Lvl 10 surv hunter with a pet, Kill command, steady shot plus Explosive shot ? That's hardly a nerf. Plus the pet's scale better now to. If anything they need to stop nerfing BM. Atleast give us beastal wrath for picking BM.

However,I am a little concerned with everyone saying how awesome it is that we get a pet at level 1. Really? Hmmm. It's not really a pet as it has no action bar,you cant feed it,you can't command it to attack a second mob as you kill another....how then is this going to "teach" new hunters how to control their pets? The only thing it does is make leveling easier...which is fine,"working as intended" and all that. In this case, our pets..I mean,"guardians"...really are a "DoT". Meh,maybe it's just me...
Absolutely agreed on both counts. Honestly, I think the main reason we're getting pets at level 1 is so the learning-to-tame-pets questlines can be removed, like the other class quests.

The only thing I'll contest is our pets being "DoTs" - there's that, but they also hold mobs off of us by tanking. It's a luxury that not all ranged classes can afford.

Actually I think they were planning this when they did warlocks, but it's easier to have an imp at lv 1, than to design, modify and figure out wtf pets newb hunters will have for level 1. And honestly it's better than them just making us wait till lv 10 and us learning Tame beast, Revive Pet, Feed Pet, Dismiss pet, all in one go.

Yeah but most ranged classes are built for it; IE Mages tend to dps **** down before it gets to them, or have snares, slows or items to get around it.

Warlocks, before the fear nerf, would just fear spam. Fear dot fear, drain, fear, wand a bit, dead mob. Mean on Zeldei I loved Affliction, I found it better than just wanding and praying that my VW would hold aggro over wand dps.

Druids also have trees, roots and other ways to escape.

Hunters are the only ranged class ingame that's gimped without the pet tho tbh, all other ranged classes? Oh pet died, oh well. Or pet is a burst. Or pet is just a dps extension.

When your leveling yes this would be a issues with hunters. However with full T10 and ICC 10 man gear If the pet dies or I pull aggro I burn them down before they even touch me.

That's kinda what I meant? I mean if you watch TotalHalibut's 'Wolgin' video and 'Quest from hell' you see why he had to reroll his hunter, to a druid, because hunters just can't do crap without their pets.

I really don't see why so many people are complaining. I think the trees look fantastic (at least for BM), the pet scaling is being bumped up to where it needs to be, we're getting TONS of pet slots, fun new abilities to play with, AND I'll be able to roll an Undead hunter.

I've never been more excited for the class. I think it's going to be loads of fun! Whatever issues and complaints other people may have WILL be fixed, I've no doubt about that one bit!

Even on a level 20 hunter the pet is fairly insignificant to my success. At most it can provide a stun, even tough that usually isn't necessary. We're not all gimped if the pet dies, that's just BM. MM and SV level just as well without their pets.

I am kind of torn.
I did quit my account and I really don't want to come back with all this social networking crap that is going on right now.

On the other hand, cataclysm changes seem so neat. Focus instead of mana, plenty of stable slots, five pets with you all the time. Sounds pretty epic to me. I haven't given the talent trees even a glimpse, because they are far from done yet.
The new world you can be exploring, find all the changes, sitting in front of your screen with all those "oh"s and "ah"s when you see something new.

I really want to quit playing wow and cataclysm is giving me a hard time.

Well, one thing I don't like is how bloated just the first tier of the BM specc is...I'd say reduce the pet's focus regeneration talent down to 2 points, which I think should be 25%/50%...24% doesn't seem quite enough for 4 points worth of spending. That way it would also enable a levelling BM hunter to spend points in the tree whilst levelling (if you have maxed out both the first two tier talents like I have)...:)

One thing I will say is that the beta tester I am in contact with is saying some pretty good thing's about the tree's at the moment. I have my own doubts and complaints, but Rika is saying that it is all shaping up nicely, and she was probably as negative as I was going in. It does make me very curious. I definitely want to give it a run if I get the chance.

Good part:
-20 stable slots
-focus systeme seems to be nice
-better pet scalling :)
-The pets that I rlly want to tame arent gone in cata :D
-The 31 talent tree's aren't that bad(in mine opinion)

Bad part:
-bm still dont have there own shot
-bm is still the lowest dps from the 3 specc(from what I hear from beta testers)
-And know my biggest concern...the lost of cc immune from the talent ''The Beast Within''.
Mine main goal in cata shall be rated battleground and I was hoping I could using bm again(I rlly miss it to use it again in pvp)
If cata hit with this change,bm dont have any use in pvp :( .If a hunter use then TBW they just cc the hunter still TBW is gone.So no use for TBW

Blizzard is succeeding! :o

Seriously, though, I agree - we have such big, exciting shinies at the moment. The expanded stable alone gives us so many possibilities, especially with all sorts of beautiful new sights to see. I expect us to see a lot more water used in Cata just so Blizz can show off their new water effects. I'd be quite happy camping for a new companion next to some of these gorgeous new pools....
