That explanation would work, Hoox, but the thing is, even when she's opened them, she only does the whole "open eyes, stare a few seconds, then close them again" thing. I'm just hoping they close her eyes later. I can get by otherwise, it makes a tiny bit of sense lorewise, but...
@Zangor: I dunno'... I wasn't much of a fan of the bouncy Sylvanas, and I think something similar would happen to Ysera, sadly.

The blood elf model also applies to high elves, so I wouldn't say that necessarily detracts from the awesomeness.
No more so than the night elf hop on a supposedly dignified character...

Oh god, the nelf bounce. Makes me want to cry every time my dignified, proud, and strong druid does it.
They only used the blood elf model insofar as they used the Alexstraza model. She was modeled over the blood elves (or rather, I'd wager, the high elves). It wouldn't make sense if Ysera was very different from Alex, in my opinion.
Besides, she looks gorgeous. Ok, a tad too much skin there, but then again she won't exactly be tanking a dungeon in her elf form... Not like them crazy pallies in their belly button shirts and plate skirts.

That's true, didn't remember that she closed them so fast. I wish someone would get footage of her in the live beta, that way we'd know.
Otherwise the model looks pretty decent, not necessarily how I pictured her, but ok.

Ysera can assume the form of a female from any race, which she chooses depending on whom she is talking to. Often she wears a dress of emerald green, emerald jewelery, and has emerald-green hair.
When she does visit the living plane, she shapeshifts into a humanoid form, covered by a green hood, and her eyes are always closed.
Her eyes are always closed, although you can see her pupils move constantly below her eyelids as if watching many dreams at once.
There are only a few recorded moments in history where Ysera has opened her eyes. When she does, a person can see eyes of many colors, like a rainbow. The eyes of every sentient creature can be seen at once through her eyes.
Even if Blizzard keeps her eyes open in this new model, it should shift all the colors of the rainbow (or at least deep green to match her dragonflight) and not blue.

I kinda don't see this happening.
Blizzard puts in a lot of work on tiny details, but not ones that would require a whole lot of effort coding an effect that would really only apply to one character. Like the whole "new water" thing applies to many zones, as opposed to a single pool in a dungeon.

Meh, like I said, I like the model and think it looks pretty decent. Is it exactly how I pictured her? No. Is it a perfect, lore-based model? No. But it sure as heck looks better than the placeholder, and it's fine with me.
As far as I've seen (and I've looked on several videos) her eyes do not close. However, seeing as this is beta, this could easily change. That's one detail I think they ought to have got right, but, it's still better than the placeholder model. As long as her dragon form looks awesome, I'm cool.

My take on Ysera's eyes is probably due to the model viewer itself and not how the model will work in game. Either that or she's really f*BEEP*ing pissed at Deathwing enough to have them open.

That is awesome. Though kind of sad too that now minipets have better texture resolutions than the old player races

Cataclysm Collector's Edition is one that I am not going to miss this time....I wasn't able to get either the CE for BC or WotLK. Baby Deathwing is awesome, so happy they're keeping the dragon pet trend.

Ysera open eyes
"As I've said before, her eyes are very intentionally open. This is, in fact, part of the fiction and will be explained in one of our upcoming novels as well as a future event in game.
If it suits you, feel free to RP going CRAZY INSANE after looking into her eyes in Hyjal".
This was on mmo champ, and apparently a blue post.

Yeah, they definitely could've phrased that in a more polite manner. It's like "read the books, noobs".
I think they're failing to see why people are upset about it. To them it may seem minor, but we've read about these characters for years, and to see them inexplicably changed for what looks like no reason (apart from laziness) is sad. I really like Ysera. Us lore-lovers just want to see our favorites represented in a nice way.
That said, we'll just have to see what they come up with. I hope her eyes are at least closed on her dragon model :/ Even if there's a good explanation for it, it still seems kinda odd.
