This whole thing over the female voice actor for the worgen got me to thinking. A lot of people don't like it.... WHY is it bad? I don't mind it so much personally, it seems to me to be just a different type of British or whatever.

In America we have some accents here that are pretty distinct. You have your New Englend one with the subs of New York, Jersey and Boston. There is the west coast one and it's Vally Girl. There is the hints of Latino in the southwest. Also can't forget Southern with it's deep south, creole, Appalachian and the one I hear a lot in Texas. Of course you have the Middle America one that narrators use for movies and commercials. Probably others that I've missed but you get the idea!

Another thing that I'm reminded of from a while ago is Madonna. People were mocking her for speaking with an accent after her move to England. So what if she does? One thing I know is that I start having southern inflections myself if I watch enough TV shows with that accent. I blame it on the few years I lived down there as a kid haha.

So what are all your thoughts on the voice actor? Can someone actually from Britten or someone familiar with their different dialects say that it really is unrealistic?

Since we learn British English in Swedish schools, and I've watched British comedy all my life, I can safely say, that yes. It is bad. It can pass as British, but it sounds fake. That's not my problem tough. ITS THAT THEY'RE YELLING INTO THE MIC LIKE THIS, IF YOU WERE TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS INSTEAD OF LOUD VOICES.

This is completely off topic, but Americans often ask me if I am British because of my 'accent'. Brits never do -- presumably because I don't sound at all British to someone who knows.

But my 'accent'? Is a speech impediment. Granted, a minor one, but I had to go to speech therapy when I was younger and I still sound .. slightly off.

Anyway, that's always just amused me.

Tygamoon its becouse it does not sound like a real english person what it sounds like is someone from the USA trying to be a brit and failing you know they kind of shitty accent you get it usa tv shows who don't knwo what english people sound like. i was born in england i know what the differnt accents of england sound like and they don't sound like that. Its the kind of crap they do when they can't get a person from the place they want like nearly every show in the usa were they want a new zealander on so they get an aussie actor as most people think us kiwis sound like them O.o.

I do like the way the male human/worgen sounds. They almost remind me of Black & White and even its expansion, Creature Isle. The gorilla in that expansion almost had the exact same deep, raspy voice.

The female one though...yeah, I'll have to agree with some. I mean, where's Hermione when you need her, lol?

....How can you say they are even british you cant they are GILNEAN not british or english, they are posh at the most. Their accents dont HAVE to reflect ANY accent in the real world. Its WOW's take on them I mean fer crying out loud draenei dont sound completely russian and the goblins? Yeah ok..cause they probably took a non Jersey person and made them talk like that it isnt hard. My point is that these "accents" dont mean a thing.

Well, regardless of real world connections, you can tell they were going for a British accent and it just sounds very obvious how fake it is. The female voice just irks me because I don't think the acting was done very well. /shrug

You can't really use the argument that it's Gilnean. That's like people who draw a dragon with completely messed up anatomy and say it's fine because it's a mythological creature and can look however they want it to.

If they say that or were going for that whatever. There are MANY different variations of accents from all over the world. I have a slightly southern accent at times because my family is from the south. Does it mean I "fail" at a southern belle accent - I think not. Who knows everyone can have accents that sound different because maybe they picked it up or maybe its two accents meshed together. I LOVE the worgen voices they sound just fine to me but then again I know some people hate them, to each his own. I LOVE female gobo's yet I HATE the males /shrug - and you forget their are also many different variations of a dragon and many different types just like there are accents.

I'm giving the reason behind my dislike for the female Worgen voices. I can tell that the voice actress was putting on an accent. There's nothing wrong with that....if they can pull it off. It sounds forced and fake to me. The males sound fine, but the female voice sounds far too false to my ears.

And of course there are different variations of dragons, that's not what I meant. I was referring to, for example, an artist that draws something that looks like it wouldn't be able to walk due to gimpy anatomy and limb structure but just use the excuse that since it's fictional it's fine.

Mm, no still not what I meant. Not sure how to explain it in a different way. Like when an artist refuses to take constructive criticism or try to improve upon errors, instead insisting that their work is fine and perfect because, (for example), they drew a dragon and since dragons don't exist it can look however they want it to. That's true in certain degrees but then they just use that as a blanket to cease improving or to hide behind constructive input.

I'm in love with the male worgen voice, but the female one I find slightly annoying. Like the pitch is too high or something... The male worgen reminds me a little of the male blood elf voice. /swoon.

For once, I found both flirts and jokes of both genders awesome. Really funny. Okay, so the flirts are a little suggestive (really suggestive) and are probably all going to be taken out... But I'm enjoying them for now.
The female voice is a bit irritating, but eh, I'll live with it. The male voice has convinced me to make a male worgen.
I love the Sparkle joke. And the dog jokes. Makes it sound like they're more then just half animal in appearance, and aren't ashamed to admit it.

Frankly, although the voices could be more realistic... They're half wolves from Gilnaes. They don't need to sound real, because they're not real.

Goblin female sounds exactly like my super East Coast Jewish mother.

I understood that part.

Since goblins are supposed to resembles Jews, I wonder if there's ever gonna be a Stooges parody? They have done that with one of the achievements, Have Keg, Will Travel.
