survival since it looks like it'll actually keep me interested and i'm not a big fan of MMs rng.
I also agree that Hati could use more commands(Summon/Dismiss) and also not have a timer when killed though. As well as being able to go passive when the main pet is set to that.

One of the things that really bothers me about Rylaks with this idea is that they are a splinter family.... of *an already Exotic family*.
Mana Sabres, you could make the argument that they were making 'Exotic Cats'. It's not strong, and I don't like it, but it's at least some reason for a 'splinter group' exotic. Rylaks don't have that argument.

I just don't know how to really feel about it all. Personally at this point I just wish that BMs could make pets access a secondary skill that other hunters couldn't, because the families of exotics have become so.....convoluted?
Not gonna get it, but eh, I guess I can dream.
